Childhood Friend of the Zenith – 391 (Part 2)

391 (Part 2)
”’Our family also had something that could be considered a symbol of sorts.
There was a martial arts uniform with that symbol embroidered on the chest but I preferred not to wear it.
It’s embarrassing you know to walk around like that.
I probably won’t wear it in the future either.
‘After all no one else wears it.’
I had never seen my father or even Gu Hyebi wearing it.
They do wear it for important occasions though.
They wore it at the last orthodox sect meeting after all.
Anyway.
If you’re wondering why I’m bringing up that symbol now it’s because the woman over there is wearing the martial arts uniform with that symbol.
And it’s the martial arts uniform of the Gu family.
The deep red martial arts uniform has a light yellow embroidery pattern on it.
That was the symbolic attire worn by the bloodline of the Gu family.
There was only one person I could think of who would wear such a conspicuous outfit.
‘Gu Yeon-seo?’
Yes.
The owner of that voice was Gu Yeon-seo.
Confirming that I moved closer to the crowd.
Gu Yeon-seo was apologizing to someone.
As soon as I saw that I frowned slightly and observed the other person.
The one Gu Yeon-seo was apologizing to was a middle-aged man with a massive build.
He gave off a feeling reminiscent of an Elder.
His large frame made the small weapon at his waist look even smaller.
He was wearing a black martial arts uniform and similarly a black ring was on his finger.
Having confirmed that much I naturally knew who he was.

After all I had seen his face a few times.
That man was.
‘Peng Clan Head?’
He was the Clan Head of the Peng Clan known as the Sword King.
‘Why?’
A question enveloped my mind.
Why were the Peng Clan Head and Gu Yeon-seo in such a situation?
Especially in the middle of the street out of nowhere.
Gu Yeon-seo looked as if she was shrinking almost intimidated.
The expression on the Peng Clan Head’s face seemed quite uncomfortable.
“…Hmph. The prodigies these days are really lacking. Can’t even walk without bumping into things.”
“…”
“Let alone bumping into the shoulder of a senior who is much above you. Did you learn that it’s acceptable to do so in your family?”
“No I… it’s my fault.”
The moment Gu Yeon-seo spat out an apology without any excuses one of my eyebrows shot up.
‘Is that so?’
So Gu Yeon-seo had bumped into the Peng Clan Head while walking down the street.
That was the impression I got from their conversation.
“Even if you’re young you should have approached with respect. Tsk tsk.”
The expression on the Peng Clan Head’s face was subtle.
It was more of a smile that suggested he had caught someone rather than anger.
‘Bump shoulders?’
This was something that was simply beyond my understanding.
There weren’t that many people around but it wasn’t exactly sparse either.
There was no way someone of the Peng Clan Head’s stature would allow someone to get close enough to bump shoulders.
This meant that.
It was close to a ridiculous act.
“Though you’re still young I must say we need to reassess the educational state of the Gu family.”
At the mention of the Gu family Gu Yeon-seo flinched. I could see her ears turning red and her body shrinking in an instant.
Perhaps having confirmed that the corners of the Peng Clan Head’s mouth lifted slightly.
“Though the talents of the younger generation are high… it seems they are quite lacking in basic manners…”
“Ah no…! This is purely my fault for not seeing ahead….”
“Stop—!”
As the Peng Clan Head shouted angrily Gu Yeon-seo jumped back in surprise.
“You interrupted me before I finished speaking!”
“…I’m sorry. Please forgive my rudeness….”
With every little thing the Peng Clan Head found to criticize the corners of his mouth lifted higher.

“To think that the most famous bloodline of the four great families is in such a state…! How disappointing.”
“…That’s…”
Gu Yeon-seo tried to speak but then clamped her mouth shut. The Peng Clan Head’s words had become a shackle.
Seeing her attitude the Peng Clan Head seemed satisfied and continued speaking.
“Though I’ve tried to look favorably upon the Gu family despite the bad things that have happened seeing this makes me think I should rather be thankful that things ended poorly back then.”
“…!”
Mentioning the broken engagement made Gu Yeon-seo shut her eyes tightly.
Having confirmed that situation my body was already in motion.
“With the state of your bloodline like this there’s no need to look at others…”
The Peng Clan Head’s words which had been filled with anger suddenly cut off.
This was because I had pushed my way between the two of them.
If I kept watching I felt like my blood pressure would rise and I would die first. I couldn’t help it. I couldn’t die over something like this.
I grabbed Gu Yeon-seo’s shoulder and pulled her back.
At the sudden pull Gu Yeon-seo’s eyes widened.
I pulled her back and stood in front of the Peng Clan Head as if to protect her.
“What…?”
The Peng Clan Head looked quite startled at my sudden appearance in front of him.
Of course.
I was startled too.
How could I not be surprised when someone spoke like that?
“Sir.”
At my blunt words the Peng Clan Head frowned.
Perhaps it was because it was a completely unexpected form of address.
After all when would the Clan Head of the Peng Clan have been called ‘Sir’?
Seeing the Peng Clan Head’s expression gradually frown I continued speaking.
“Your words are quite…”
“Disgusting.”
“Disgusting… huh?”
Just as I was about to continue I suddenly felt my strength drain away.
Someone had interrupted and spoken the words I was about to say first.
“Your mouth is filthy. Do you think it’s a trash can? Spitting out garbage.”
“What…?”
The Peng Clan Head looked at the person with a bewildered expression.
It wasn’t me who had said that.
It was a woman who had appeared next to me arms crossed.
Like the Peng Clan Head I was also busy examining the woman who had suddenly butted in.
I never expected there would be another crazy person who would curse at the Clan Head of one of the four great families besides me.
As I looked at her with wide eyes full of surprise.
“Uh?”
I let out a sound without realizing it. It was because I recognized her martial arts uniform.
The light blue martial arts uniform and the embroidery on her chest. Along with the various accessories she was wearing.
These were things I had seen somewhere before.
‘This…?’
That’s right.
It resembled the items that Moyong Hee-ah had worn from the Moyong Clan.
It wasn’t just a resemblance.
The martial arts uniform was exactly the same and the accessories had the unique design that the Moyong Clan produced.
In other words.
That woman was a member of the Moyong Clan.”’
