Childhood Friend of the Zenith – 370 (Part 2)

370 (Part 2)
“I can’t say it’s a story that can be understood just by thinking so I stood up from where I was sitting and said to Cheol Ji-seon.
“Let’s go.”
“Uh really?”
“Yeah it would be strange for a junior to arrive late.”
“Uh-huh.”
With such big shots arriving it would be quite uncomfortable for us who are juniors not to attend.
In a world that scrutinizes such things there was no choice.
‘Anyway I don’t like it.’
That wasn’t the only thing on my mind.
I would probably have to face Baek Cheon-gum-ju again.
That was quite concerning.
But this was also an unavoidable part so I bit my lip once.
Then I moved my feet and jumped down from the building.
Then.
Cheol Ji-seon who remained on the roof looked at the suddenly vanished Gu Yang-cheon and said.
“…What about me?”
His voice was filled with confusion.
It was understandable.
The one who had brought Cheol Ji-seon to this roof was Gu Yang-cheon.
He didn’t have the ability to come down in one go.

The waiting room set up inside the Murim Alliance.
The waiting room prepared for important guests was filled with an unknown heaviness.
It wasn’t that the interior looked that way.
It was because the unique energy emitted by those gathered there was uniformly heavy.

This place was designated for the Clan Heads of the major families to wait.
The people gathered here were of course the heads of the great families known as the prestigious clans.
Among them a somewhat small-statured man was calmly sipping the tea placed in front of him sitting in what appeared to be the seat of honor.
He was the head of the Tang Clan.
The Sword King Tang Cheon-gi.
The Clan Heads around him had to be tense with every action he took.
Such was the position held by the heads of the four great families in the Central Plains.
Tang Cheon-gi was well aware of this so he simply spent his time quietly sipping tea.
The moment he took a sip of his tea.
Someone opened the door and entered.
Bang-!
The sound of the door opening was anything but gentle and loud.
“Oh dear. I’m quite late aren’t I?”
The person who entered was a man of enormous size in stark contrast to the small-statured Tang Cheon-gi.
He was a giant in a dark martial arts uniform his face covered in scars.
Tang Cheon-gi sighed inwardly as he recognized the man.
He didn’t want to engage in conversation with that ignorant person.
However since they had already met he couldn’t act like a child.
Tang Cheon-gi forced a smile and greeted the man.
“It’s been a while. Pang Clan Head.”
“Good to see you. Tang Clan Head. Have you been well?”
The giant was the head of the Hebei Peng Clan the Blade King Pang Zhou.
“Of course. As always I’ve been well.”
“That’s a relief.”
After a brief conversation that felt somewhat sharp.
Pang Zhou naturally walked over and sat across from Tang Cheon-gi.
“Tang Clan Head. I heard you arrived yesterday.”
“That’s right.”
“Why did you come so early? You traveled a long way; you could have taken your time.”
The implication was questioning why he was in such a hurry to arrive early.
Tang Cheon-gi having confirmed this smiled and replied.
“Since I came from afar I had to be careful not to be late so I made a bit of an effort.”
This was a response implying that it was basic courtesy. A response to someone who didn’t even know this courtesy.
After exchanging such words the two shared a brief moment of silence.
“Hahaha!”
“Hahahaha!”
As if they had been waiting for it they looked at each other and laughed.

“Even after a long time the Tang Clan Head remains the same.”
“I feel the same. The Pang Clan Head hasn’t changed either. Ah you do seem a bit more seasoned.”
– Time has passed yet your skills remain unchanged.
– Look in the mirror. Your face is melting away.
With every exchange of words that held different meanings the tension between the two grew thicker.
The martial artist from the Meng clan who was watching from the wall wondered if a fight would break out.
The Clan Heads of the prestigious families waiting alongside them were also feeling the pressure.
At that moment.
Creeeak.
The door opened again and another person appeared.
This time it was Baek Cheon-gum-ju Moyong Tae.
Unlike the days when he wore a tattered cloak Moyong Tae looked quite splendid befitting the head of the Moyong Clan famous for its Trading Company.
The quality of his clothes was evidently extraordinary and the ornaments he wore around his waist and arms were quite beautiful.
Seeing this Tang Cheon-gi stood up.
“It’s been a while. Moyong Clan Head.”
His voice and expression were entirely different from when he had just met Pang Clan Head.
It was only natural. Currently the Tang Clan was collaborating with the Moyong Clan’s Trading Company.
The results had been quite favorable.
So Tang Cheon-gi had no choice but to welcome Moyong Tae.
Seeing Tang Cheon-gi express his joy Moyong Tae also smiled gently.
“Have you been well Tang Clan Head?”
“Come sit down.”
At Tang Cheon-gi’s words Moyong Tae naturally took a seat.
Pang Zhou witnessing this couldn’t help but let out a snicker.
“It’s been a while.”
“Good to see you Pang Clan Head.”
Even in Moyong Tae’s greeting Pang Zhou’s gaze was somewhat cold.
Regarding that gaze Moyong Tae said nothing and simply offered his greeting.
Perhaps he was displeased with that reaction.
Pang Zhou frowned and spoke.
“Moyong Clan Head.”
“Yes.”
“I heard you were here about seven days ago. Is that correct?”
“That’s right.”
At Moyong Tae’s nonchalant answer Pang Zhou let out a short laugh.
It was a clear sneer.
“What was so urgent that you rushed all the way to Henan?”
“My daughter encountered a dangerous situation. I had to come immediately. I think it’s only natural as a father.”
Pang Zhou’s eyebrows twitched at Moyong Tae’s words.
“Does that mean we as fathers are lacking?”
Pang Zhou’s words which seemed to grasp at straws made Moyong Tae look at him with a peculiar gaze.
It was an unmistakably confrontational tone.
However despite that reaction Moyong Tae responded with a gentle smile contrasting his cold features.
“I didn’t mean it that way. But if the Pang Clan Head took it that way…”
Slurp.
The sound of tea being poured into Moyong Tae’s cup rang out unusually loudly.
“That must be the case.”
Creak.
Upon hearing Moyong Tae’s response a surge of hostility rippled through Pang Zhou’s shoulders.
Knowing that if this continued it would turn into chaos.
Tang Cheon-gi sighed and was about to rise to mediate between the two.
Swoosh—!
“…!”
The heads of the clans in the waiting room all turned toward the door at once.
This was because an unknown presence was felt coming from the door.
Thud… thud.
Was it because they sensed the presence?
The sound of footsteps approaching was unusually loud.
Though it wasn’t particularly loud it was resonating far too clearly.
Eventually.
Creeeak.
The door slowly opened revealing the owner of that presence.
Was it an illusion?
The moment the door opened it felt as if heat flooded into the waiting room.
Pang Zhou’s eyes widened as he recognized the figure who entered.
It was an unexpected person.
‘That person… really.’
The reason for his surprise was simple. He had heard news of his arrival but it was astonishing that he had truly come out of the mountains.
It was also remarkable that he felt such tension from him.
The man who entered scanned the room with his fierce gaze.
The Clan Heads who met his eyes flinched involuntarily.
His gaze was far too cold.
“…”
Had he finished his assessment?
The man moved forward amidst the uncomfortable silence.
He should have paused upon seeing the Clan Heads of the four great families.
Yet he continued walking as if it were nothing.
And soon.
Rattle.
He casually pulled out the chair at the seat of honor and sat down.
Though the situation unfolded in a very brief moment.
Those gathered in the room couldn’t utter a single word until that moment occurred.
The man seemed to enjoy the silence observing the situation before casually speaking.
“Nice to meet you.”
His voice was deep and heavy.
“I am Gu Cheol-un.”
