    345 (Part 2)

It was fortunate that the outcome was decided within that.

The aura of rain increased as it circled around me.

The bloodstorm raging around me was still fierce but I could feel it gradually calming down.

    ‘This is unusual.’

In a way it was fortunate but the process felt somewhat delicate.

If it were going to calm down this easily it would have been strange to have launched an attack in the first place.

They said the prodigies and instructors were pushing back. The level of the instructors and the attackers wasn’t that different.

The blood-soaked prodigies couldn’t possibly overcome the situation by uniting.

Among them the outstanding ones were close to the level of the instructors.

From what I could see the situation felt different somehow.

    ‘I need to find out.’

My expression involuntarily frowned. I didn’t want to interfere in the matters happening in the Central Plains.

Amidst the orthodox sects and unorthodox sects even though I appeared to belong to the orthodox sects on the surface I had always thought of myself as belonging nowhere.

    But.

‘This time I can’t help it.’

The problem was that the troublesome girl from the Bi family was here with me.

It wasn’t good for me if that child found herself in danger.

    ‘Getting old and still suffering.’

I had avoided making a marriage pact and having children to avoid this kind of situation.

To end up suffering after becoming young again was truly ridiculous.

‘The other kids must have managed to avoid it.’

I was a bit concerned about the injured children but they must have escaped somehow.

I had already sent a message to the old man Wi Hyo-gun regarding his successor.

Having thought that far I shifted my gaze back to the Black Night Palace Head.

His broken body looked as if it could stop breathing at any moment.

His level was higher than mine at the moment.

The power he was using was also foreign but it wasn’t that difficult to deal with. I had twisted his insides with just a few strikes.

If I grasped his movements and responded first I could handle him easily.

If there was anything that bothered me it was that my own condition wasn’t good.

I needed to settle this quickly.

    I clenched my fist.

For a moment I contemplated whether to hold my breath and pass him over to the Murim Alliance but I decided against it.

Leaving a dangerous element like him alone was not an option.

There was no need for me to take on such a troublesome task nor did I want to reveal my presence by doing so.

I wanted to deal with him quickly. I was thinking of returning to Bi Bi. I had left her in a safe place but one could never be too sure.

    I twisted my waist.

    Thud-!

My toes sank into the ground gathering pressure and balance.

What I aimed for was the head of the Black Night Palace Head.

My intention was to crush his head and kill him instantly.

But just before my fist reached him.

    Crack-!

    “•••!”

My fist froze stiffly in mid-air.

It wasn’t me who stopped it.

Someone had grabbed my wrist and forced me to halt.

I glared at the person who had seized my wrist with sharp eyes.

They had appeared out of nowhere and grabbed my wrist.

They had pierced through my aura as if it were nothing.

No matter how exhausted I was from using a lot of energy it was surprising to me.

    Tap-!

I immediately twisted my wrist and pulled away.

Contrary to the strong grip I was able to slip away far too easily.

I quickly distanced myself from my opponent.

    “Who are you?”

If someone could come this close and block my attack it meant they were a highly skilled martial artist.

I examined the suddenly appeared figure.

What I first noticed was the black hair slightly longer than shoulder length.

And the pale white skin that was faintly visible.

Though their face was obscured by their hair I felt something unusual seeing such an opponent.

    ‘Their presence is faint.’

Even though they were right in front of me.

There was a subtle presence as if they weren’t there.

    It was hard to grasp.

That presence was likely the reason I hadn’t noticed their approach.

I repeated my breathing to stabilize my body.

Then I asked the question I had just posed again.

    “Who are you…!”

Just as I was about to inquire about their identity I suddenly fell to one knee.

    “Gah…!”

    Thud-!

Pain surged from my qi center.

The vibrations mixed and felt like they were tightening around my throat.

    ‘This is…!’

The unknown energy that I had separated and set aside during my confrontation with the Black Night Palace Head.

It suddenly began to rampage within my body.

The qi flowing through my acupoints started to flow chaotically. In an instant my strength drained away and pain assaulted me.

    “Ugh…!”

I struggled to endure and took a shallow breath.

With bloodshot eyes I glared at my opponent.

    “•••Is this your doing?”

I could tell that this change was due to the presence in front of me.

    “ ”

The figure before me offered no response to my question.

They merely slowly turned their head to look at me.

As their gaze shifted and I confirmed their face for some reason my eyes widened in shock.

I wasn’t the only one surprised by this.

The Black Night Palace Head kneeling and bleeding expressed his astonishment at the slender back.

    “Ha…! Oh heavens… how….”

At the Black Night Palace Head’s voice.

The unknown figure took a step forward approaching me.

    Rumble.

With each small step they took.

A black energy emanated from their body.

It resembled the martial arts used by the Black Night Palace Head but it was much denser and more ominous.

    It was dangerous.

I sensed that energy. Even while exuding such energy I still couldn’t grasp their presence.

I couldn’t even discern how much power they possessed.

Was it because of the energy rampaging within me?

I was certain that wasn’t the reason.

Before I knew it the figure had approached right in front of me extending a hand filled with black energy.

It was clearly trying to grab my neck.

The slender fingertips quickly reached my neck.

    The touch was cold.

Not just cold but chillingly so.

As the fingertips gradually extended trying to grasp my neck.

    Whoosh-!

Someone suddenly yanked my clothes and pulled me back.

    Thud!

Thanks to that I rolled on the ground but managed to escape the crisis.

    “Cough….”

I gasped for breath as I rose.

The pain was still there but fortunately I could move a little.

As I confirmed the person who had saved me I was once again taken aback.

The one who saved me was none other than Wi Seol-ah.

I had clearly told her to take the children to a safe place.

Yet for some reason she had appeared here to save me.

I should be grateful for that.

But seeing her I had to face an incomprehensible situation.

    “Why…?”

    It couldn’t be helped.

Wi Seol-ah had a fierce expression as she pointed her sword at the figure ahead.

The opponent also wore a mysterious expression while looking at Wi Seol-ah.

    They tilted their head slightly.

They seemed to examine Wi Seol-ah from head to toe.

Perhaps it was out of curiosity.

    That might be the case.

Though the reactions and feelings were quite different.

The faces of Wi Seol-ah and the opponent looked eerily similar as if they were facing a mirror.
