    334 (Part 2)

“Is that even possible? How could that be?

It was not something I could understand.

“…Why do you have to do this?”

I was a being without the strength to resist.

[No Sado. You can do it.]

    “Why on earth…”

Just as I was about to ask how he could be so certain.

[Before we talk about that there’s something you need to know first.]

    “Something to know?”

The World Tree interrupts my thoughts.

[Do you know what exists within you?]

    “…!”

I swallowed hard at the World Tree’s words.

    The existence he spoke of.

It referred to the beast that had settled within my body.

“How do you know about this…?”

    [For that first.]

That was not the only surprising thing.

    The World Tree continued.

[We need to talk about your mother.]

    A distant past.

It was a story about my missing mother.

    Thud thud!

Cheol Ji-seon quickly moved his feet pounding the ground.

His breath was ragged and his legs felt numb but Cheol Ji-seon did not stop.

    ‘What is that…!’

Yet his gaze remained fixed on the sky.

The sky which had been darkening since earlier was gradually becoming denser.

    ‘No… that’s not the sky.’

Indeed it was not the sky.

It was clearly close to a veil.

It began to cover the surroundings with a black veil as if it were encroaching.

    The extent was alarming.

It covered two mountains and even reached the distant Shinryonggwan.

    ‘What on earth is happening…!’

Cheol Ji-seon bit his teeth and moved his feet.

This was definitely not a peaceful situation.

    While running Cheol Ji-seon thought.

    ‘Where… where am I going?’

In this urgent situation he moved his feet first.

But he had no idea where to go.

    ‘What about the instructors?’

If he was not the only one witnessing this situation.

The instructors must have seen it too.

    The surroundings were eerily quiet.

    Then.

    Swish-!

Feeling a sensation from the surroundings Cheol Ji-seon quickly turned his body.

It was a movement driven by instinct.

    Thud!

    “Ugh!”

Perhaps it was too late; he felt a piercing pain.

Was qi mixed in? A sound of rupture echoed as his body was flung away.

Soon Cheol Ji-seon’s body rolled helplessly on the ground.

    “Gasp… gasp!”

    Wondering where he was hurt.

It seemed his thigh had been stabbed.

    A dagger was embedded there.

    “…Ugh!”

As the pain hit him Cheol Ji-seon began to grit his teeth.

“What are you doing? You almost killed me.”

A voice of a person came from the front.

As Cheol Ji-seon looked up in pain he saw someone in a black-stained martial arts uniform approaching with a drawn sword.

    ‘Who…’

“I told you to confirm the face before killing. Do you want to die at Tae Joo’s hands?”

“Isn’t it okay to kill one or two?”

    A voice came from behind.

It seemed to belong to the person who had thrown the dagger.

“Anyway the bloodline of the four great families only has daughters. The rest can be killed off as needed.”

“That’s only for the instructors. If you don’t want to cause trouble be careful.”

The man who heard the other’s remark clicked his tongue and suddenly grabbed Cheol Ji-seon’s hair lifting him up.

    “Ugh!”

    “Do you recognize this face?”

At the man’s words another person came over and stared at Cheol Ji-seon’s face.

Grabbing Cheol Ji-seon’s chin he twisted it this way and that.

    “Interesting.”

He frowned as if he realized something was wrong.

    “Why?”

“Look at the position of the mark and the clothes. He’s one of the ones Tae Joo told us not to touch.”

    “…Oh is that so?”

“What are you going to do?”

“What can we do? Just let him go.”

    The man chuckled.

Cheol Ji-seon was terrified by the unexpected ambush.

Yet his eyes were moving quickly.

‘One is near the chest the other is at the left wrist… both are dragons.’

He was assessing their appearances with his eyes.

“Sorry about this. I was in a hurry to taste blood after a long time.”

The one who had thrown the dagger at Cheol Ji-seon.

With a completely unapologetic expression he playfully slapped Cheol Ji-seon’s cheek before quickly standing up.

It seemed he really had no intention of killing him.

‘If I’m not killed… what about the others?’

He recalled what they had said.

    – Anyway the bloodline of the four great families only has daughters. The rest can be killed off as needed.

This meant that they intended to kill everyone except the important ones.

‘The instructors not showing up means…’

Either the instructors were involved in this incident.

Or many others like them had come.

    …Was it a planned ambush?

    ‘No way.’

Just the other day Cheol Ji-seon remembered Shin Seong telling him not to worry about the ambush on Gu Yang Cheon.

Could this incident possibly be related to Shin Seong?

“The leg? Well if you just stop the bleeding it should be fine. I didn’t apply poison.”

The man said that with a laugh and tried to move.

It seemed he was trying to capture someone other than himself.

That meant he couldn’t just let it be.

    Cheol Ji-seon moved his fingertips.

Since it had not been long since he opened the magical gate.

Even if he couldn’t open the same door as before.

He couldn’t let them leave like this.

He struggled to find a sensation with his fingertips.

But he couldn’t grasp the desired touch.

    ‘Please…’

The power he had wished to disappear so much.

At a time like this it was particularly unresponsive.

Just as Cheol Ji-seon desperately tried to move his fingertips.

“Let’s try going the other way…”

The man who had risen paused mid-sentence.

His reaction was strange and Cheol Ji-seon unconsciously followed his gaze.

    Thud.

Something fell right in front of Cheol Ji-seon’s eyes.

    “Ugh… ugh!”

Seeing that Cheol Ji-seon let out a scream without realizing it.

What had suddenly fallen was a human head.

Moreover it was the head of the person who had been checking Cheol Ji-seon’s face.

    “Who the hell…!”

Then the man tried to gather qi.

But with a chilling sound of something being sliced.

    Thud.

That man’s head also fell right in front of Cheol Ji-seon.

Seeing that Cheol Ji-seon couldn’t even scream and clutched his trembling heart.

    Could it be the instructor?

The two martial artists had quite a presence.

If there was someone capable of cutting down such figures like this…

    “…Where are you?”

Just as Cheol Ji-seon thought it was definitely an instructor and felt a slight sense of relief.

A different voice came from right above.

It was a voice he had heard before.

Not often but a few times.

Normally it would be a soft and sleepy voice.

Yet now it sounded cold as if angry.

Moreover the chilling emotion in the voice made Cheol Ji-seon tremble far more than before.

Cheol Ji-seon raised his trembling head to look at the owner of the voice.

The first thing he saw was a head of silvery-white hair.

    “…That person.”

The second was a pair of beautiful blue eyes.

    “Where are you?”

    Swish-!

Shaking off the blood from the sword Namgung Bia was looking down at Cheol Ji-seon.
