Childhood Friend of the Zenith – 330 (Part 2)

330 (Part 2)
“Do you know where it is?”
Even if that statement were true it doesn’t add credibility to the idea that it could resurrect at any time.
Just because you know it doesn’t mean that it can find it.
[I’m just waiting for the right moment.]
The right moment… what are you waiting for?
“So when that moment you’ve been waiting for comes does that mean it will ultimately resurrect?”
[Well… that’s something I haven’t decided yet.]
In my past life the Blood Demon did not resurrect.
It was merely the instigator of the blood calamity that had occurred in the past.
A figure sealed by the heroes’ efforts.
Thinking about that I recalled.
“I have a question.”
At my bold statement the Blood Demon let out a brief chuckle.
[How audacious of you as if I came here to engage in a dialogue with you.]
“Isn’t that right?”
[Why do you think so?]
“Then you wouldn’t be telling me such pointless stories.”
About the five senses about energy and the physical body.
And the claim that it doesn’t dream of resurrection and that it is waiting for the right moment.
Such trivial information.
For someone who came to save Jang Seon-yeon it was quite talkative.
If it came to kill me it appeared far too peaceful.
“If you have no intention of answering then I have no business with you so just leave.”
That said I had no intention of treating it kindly.
Whatever its identity or purpose might be I thought it wouldn’t be a good being for me.

No matter what purpose it had in the end it was something I had to get rid of.
[What is it that you want to ask?]
“Are you a calamity?”
As Yeon Il-cheon once said.
The Blood Demon they stopped was called a calamity.
A calamity that was supposed to bring about the world’s destruction one that should have determined the fate of this world.
Moreover Yeon Il-cheon labeled me a calamity as well. There must be a reason for my regression.
A calamity that would eventually lead the world to ruin that was what it said.
The Divine Spirit told me to have confidence.
But it wasn’t as easy as it sounded.
If the Blood Demon came to have a conversation with me I decided to ask directly.
Are you a calamity?
Is what Yeon Il-cheon said true?
The Blood Demon fell silent for a moment after hearing my question.
A few seconds of silence passed.
Then the Blood Demon spoke to me.
[I didn’t expect you to ask such a question. How interesting.]
“I’m not asking to entertain you. Answer me.”
[Calamity.]
The Blood Demon took a step closer to me.
As it stepped forward I could see cracks forming in its body.
[How do you see me?]
“From just your current appearance it seems like a calamity.”
Enveloped in a grotesque body that had lost its soul after death.
The sight of it approaching me was unsettling no matter how I looked at it.
[Calamity… who says that?]
“Just answer whether it’s true or not.”
[No there’s no need to answer. After all there’s only one of you.]
It reached out.
I frowned at the black fingertips approaching me.
Should I strike it away?
Or should I break it?
[It must be Yeon Il-cheon.]
The Blood Demon seemed to have realized immediately who had told me such words.
Should I deny it?
From my perspective Yeon Il-cheon wasn’t someone I could trust either.
[That mysterious one still unable to grasp the mystery has left a trick. It seems that friend has blinded your eyes.]

“My eyes are perfectly fine.”
[No it’s just that the specter of the past has clouded your vision. I must clear this up for you.]
The Blood Demon’s fingertips approached my eyes.
They came close just before touching but I didn’t move.
I felt that if I let it go the Blood Demon might do something.
But I absolutely did not move.
Just as the Blood Demon’s fingertips were about to touch my pupils—
Crack—!
The reaction I had been waiting for surged forth.
Something that had sprung up from the ground separated the Blood Demon and me.
[Oh.]
The Blood Demon let out a sound of disappointment.
I looked to see what had emerged and it was a massive tree root. Upon confirming that the Blood Demon took a slight step back.
[It seems I’ve spent too much time.]
As the Blood Demon reached out to the tree root its fingertips crumbled before they could even touch it.
[Was this your intention?]
“I didn’t particularly aim for it but since you were coming closer I thought maybe.”
[You have quite the nerve. It seems you had no intention of moving.]
I thought it would definitely be the case.
This ‘thing’ also clearly had a purpose and it needed me.
I didn’t think it would just let it be.
[What a pity… I wanted to talk a little longer but it seems the owner of this place does not welcome me.]
Cracks began to appear all over the Blood Demon’s body.
[Though I’m dissatisfied I hope that with this conversation we have become a little closer.]
“You were more grotesque than I expected; it feels disgusting. If you’re leaving then disappear quietly.”
I spat out my words like a growl.
But the Blood Demon didn’t seem to care much.
Even while watching Jang Seon-yeon’s body rapidly fading it didn’t let its guard down.
The Blood Demon was still looking at my face.
[What I said before still stands. When you meet the dancer seek me out.]
At the Blood Demon’s words I let out a hollow laugh.
“What do you think I would do if I went to find you?”
I didn’t even know what a dancer was in the first place so I didn’t understand why it kept inviting me.
What would it do if I went and smashed everything to pieces?
Was it that confident?
“If by any chance I do go I will definitely not go with good intentions.”
[That would be good too. As long as it breaks free from any mold nothing could be better.]
After saying that the Blood Demon’s lower body disappeared and its upper body slumped down.
With the impact of hitting the ground its body shattered.
The body divided into fragments was scattered like dust by the raging wind.
Even in that situation the Blood Demon left me with words.
[See you next time.]
Saying that the wind swept away Jang Seon-yeon’s physical form from my sight.
“…Hoo.”
After confirming that I exhaled a rough breath.
I had finally released the extreme tension I had been holding.
“Damn it. Whenever I try to do something something always gets in the way.”
Should I say it was just bad luck that it happened?
My head throbbed.
Why did the Blood Demon have to appear out of nowhere?
‘What is happening?’
As I tried to recall the information from my past life secrets I didn’t know were now surfacing one by one.
What could it all mean?
What is the fate of that being?
What karma has accumulated in this world?
What is the seed that the ancient one possessed?
Even just one of those things had led to a series of unfortunate events.
My insides were just a mess.
That’s why I had come to this place. Ever since I sought the Divine Dragon Temple.
From the moment I confirmed the existence of Cheol Ji-seon.
This was the place I had wanted to come.
If it was something here I thought it would know.
I turned around and spoke.
“If you’re going to show up you should have done it earlier. Why do you show up after such a long time?”
In the place where I spoke with irritation instead of the endlessly sprawling dry plains there was something enormous blocking the sky right in front of me.
I had seen it in my past life as well.
It was truly an absurd size. Simply calling it a tree was an understatement.
The atmosphere and grandeur it exuded were on a different level.
Moreover this tree had a name of its own.
It had once introduced itself.
It said it was the fifth World Tree rooted here.
Mu-a.
As if responding to my words the branches that spread up to the clouds moved all at once.
The leaves seemed to have fallen long ago leaving only dry branches making it appear even more desolate.
At that moment.
[Nice to meet you.]
A voice echoed in my ears.
It was a voice filled with emptiness and sorrow.
It was the same voice I had heard back then.
It was similar to the greeting I received now.
But the second sentence that followed was different from my past life.
[My apostle.]
At the words that reached my ears I frowned.
