”'<Chapter 327: Listening to the Demon Beast. (1)

    “…Were you waiting for me?”

In the voice of Jang Seon-yeon as she spoke

there was a very slight tremor.

“It wasn’t long. I just arrived too.”

She said this with a smile

but Jang Seon-yeon had to frown at those words.

What that meant was in the end

he had been waiting for her here.

    ‘How did he know…?’

Jang Seon-yeon had her doubts but

    “Why are you surprised?”

Goo Yang-cheon asked having been the one waiting for her and Jang Seon-yeon lifted her head.

“Aren’t you looking for me for the same reason?”

    “…!”

“Your reaction is amusing. Yes around this time you were still like this.”

Jang Seon-yeon pushed aside Goo Yang-cheon’s incomprehensible follow-up remarks and focused on what was in front of her.

    – For the same reason.

    Recalling those words

she could simultaneously remember what Goo Yang-cheon had said in her previous group.

    – You will die here.

It was what Goo Yang-cheon had said to her. Remembering that she slightly clenched her fist.

    “That’s an incomprehensible statement.”

“You seem to understand it better than anyone. If not why would you have come looking for me? We have to catch the demonic beast.”

As she listened to Goo Yang-cheon’s words

    her teeth clenched involuntarily.

Was it because of his unique way of speaking?

    Or the sneer hidden within?

Or perhaps the malice he openly directed at her?

    Or maybe it was simply

Goo Yang-cheon’s talent that had been blocking her path from the beginning to the end.

    ‘No.’

It wasn’t that she didn’t know.

She was pretending not to know.

Jang Seon-yeon already knew the reason.

The very existence of that guy was the problem.

His talent which seemed to defy the will of heaven and the malice he emitted towards her.

From the moment she first saw him

up until now and in the future he would block the path she was meant to take.

Jang Seon-yeon had to be ahead of everyone

she had to shine brighter than anyone else.

Yet that irritating guy had been ahead of her from the very beginning

and what’s more he was shining even brighter.

Even if she borrowed the information book and the mouth of the opening

there would inevitably be limits to that.

Especially since she had been gradually withdrawing from the opening.

    How could she endure it?

That guy was like a massive obstacle to her.

Hiding her trembling fist Jang Seon-yeon spoke to Goo Yang-cheon.

“Isn’t that the same for you Mr. Goo?”

    “What do you mean?”

“I mean the fact that you were waiting for me. Don’t you also have to catch the demonic beast?”

At Jang Seon-yeon’s words Goo Yang-cheon chuckled.

“Right. I have to catch the demonic beast.”

    “Then right now…”

“I’m trying to catch it. Right now.”

Jang Seon-yeon frowned at Goo Yang-cheon’s words.

There was no sign of the demonic beast around.

“Just because they wear the guise of humans doesn’t mean they’re all human. If they’re buried in their instincts forgetting the truth and just rampaging then that’s the demonic beast.”

Goo Yang-cheon’s words directed at her with a smile

always dug into the hidden intentions beneath his qi center.

The emotions contained in his eyes were all too clear.

    His demeanor was the same.

He seemed to act as he pleased as if he had no regard for others’ gazes which she found displeasing.

While she was busy wearing a mask and being conscious of righteous eyes

how could he act so freely?

And how could so many others gather around him?

Was she the one who was wrong?

As these thoughts crossed her mind

    Jang Seon-yeon found him distasteful.

She was not in the wrong.

    She had to be right.

“Are you thinking of killing me?”

    At Jang Seon-yeon’s words

Goo Yang-cheon responded as if he found it absurd.

“Why are you acting like a victim now? This is funny.”

Suppressing her emotions Jang Seon-yeon looked into Goo Yang-cheon’s eyes and asked

    “I still don’t understand.”

    “What don’t you understand?”

“The reason you dislike me Mr. Goo. What have I done so wrong to you?”

    Jang Seon-yeon felt wronged

and Goo Yang-cheon could empathize with that feeling of injustice.

It was true that she had received the bloodthirst of the Blood Demon

and it was also true that she had taken her position in a somewhat dirty manner.

However at least until the time of the duel she hadn’t caused him significant harm.

It was just that her methods were crude.

Her true talent was quite outstanding

and even without resorting to tricks she could have reached her peak before her twenties.

Jang Seon-yeon was indeed a genius.

Yet Goo Yang-cheon who openly expressed his dislike for her

might not be able to understand her position.

    “It’s a hassle to explain. Can’t I just say I dislike you?”

It was bothersome to explain each and every reason for his dislike.

What good would it do to pinpoint the reasons for his dislike?

‘Would talking about what I experienced in my past life make any sense?’

    In other words

it meant that Jang Seon-yeon had not committed such sins in this life yet.

    In reality

there were those who had shown different sides in this life and had not killed her.

    Of course

“You dislike me too. Let’s just call it the same.”

That didn’t mean he included Jang Seon-yeon in that.

“What do you intend to do about it?”

“Now you’re not even denying that you dislike me?”

“…Are you suggesting we have a life-and-death duel here?”

“A life-and-death duel sounds good. But do you have the means?”

As Goo Yang-cheon chuckled and spoke

    Jang Seon-yeon’s face contorted.

His face which looked so kind when he smiled

    was refreshingly distorted like that.

“…If not are you thinking of assassination? In a situation where instructors are scattered all around?”

“So I was curious about that too. What were you planning to do to me?”

Even though he had let his presence slip away the instructors were scattered all around.

    Suddenly

Goo Yang-cheon shifted his gaze to look behind Jang Seon-yeon.

    There it was.

    Cheol Ji-seon.

The atmosphere around them was peculiar.

With Cheol Ji-seon’s level he couldn’t hide his presence completely

so it seemed he had covered it with something else.

    ‘What is it?’

It was ambiguous to call it a cover and it was slightly off.

    ‘Sound arts?’

Strangely enough it seemed to be in the realm of sound.

As she focused she could hear a low humming sound.

Seeing that it seemed he had somehow brought Cheol Ji-seon along to evade the instructors’ gaze.

If it was like the experiences from her past life

it seemed he was using the same method again.

    That’s why it was puzzling.

As Jang Seon-yeon said the instructors were scattered all around.

If he suddenly pulled such a stunt…

    ….!

Did Jang Seon-yeon have a way to deal with it?

‘He never did anything he couldn’t handle.’

That meant he always left an escape route.

It didn’t seem like he would act recklessly without thinking.

    Having thought that far

Goo Yang-cheon turned his gaze back to Jang Seon-yeon.

“You said you didn’t know why you dislike me?”

“Why do you dislike me? If I had to pinpoint it it’s because I can see too well what you’ll do in the future.”

    “What do you mean…?”

“It seems like you’re trying to hide it but your filthy desires are so big that they’re easy to see.”

Goo Yang-cheon who had gotten off the rock he was sitting on continued to speak while looking at Jang Seon-yeon.

“Don’t you think your post-graduation plans look like trash?”

    “ ”

“You think you’re an amazing person and you probably think you can rise above everyone else.”

Just like in her past life would this life be any different?

“After graduation you’ll probably join the Murim Alliance. Even though you’re the child of the Alliance Leader you’ll start as the lowest-ranking member. That would be good for public perception.”

With every word he spoke Jang Seon-yeon’s expression changed.

“Anyway you’ll quickly rise through the ranks so being at the bottom won’t matter… and the rumors will spread since there are many involved.”

    “…That…”

    Jang Seon-yeon covered her mouth.

In that moment she almost asked how he knew that.

Goo Yang-cheon continued speaking without paying any mind.

“What will you do after that? Pretending to be a good person you’ll go around saving civilians suffering from demonic beasts. Up to this point it sounds great.”

    Going around saving people.

By all accounts that was a good thing.”’
