    Chapter Index

The driver smiled gratefully at Shangguan Ruoxi like he was relieved “Right.”

“Knowing that we will save you?”

The rider shook his head and slanted his mouth in another helpless grin with a hint of gangliness.

“I don’t know, but you should be able to see that I can’t hold out much longer and have to gamble.”

    “Because of this RV?”

“Not really, you guys look at me the way you look at normal people, at least I don’t have to worry about getting off the pot.

You were scrutinizing me the moment you saw me.

And you stood in a position where you looked like you were taking a few steps back, but you were able to step in and help me in the first place.

Also you have 5 people on your team that are retired or active duty military.

At the very least, my life is in good hands.

Now that all the survivors are trying to find a way to run inside the S province, you guys are going the opposite way, so you must be up to something important, right?”

Shangguan Ruoxi gestured for Luwu to help him up and took out a can of Eight Treasure Congee from space and handed it to him.

“So, before you passed out, you purposely exposed the necklace just to increase your leverage?”

The rider sat up in response to Lugo’s force “I was just betting on a possibility, with so many coincidences added together, my chances of winning should have been great, luckily I won the bet.”

He smiled gratefully, a killer smile that was handsomely charming to the eyes.

Lugo was shaken by his smile and looked away muttering “What’s the point of smiling so nicely? I’m not a girl.”

As if accustomed to it, the rider tightened his smile and reached for the eight-pack.

Straight to the point, “You know the owner of the necklace, don’t you?”

He was indeed in a bit of a hurry, after all, time waits for no man. He had been out for several days now.

Shangguan Ruoxi didn’t answer his question “I don’t know, but I’ve met Ling Zeyu’s grandfather, my last name is Shangguan, Shangguan Ruoxi, how do I address you?”

“Yinian, Ling Yinian.” Hearing Shangguan Ruoxi mention Ling Zeyu’s grandfather, he was visibly relieved.

Shangguan Ruoxi raised an eyebrow, what about the surname Ling “Drink congee first, when you have the strength, tell me your story.”

    Ling Yinian nodded “Many thanks.”

He did pass out from exhaustion, hunger plus an inflamed wound.

It should be because Zhu Yao had fed him a small amount of spiritual spring water, and after eating the eight treasures congee, his spirit had already recovered for the most part.

So he told Shangguan Ruoxi his story.

The first half of the story is pretty cheesy, about how he became an ‘orphan’ with a father and mother after his parents divorced.

In order to be able to support himself, he took up racing with a group of punks in the community.

He’s been in all kinds of dangerous races as long as he’s paid a lot of money.

Unexpectedly, there was an accident on the way to one of the races, and the punks thought he was dead, so they left him in a mountain stream.

When he thought he would surely die, Ling Zeyu and some of his classmates went on a trek up the mountain and saved him.

Got him admitted to the hospital and paid for the surgery.

He just barely got his life back.

During the three months of hospitalization, the parents did not go to the hospital once.

Besides the caregiver only Ling Zeyu would visit him every weekend.

It was also Ling Zeyu who sponsored his schooling for several years afterward.

He changed his name to Ling Yi-nian when he applied for his ID card at the age of 16.

Later Ling Zeyu was specially recruited into the army.

He would have taken the Special Forces test after enlistment as well.
