    ◈ Episode 94 Magic Duel (2)

The audience’s reaction was that they had no understanding of what was happening.

The duel which was thought to be quite long and intense ended too quickly with a one-sided victory for one side.

    “Is this possible?”

“I heard that the other person is a professional hired by Luke at a large cost.”

They stared at Ludger’s figure in disbelief.

Ludger had not changed at all from the posture in which he raised his staff before entering the duel.

His expression didn’t even change as if it was obvious that he would win.

    “victor! Ludger Chelsea!”

Elisa Willow’s lively voice announced the end of the duel.

Only then did the atmosphere of the banquet hall which had been engulfed in silence and astonishment return to its original state.

    match. match.

People started clapping one by one.

Just as water drops fall on a quiet surface and create ripples the sound of applause spread contagiously and filled the entire banquet hall.

    Clap clap clap clap!

“Oh my god this is amazing! “Is this the ability of a teacher?”

“The magician hired by Luke’s company probably wasn’t an average match but he wasn’t even a match.”

“What on earth were those spells just now? The magic manifested so quickly! “I couldn’t even see the technique being implemented.”

“Were the rumors about using a unique magic technique true?”

Contrary to what I expected the duel itself didn’t feel like it ended too quickly.

Still for an impromptu event it was quite enjoyable so the audience was all satisfied.

    “This is true. “It’s amazing.”

Theodor cried out as he saw Elisa smiling brightly next to him as if she knew this would happen.

“The aide I gave to my son was a wizard who was quite popular but I never thought he would be defeated so quickly. “Are all the teachers in Seorn that kind of monster?”

“Ahaha. Is that possible? In fact Mr. Ludger is a particularly unique person.”

“Hmm. I see. Actually I don’t think there are more people like that. “I don’t know if there are people who have it worse.”

“I feel sorry for being a worse person. Is it better than that? “I get to show my child like that in front of everyone.”

Theodor chuckled and shook his head.

“I was worried for no reason. It’s my fault for having an ugly son. “This was a fair duel and as a notary I will accept this defeat cleanly.”

As he said that he looked pitifully at Ivan who was sitting down in his seat with a vain look on his face as if he still couldn’t believe his defeat.

“That idiot won’t even be able to accept that and will go on a rampage but you don’t have to worry about that. “I will come forward and stop everything.”

“As expected Chairman Theodor. “It’s nice that we can communicate well.”

“So there’s one thing I’d like to ask you.”

When Theodor Luke tried to get to the point Elisa shook her head sharply.

    “No.”

    “I haven’t said anything yet.”

“You’re asking me to introduce you to Professor Ludger right? no way. It’s obvious even if I don’t say it. “I’m sorry but please refrain from reaching out to our teacher.”

“…her. “If you say it that way there’s nothing I can do about it.”

In the end Theodor had no choice but to raise both his hands and neatly declare giving up in response to Elisa’s subtle warning.

This is because although Ludger is definitely a desirable talent I judged that it was not enough to create a relationship with him even if it meant being disliked by Seorn’s president.

Theodor was a great man with a huge influence on the empire’s political and financial world but there were quite a few people that even he could not mess with.

Elisa Willow the woman in front of me was one of them.

“Well I guess it would be shameless for us to say something like that.”

As Theodor said that he glanced sideways at the entrance to the banquet hall.

“But I don’t know what about the authors.”

    “…I see.”

Elisa followed Thedor to the entrance to the banquet hall and her expression hardened slightly.

I saw some unwelcome faces entering the banquet hall.

    * * *

    ‘This is so true.’

I was quite embarrassed inside as I saw Ivan Luke’s aide sprawled out in front of me.

Still I thought he was a decent person but who would have thought that he would fall down in vain like this?

‘He’s been showing off that he’s strong so he’s taking this seriously as well.’

It is true that I was a little worried because the other person could not use any magic.

But surprisingly my duel opponent was a wizard with a specialty in quick spells.

No matter what anyone says the most important thing in a duel between wizards is the speed of magic implementation.

Taking that into consideration the man in front of me could be seen as a top-notch talent specializing in one-on-one duels.

That’s probably why he confidently set out to deal with me.

He must have been confident that he could defeat the opponent right from the start with his specialty the rapid technique.

‘But…why are you using that against me?’

This is exactly why I was dumbfounded.

I know how to use source code.

I’m not bragging but even a level 5 or higher wizard couldn’t match the speed of magic expression using the source code I used.

As for tier 3 magic I can show a speed that is second to none.

Someone who uses high-speed magic against me is coming to a duel.

At this point I was so embarrassed that I thought I might have come out to lose on purpose.

‘Could it be that you didn’t know?’

I deliberately spread rumors by openly demonstrating source code magic in the first class but wouldn’t people know by this point?

However the fact that I decided to compete in a speed battle meant that I could not help but assume that the person in front of me did not know about the magic I was using.

no. Even if he knew he probably didn’t believe it was real.

There are a lot of wizards out there who would scoff and ask where such magic exists in the world.

My pride was a little hurt.

‘I guess it doesn’t matter since I won.’

The fallen aide was carried out by Luke’s bodyguards.

Ivan who could be said to be the culprit of all this still looked devastated as if he couldn’t believe that he had lost the duel.

    “this…!”

Finally he looked at me his eyes widened and his fists clenched.

But I couldn’t scream or scream like I did a little while ago.

It’s not like he had the ability to learn and learned something from his previous defeat.

Because his eyes were looking over my shoulder.

    “Is this Ludger Chelsea?”

A voice coming from behind me.

I slowly turned my head and looked at the owner of the voice.

An old man with a long white beard was standing holding a cane.

He was an unusual old man.

In a place where everyone was wearing sophisticated suits and dresses I was the only one wearing a robe that was large enough to stand out.

It was an outfit that wouldn’t be surprising if the guard at the entrance immediately kicked him out for not following the dress code.

However if a logo symbolizing a specific organization is sewn onto the robe the story is different.

“Are you from the Magic Tower?”

“Hoo. “You recognize it right away.”

At my words the old man’s eyes lit up and he chuckled.

A logo symbolizing a tall tower contained within a golden circle.

The old man in front of me was a wizard from the Magic Tower.

A wizard of quite high rank.

Even Ivan Luke the fool in the world was aware of the existence of the Magic Tower so he couldn’t step forward.

“So what is the reason you came to see me?”

    I didn’t even come alone.

Behind him were as many as five other wizards.

“I enjoyed watching the sparring a little while ago. The other person’s technique was fast to implement but theirs was even better. “I have never seen anyone manifest magic so quickly in my life.”

    “Is that so?”

“Is that the magic called [Source Code] that has been rumored?”

When I asked why he came I was wondering if it was because of this.

Since it wasn’t something to hide anyway I nodded.

    “you’re right.”

“Oh! That’s right! “It was like that too!”

The old man reacted violently like a child discovering a great toy.

The old man with wrinkles on his face gave such a strange reaction that I frowned without realizing it.

I asked in a slightly blunt tone.

“So why did you come to see me?”

“uh? Heh heh. this. Look at my mind. Come to think of it we didn’t even say anything to each other right?”

Instead of answering my question the old man went straight into introducing himself.

“I am Altego Dantes who holds a seat on the Senate of the Magic Tower.”

“…My name is Ludger Chelisi a teacher in Seorn.”

“I know. “The reason I came to this insignificant place in the first place was to meet you.”

An insignificant position? Still I think it’s a bit harsh to say this since it’s a banquet with a lot of distinguished guests.

    “You mean me?”

“okay. Ah anyway. “I was going to visit Seorn in person but who would have known that that wicked fox would interfere and disrupt everything.”

Ludger immediately recognized the fox that Altego was talking about.

    “oh. Aren’t you Altego Chairman?”

Because the person who is presumed to be the party or is actually certain came forward with a smile on his face.

Chairman Altego recognized the person speaking and frowned.

“Elisa Willow. You can see it all in a place like this. Is it okay for someone like the president to take up a position like this? “Your behavior is too light so why don’t you just step down?”

“So Chairman Altego what are you doing in this situation? You said that fancy formal settings aren’t for you. “Are you pretending not to be like that but because you like it because it’s a place where a lot of young people gather?”

“Should I reveal it to you in detail? “I just came because I had someone else to meet.”

“Ahaha. Chairman please show your true feelings. “Are you here to see our new teacher?”

The voice that said ‘we’ was especially powerful.

The president’s mood which had been consistently playful until now turned sour when he encountered Altego.

‘but. A young genius magician like the president would be as opposed to the stagnant and rotten elders of the Magic Tower as oil and water.’

The council of elders is the symbol of the Old Magic Tower.

On the contrary it would be the exact opposite of the president from New Magic Tower who accepts change and wants further development.

This is evident from the sharp reactions they show to each other.

“But this wouldn’t be a very suitable place for someone like you Chairman to come? “What on earth did you come here to get?”

“A dastardly fox should have blocked my path in the first place. So I came to this place myself. Get out of the way. “Because I have nothing to do with you.”

After saying that Altego tried to blatantly ignore the president.

    He said to me.

“Let me tell you bluntly that we won’t be able to talk about this for a long time anyway. Would you like to join our Magic Tower Society? “I promise to treat you with the best treatment.”

    “Chairman!”

Elisa screamed as if she didn’t know she was going to appeal so blatantly.

In fact Altego’s response was to ask where the dog was barking.

I too was equally surprised by Altego’s straightforward remarks.

Because his behavior just now was very rude.

Altego continued speaking ignoring the reactions around him.

“Would it be okay for a wizard of your caliber to waste his talent teaching a bunch of kids? When I first heard rumors about the source code I was skeptical but after seeing the couplet a while ago I was convinced. “You are a talent worthy of our Mage Tower.”

    “….”

“So what is it like? I will write a letter of recommendation myself. “If you only come to the Magic Tower you can occupy a particularly high position.”

Judging by the reaction it appears that they had tried to contact me before but were thwarted by the president’s constant interference.

At that moment he must have taken advantage of the banquet being held to come and visit.

“It will be good for you too. Will anyone even notice that I only work as a teacher at an academy? What about students? Do you think those pale little bastards even know about magic? But the Magic Tower is different. “Isn’t this the place that all wizards on the continent most want to come to?”

Altego couldn’t control his excitement and started chattering about the magic tower.

This is what he said in summary.

Magic Tower is the best all other places are trash.

It was a really arrogant thing to say but in some ways it wasn’t really wrong.

The majesty of the Magic Tower was certainly great enough for him to be proud of.

I pretended to think for a while and then opened my mouth.

“If I decide to go to the Magic Tower what can you do for me?”

    “oh.”

    “Mr. Ludger?”

The joy of knowing that Altego would be like this.

    President Elisa asks incredulously.

“Hehe! What do you want? Do you want a lot of money? The amount of donations that comes to the Magic Tower every year is comparable to that of Seorn! “I don’t know how much they pay you but we can pay you at least three times that!”

    “….”

“Or do you want power? If you come under my wing and submit a magic thesis you will be granted the position of Chief Wizard directly under the Council of Elders! Or do you want a great artifact? “I can bring that to you if you want!”

    “then.”

    I got to the point.

“If I were to ask you for a seat on the 12 Elders of the Magic Tower would you give it to me?”

    “what?”

    Altego’s face was momentarily distorted.

The same goes for the five wizards who were lined up behind him and listening to the conversation.

Eventually they realized what I had said and started to show hostility.

“…what does that mean now? “A seat for the council of elders?”

    “That’s literally it.”

“Are you crazy now? When you enter the Magic Tower you should know how to say ‘thank you’. They even give you money! But what? A seat on the council of elders? “You don’t know what kind of seat that is?!”

“I know. “I know it very well.”

How could I not know that place?

    How could you not know?

“Isn’t this a place for people who boast about their age and have no ability?”

“…Are you sincere? Or maybe you’re just spitting it out because you’re drunk?”

“That sounds like a sane thing to say.”

    “Are you sane?”

Altego’s face changed to resemble that of a pigeon that had been shot.

He glared at me and gritted his teeth.

“Not only do you dare refuse the Magic Tower’s offer but you dare blaspheme the name of the Magic Tower Elders’ Council? But are you still sane? Are you under the illusion that just because you developed a new magic means you have something to do with it?!”

The old man who had been chatting happily just a moment ago was nowhere to be found.

Artego’s forehead was full of blood and his face was dyed bright red.

“There are things you can say and things you shouldn’t say…!”

“I guess I may have said it in a difficult way.”

    “what?”

    “So my point is this.”

I looked down at the old man in front of me who had been consumed by the ideology of the chosen people.

“No matter what encouragement I give I won’t go to a place like the Magic Tower.”
