    ◈ Episode 80: Approaching night walk (2)

“…I’ll get ready and go soon.”

I closed the door and returned to my room.

I stood quietly in front of the closet and thought about why this happened.

The security bureau came to visit me. Speaking of knights it would of course be the Nightcrawler Knights.

‘Are they the ones I saw last night?’

Why did the security bureau engineer come here?

You must be busy investigating the incident that occurred in Lederbelk so why did you come to Seorn to visit me?

Are you sure I’m the culprit?

‘no. no. ‘I’m worried for no reason.’

If they had known that I was a criminal they would have issued a warrant and forcibly dragged me away instead of simply coming as a guest.

Or like secretly coming to see me in the middle of the night.

The fact that they came to me in such a polite way meant that they still didn’t know that I was the culprit.

‘Nevertheless he came to see me. What does it have to do with it?’

I was able to think of it right away.

    Werewolf.

The death of Bellbot Rickson in Lederbelk was revealed to be the work of a werewolf.

And that werewolf also appeared in Seorn.

‘I was the one who killed that werewolf.’

That may be why they came to see a teacher named Ludger Chelisi.

They are causing a setback in the investigation of the case. I know something definitely happened but all the key pieces of the puzzle are missing.

The only remaining clue was probably Seorn.

So that means my identity hasn’t been revealed yet.

‘But it’s too early to let down your guard. If I show any signs of being suspicious they will immediately suspect me.’

Especially if the guest who really came this time is the girl I know Terry or Ryan Howl.

In some ways this could have been the biggest crisis of my life.

Because her senses belong to something higher not human.

Even so I cannot refuse to meet people who come here.

If a new teacher suddenly refuses a visit from the Knights of Nightcrawler it just seems suspicious.

If I make an excuse and refuse to meet with them I am giving them an excuse to cling to me even more.

‘I guess I’ll have to meet him first.’

Anyway they know me as Seorn’s new teacher Ludger Chelisi.

They don’t know about my past.

For this meeting I just need to lightly respond to the investigation.

With that in mind I adjusted my collar and dressed neatly. She wore a black frock coat and tied up her flowing hair with a string.

Since it was still morning the air was a little cool so I lightly wore a muffler around my neck.

    That’s enough.

After checking my outfit in the mirror I put on my shoes and immediately opened the front door.

And what I see is a pink cotton ball under my eye.

“ah. Mr. Ludger! “Are you out?”

Cottonball turned around as if he heard the door opening.

    No it was Teacher Selina.

    “Surely you were waiting?”

    “Yeah whatever.”

She slightly averted her gaze and smiled awkwardly.

“If I had known that would happen I would have come out a little earlier.”

“Oh no! “I was the one who waited arbitrarily so there’s no need for Mr. Ludger to move in a hurry because of me!”

“Thank you for your consideration. “Then let’s go.”

    “yes!”

Well anyway it’s going to school with the same teachers.

I guess no one has anything to say.

I still wanted to ask Teacher Selina the whole story.

I walked at a pace with her and naturally began asking questions.

“The Security Bureau suddenly came to see me. Did you hear why?”

“Oh yes. I think it’s because of the investigation into the werewolf situation. “Recently a werewolf appeared in Seorn so I guess it’s because I wanted to ask Mr. Ludger who solved the case right?”

    “okay.”

Hmm. Is it because of that?

But even if you ask me specifically you won’t get the answer you want.

You probably don’t know that but is this a struggle to somehow catch hold of the rotten rope?

“More than that Mr. Ludger are you finished preparing for the exam? “This is the first test I’m taking.”

“yes. “I tried it and somehow it worked.”

“and! It’s amazing. “I’m worried about how to level the difficulty level and how to present the problems so that students can do their best to solve them.”

    “I agree.”

Certainly from a teacher’s perspective creating test questions is quite difficult.

It shouldn’t be too easy but it shouldn’t be too difficult either.

Although there are differences in each problem even if it is a difficult problem to develop discrimination it is important to make people think carefully rather than just make it infinitely difficult.

Problems that require a change in thinking.

From the point of view of the solver rather than being criticized for solving everything and saying it is extremely difficult say ‘Ah!’ Wouldn’t students be satisfied if it was a matter of making them feel a sense of accomplishment?

‘But it’s not as easy as it sounds.’

What each person accepts is different. Since it was something that could not provide true satisfaction to everyone it was quite a headache for the test takers.

Well anyway I will take the first part lightly.

Even if students came to Seorn and studied how much would they have learned?

The important thing is to check how solid their foundation has been.

It would be appropriate to submit tests that require in-depth courses only after the third time.

    At least I think so.

Seorn’s main building was visible in front of me. Now it was time to break up with her.

“I’ll just go and greet the guests. Thank you for your hard work.”

“yes! Good luck to you Teacher Ludger!”

She waved at me and was about to leave when she stopped me to see if something occurred to her.

    “Oh indeed! “Mr. Ludger!”

“yes. “Do you have anything else to say?”

In response to my question Teacher Selina opened her mouth with a slightly meaningful smile.

“They are quite scary so be careful.”

Then he turned his back and walked away at a brisk pace.

Be careful? I was already fully aware of that.

Are they scary people? Have you even met in person?

‘But why did Miss Selina tell me that?’

Is this an intentional warning? Or is he just giving me advice because he thinks I’m nervous?

I don’t know why but that wasn’t what mattered right away.

I raised my head and looked towards where my teacher’s office was.

‘Is this an article from the Security Bureau?’

The only way to do this is to meet him.

I entered the main building and headed to where my teacher’s office was.

The inside was quiet with no one in sight.

It’s because it’s the middle of class time.

But this silence was strangely annoying.

Eventually I arrived at the teacher’s office took a deep breath and opened the door.

    Rattling.

When the door opens what I see is my office and my personal space as it was before I left.

The only difference would be the person thumbing through a book in the study room.

The guest looks this way as if he sensed a presence.

I stared at that figure quietly.

    “Ah you are Ludger Chelsea.”

    no.

She wasn’t what I thought she was.

The person standing in front of me was a man. A man with a strict look with his hair neatly pulled back and wearing rimless glasses.

    Black uniform and gold epaulettes.

It is clear from the clothing that proves that he is an agent of the Security Bureau.

‘It wasn’t Terry or Ryan Howl.’

Maybe I looked at it wrong that day.

I sighed in relief and accepted his greeting.

“nice to meet you. “My name is Ludger Chelisi a teacher in Seorn.”

“My name is Lloyd and I am an agent of the Secret Service.”

Lloyd. Even though they don’t have a last name it can’t be said that they are commoners.

Because agents belonging to the Security Bureau do not properly reveal their identities.

They didn’t even say he was a knight. All I said was that I was an agent.

Did they intentionally hide it or did they feel there was no need to boast about it?

I rolled my eyes slightly and looked at his outfit. It is a neat outfit with no wrinkles. His hair is not disheveled and his posture is as straight as a ruler.

Although I guessed it from his appearance he is clearly a person who likes to be quite neat.

‘Are your hands bare without gloves?’

The stocky physique and rough hands revealed through his uniform clearly proved that he was a knight.

“I kept the customer waiting for a long time.”

“no. Rather we feel sorry for coming to you without contacting you in advance.”

“Please sit down. Do you like coffee or tea?”

“sorry. “Because we are careful not to put food in our mouths during work hours.”

    “All right.”

I placed the guest table in the middle and sat facing Lloyd.

He was staring with an intense gaze as if he was trying to see right through me.

For me who was worried about the appearance of a lion I only felt like I was encountering a wildcat.

“So what is the reason you came to see me?”

I got straight to the point.

“I heard that a werewolf appeared in Lederbelk this time.”

“yes. “Not this time but some time has passed.”

“And I also heard that you were the one who eliminated that werewolf Mr. Ludger.”

“you’re right. “I took care of it.”

    “That’s amazing.”

“I just did what I had to do as a teacher.”

    Light-hearted questions and answers.

    Words and words.

However there was a subtle current flowing within it.

    “That’s why.”

Lloyd loses his luck for a moment.

I thought what was coming was coming.

“Did you notice anything strange about that werewolf?”

    “You mean something strange?”

okay. As expected the Security Department also realized that werewolves were involved in something.

But I didn’t show my emotions outwardly.

There was also a look of wonder and a look of naturalness.

Just respond to customers with the same attitude as the first time.

“I don’t know what you find strange.”

“It was because it was strange that a werewolf appeared in Seorn.”

“The investigation revealed that the werewolf came from outside. A huge sewer pipe that runs between Seorn and Lederbelk. “They crawled in here through there.”

    I didn’t lie.

In fact the werewolf entered Seorn by climbing up the large sewer pipe.

It might be impossible for an ordinary human but it was quite possible for a werewolf.

“hmm. I see. “I heard that Mr. Ludger fought head-on with a werewolf.”

“yes. you’re right. “They tried to threaten the students so I came forward.”

    “How did you fight?”

    Strange question.

But I guess it’s because I’m anxious because I’m not getting the answer I want.

Instead of asking why I was asking that I answered the truth as it was.

“I used magic. It was elemental magic. “I dodged its attacks as much as possible burning its fur with flames and piercing its body with its ice spear.”

    “I see.”

“But because he was such a strong guy he felt his life was in danger and ran away into the forest. So we chased after him and succeeded in eliminating him within the forest.”

“Have you had any other problems?”

“Nothing happened except for some energetic students who set out to catch the werewolf.”

    “hmm. okay.”

    Lloyd didn’t seem very surprised.

It’s almost like a natural reaction that you already knew.

I see. I already heard the report and knew the circumstances of the incident but did you ask again just to make me feel better?

Are there any differences between my testimony and the account he confirmed?

Perhaps because he belongs to the Security Bureau his thoroughness was evident in not wanting to miss the strangeness of this moment.

    “Then let’s ask another question.”

    “yes. by all means.”

Lloyd asked me several questions after that but I was not embarrassed and answered naturally.

The question and answer session that followed ended after another 5 minutes.

Lloyd stood up and offered to shake my hand.

“Thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedule.”

“These are people who work for the country but I feel very sad about them.”

I took Lloyd’s hand and shook it.

“Then I’ll just go. It was an honor to meet you. “Mr. Ludger Chelisi.”

“yes. I was also honored. Mr. Lloyd.”

Lloyd bowed lightly to me and left the teacher’s office.

The interrogation by the Nightcrawler Knights of the Security Bureau ended like this.

    * * *

    “Whoa.”

Lloyd waited for his boss at the meeting place recalling the conversation that had just occurred.

When there were 10 minutes left until the appointed time I saw two familiar figures beyond.

    “Captain. “Are you here?”

    “okay.”

The leader Terryna Ryan Howl and his deputy Enya.

The two were also visiting Seorn. However unlike Lloyd who met Ludger Chelsea the two went to check on the scene.

    “Did you find any clues?”

“no. I even received permission to investigate with the help of the president but I didn’t see anything to suggest that. So did you find out anything?”

“no. “I didn’t really gain anything.”

“Is there anything suspicious about that man named Ludger?”

“As far as I know I didn’t notice anything strange.”

    “Hmm.”

Terina didn’t get the answer she expected but she wasn’t disappointed.

Just in case I gave Lloyd one command.

“Lloyd. “Did I follow through on what I said?”

“yes. “I did as you asked before we parted ways.”

In response to Terina’s question Lloyd nodded with a serious expression.

    “So how was it?”

Terina asked with a sharp gaze as if this was the most important thing.

“Did the hand he shook belong to a trained person?”
