◈ Episode 50 Anti Magic (2)
Chris thought it had finally come.
He had proposed a bet with Ludger. They decided which of their students would win this sparring and the loser gave one of their magic research papers to the winner for free.
It was no one else but Chris himself who suggested it first.
Since I declared in front of many students that I would make a bet I couldn’t even say no.
Chris was about to say something when he gave Ludger a hard look.
“Did you… know that that commoner student possesses anti-magic?”
“yes. “Yes.”
Chris cried out in tears at the answer that seemed so obvious.
“Did you make this bet even though you knew that?”
“hmm. “I don’t understand why Mr. Chris is so angry.”
“I’m saying that now….”
“Didn’t you know Teacher Chris that Aidan possesses anti-magic?”
“….”
At those words Chris became dumbfounded.
It was just as Ludger said.
He didn’t know that Aidan was anti-magic.
okay. I didn’t know this so I allowed this sparring.
“I heard that Teacher Chris is in charge of first-year students but haven’t you checked on the first-year students who entered school this time?”
“….”
“Above all Aidan did not use anti-magic even once during the entire sparring. Did you see that his mastery of anti-magic had an effect on the outcome of the sparring match?”
Chris closed his mouth.
As Ludger said Chris was not in a position to dare to criticize this match.
I knew it but the one who didn’t try to find out was him not anyone else.
Because they were commoners and insignificant children no attention was paid to them. I didn’t think it was necessary.
The narrow-minded thoughts he always had ended up spinning around like a boomerang and flying towards him.

Who should we blame for that?
Ludger who knew but didn’t say anything?
Aidan a commoner who learned anti-magic?
no.
In the end it is you who is at fault.
Without making any preparations or even thinking about gathering information in advance I just vaguely assumed I would win.
His arrogance was the cause of his defeat.
“If you had checked carefully what special skills your students had something like today wouldn’t have happened.”
“….”
Chris couldn’t reply and just chewed his lips.
okay. It was clearly his mistake not to realize anti-magic.
However what hurts my pride even more than that is that the outcome of this sparring was not determined by that anti-magic.
Aidan didn’t even use half a word of anti-magic in his sparring.
He defeated Jeban purely by using only what he learned from his time in Seorn.
There was no way I could say things like cowardice or foul play.
The moment he says that is when he truly loses.
Ludger cried out as he looked at Chris who was trembling and unable to say anything.
“I remember that the prize for the bet was an academic paper on magic.”
“…I did. great. “What can I give you?”
“nothing.”
Chris was confused by those words.
“What on earth are you doing now…?”
“I will not accept anything.”
“nothing? Why suddenly…”
“Not suddenly. “I planned to do this from the beginning.”
Chris couldn’t understand Ludger’s actions.
no. Actually I understood it but it was closer to trying to deny that reality.
“It is disrespectful to rob others of their teachings in exchange for a bet.”
With those words Ludger turned his back and left.
It seems as if he has no intention of continuing the conversation with himself.
Chris looked devastated at that sight.
‘It’s lowering its status?’
Even when I was ignored by him or when I lost a bet I never got this annoyed.
However even though Ludger won the bet instead of receiving anything from him he said that the act of betting itself was inferior.
Beyond being annoyed Chris felt a sense of dejection.
The man was like a mirror. A mirror of the mind that reflects the ugly side of this side so clearly.
The more he opposed him and glared at him with stronger hatred the more disgusting his reflection became.

‘This Chris Benimore… is calling me inferior?’
Chris bit his lip. A trickle of blood flowed from the corner of his mouth.
He couldn’t even think of cleaning it. He just glared at Ludger’s back with bloodshot eyes.
‘Ludger Chelsea.’
How much longer do we have to trample on this side’s pride before our anger goes away?
I can’t forgive. It is unacceptable.
Next time I will definitely repay you for the humiliation I suffered this time.
“Mr. Chris.”
Hugo approached and called out to him but Chris did not respond.
He didn’t want anyone to see this ugly side of him right now so he hurriedly ran away.
Hugo’s face contorted at that sight and he couldn’t help but swallow his annoyance as he saw the president smiling softly.
This event will be remembered as a shameful day for the nobility on a large scale.
‘Ludger Chelsea.’
Thinking of the man who was the culprit of all this.
Hugo Bourtegue gritted his teeth inwardly.

Aidan who was intoxicated with the joy of victory with his friends suddenly remembered the promise he made to Jevan.
His eyes turned to Jevan who staggered out of his seat.
The three people looked at each other nodded and walked towards Jeban.
“What?”
Jevan asked in a weak voice as he saw Aidan and his friends coming this way.
“Is there anything left to laugh at me more?”
“Everything. “You probably didn’t forget the promise you made before sparring right?”
Jevan’s face crumpled mercilessly at the word promise.
I couldn’t even think about it because I couldn’t get over the shock of defeat.
“Jevan Pelio. “I would like to sincerely apologize here and now for saying harsh words to my friends.”
“Now how dare you… apologize to me?”
“You were the one who made the first bet and invited to spar. Everything. I’m just saying stick with it. Hurry up and apologize. “Respectfully.”
“….”
Jevan clenched his fists but that was all.
He was completely defeated by Aidan. Even the surprise attack failed.
It wasn’t just that I lost I struggled and lost ugly.
There was no longer any place for him to stand in Seorn.
Jevan cried because he felt unfairly treated.
“Damn it. It’s all because of you! Because of you I…!”
“Jeban.”
“shut up! Don’t call my name! If it weren’t for you I wouldn’t have gone through this ugly situation in front of everyone! okay! “It’s all your fault!”
“….”
Seeing Jevan talking while half out of his mind Teysi was so upset that she tried to leave.
Aidan raised his hand to stop her.
“Aidan. why?”
“Because it’s no use coming forward.”
Aidan knew. No matter what Teishi says here Jevan won’t listen to it.
Aidan realized something big when he saw Jevan’s behavior.
I believed that the reason people fight between people is because they do not know each other and when they get to know each other the story will be different.
I thought that if we talked we would get to know each other and that way we could become friends.
But Aidan still couldn’t forget the lifeless expressions on everyone’s faces.
I felt like my thoughts were shaken by that sight.
Meanwhile Jeban cried even more desperately.
“shit! Damn it! I can’t stay in Seorn anymore because of you dirty commoners! We the Pelio family will not be able to raise our heads no matter where we go from now on! Because of you! Because of you guys!”
Jevan has already erased from his memory any foul play or cowardly action he committed.
I just couldn’t bear it because I was so frustrated and mortified that I had to go through this.
“why! Why does someone like you have that ability? “Why don’t I have one?”
“Jeban.”
“Damn it. Damn it. “I just wanted to improve my family’s reputation!”
Jevan lowered his head and screamed.
Even if he knew his method was wrong he wouldn’t have stopped. Because I just aimed for that purpose.
Aidan looked at everyone like that and tried to say something but kept his mouth shut.
It was difficult to carry on a proper conversation let alone receive an apology from everyone in that state.
Even Teishi who would normally have been angry and told him to do everything in moderation was silent as he saw how ruined Jeban was.
She also felt like her heart was being squeezed by the sight of everyone acting like that to raise the family’s status.
‘Maybe I ended up like that too.’
When that thought occurred to her she was startled and trembled.
At that moment a cold voice settled between them.
“The sparring is over so what are you still doing here?”
“Mr. Ludger.”
Ludger dressed in an all-black outfit gave off a strange aura that could not be resisted.
He stared at Aidan and his friends then shot a cold shot at Jevan who sat down and sobbed.
“Jevan Pelio. “What are you doing after losing in sparring?”
“….”
“Not only did he lose the fight but he refused to accept his defeat and even attacked him in an ugly way. Why is he crying because he feels so unfair? “Do you deserve it now?”
“Mr. Lou Ludger.”
Aidan thought it might be too harsh so he stepped forward but Ludger didn’t stop.
“It’s insignificant. It’s so insignificant. “Isn’t the way you look now much worse than the commoners you always hated and despised?”
“…What do you know!”
In the end Jevan couldn’t stand it anymore and jumped up from his seat glaring at Ludger.
“How do I know what I feel?”
“Do I need to know?”
“…what what?”
“Do I really need to know that?”
“this person…!”
Jevan was about to shout something but when he met Ludger’s eyes the thought went away.
The burning anger was extinguished in an instant and what took its place was fear.
Ludger’s eyes are staring at me with that cold gaze.
It was like a nightmare faced in pitch-black darkness.
“You get into arguments as you please and you lose bets as you please. The fact that you didn’t even accept that and collapsed was all your own fault. But then again you expect others to understand how you feel. “Why should we know how you feel?”
“That…”
“Do you still think this is your family? Do I look like a babysitter who listens to your complaints?”
“I am I….”
“The kid who can’t even tell his own story properly just squawks and shouts out his frustration like a baby bird. If you don’t even know how shameful your actions are you are disqualified as a wizard. “What is a noble and what is a wizard?”
Unlike Ludger Jevan could not maintain his sanity due to the almost violent words.
“I am…”
“It’s noisy. I don’t even want to listen to your excuses. “The indecent behavior you showed earlier will be referred to the disciplinary committee so know that and get out of my sight right now.”
Jevan’s complexion turned pale at Ludger’s warning which was almost threatening and he took a shaky step backwards and eventually ran out of the stadium.
The three musketeers who watched the scene in silence from beginning to end all had the same thought.
It’s definitely a shame but I wonder if it was too much.
In particular Aidan’s expression was not very good.
“Aidan.”
“Yes sir.”
“I was able to properly implement the maneuver technique. “Good job.”
“It’s all thanks to you teacher.”
“But even though you won you don’t look bright.”
“that….”
Aidan couldn’t understand why he was feeling so down.
He clearly won the sparring match in front of everyone. There was no doubt that I was happy about that.
Is it because I heard everyone’s screaming cries afterwards?
“I… I don’t know.”
“Not sure?”
“There was definitely a sense of exhilaration at first. My class insulted my friends and started picking fights with me. The thought of wanting to defeat all those people has certainly not changed. But… the problem came after that.”
“Were you shaken by those harsh words just now?”
“Obviously there was no need to listen to that. yes. All I had to do was just ignore it. But… that didn’t work.”
Aidan spoke honestly with a bitter smile.
Ludger looked at Aidan in silence.
I knew from before that Aidan was overly just and had correct values but I never expected him to be this weak-hearted.
He has sympathy even for those who ignored and looked down on him.
But if you were to ask if that appearance was bad it wasn’t.
Aidan is a young student in this shining world called Seorn.
Because I’m a student I’m young.
That’s quite possible. That’s okay. I couldn’t blame him for being stupid or frustrated.
Because that was the way that child looked at the world.
“Aidan.”
“yes. teacher.”
“As you live in this world one day you will encounter various people.”
“yes?”
“Listen carefully. That means not everyone is like you. Some people will hate you hate you and be hostile towards you. That’s the way it is in the end. “Because your world and other people’s world are different.”
“…I guess so.”
“But that changes depending on how each other behaves.”
At those words Aidan and Tayce Leo looked at Ludger as if they were slightly surprised.
“The act of taking care of only one’s own is not a bad thing. And the act of giving up everything is not stupid. But in the end what is needed to live in this world is moderation.”
“Adequate….”
“It’s half. Aidan. Selfishness and altruism are about half the amount. If I give half to someone instead of taking half. “The day will come when we will understand each other to some extent.”
At those words Aidan looked back at Tacie.
I definitely remember that my first meeting with her wasn’t that good.
Teishi was like a rose full of thorns.
But at some point the two started hanging out together often.
“I won’t tell you not to give in to anyone or be inconsiderate. Because it seems impossible to you. So that’s what I’m saying. It doesn’t have to be everything. But it’s okay to be selfish at least half the time.”
half.
At those words Aidan felt an itch as if he was about to catch something.
“I said too much. “I’ll just go.”
“That Mr. Ludger!”
“what?”
“…those words. “I will definitely listen carefully.”
Ludger glanced back at Aidan who answered with a determined expression before nodding slightly and leaving the stadium.
The three people stared at Ludger’s back in silence until he disappeared.
