◈ Episode 243 Rhapsody on a Rainy Day (2)
“Do you have any business for me?”
Even though Ludger does not show his emotions outwardly a subtle hostility was evident in his voice.
To that extent the person in front of me was someone I couldn’t think of well.
Because the headquarters of those who branded themselves denied their very existence and tried to kill them was the Holy Kingdom of Bretus.
Above all the Lumensis Church is a fanatical group that extremely praises only the main god Lumensis.
They didn’t do that in the past but now they are the only ones left with pure obsession and madness.
How many atrocities have they committed in the name of believing in God?
“It’s a coincidence that I got to meet such a renowned magic teacher so why not start by naming him in full. My name is Freden and I am a lamb who believes in the Lord Lumensis. “He may be humble but he serves as the bishop of Lederbelk.”
Freden the parish priest of the Lederbelk branch.
She had the appearance of a friendly religious person that could be seen anywhere.
From his kind smile to his not-intimidating physique.
Anyone who met her for the first time would believe she was just a friendly lady next door.
But Ludger knows.
That appearance is a mask of deception created to deceive the other person.
The tone of voice and every little action is flawless.
Therefore it felt artificial and even unpleasant.
“Mr Ludger Chelisi. Is that correct? “I wanted to meet you sometime.”
“You haven’t answered my question yet.”
A voice so cold that even the falling rain froze came from Ludger’s mouth.
A spirit that would make even someone with a fairly strong heart back away in surprise.
However Freden bowed his head without changing his smile.
“I guess I just said what I had to say didn’t I? Please forgive me.”
“I didn’t say this hoping for an apology. “Please explain properly the purpose of coming to me.”
Freden appeared by pretending to be a coincidence but Ludger knows.
She had been hiding and watching this area for a while now.

“yes. okay. “The reason I came to visit Mr. Ludger Chelisi was because I wanted to meet the man of rumors.”
“Are you saying you waited for me on a rainy day for just that reason?”
“Rain is the grace of Lumensis that makes crops grow abundantly. There’s no reason to hate it. “I actually feel grateful.”
“Excessive rain rots the roots of plants and causes rivers to overflow. Do you feel grateful for that?”
“If grace causes harm it is also His will.”
Ludger did not refute Freden’s words while smiling.
I didn’t even feel it was worth refuting.
“Mr. Ludger doesn’t seem very pleased with me.”
“No one welcomes guests who come without an agreement. Even more so if he is a member of the Lumensis Church.”
“Hmm. That’s strange. “We the Lumensis Church would not have had any contact with Teacher Ludger Chelisi.”
“Now we have a point of contact. “It’s also very unpleasant.”
“You don’t have to be so alert.”
“Isn’t it quite suspicious in the first place why a wizard who is said to have gained fame in a religious order that defines magic itself as heretical is visiting?”
Freden covered his mouth with his hand and laughed at Ludger’s words.
“Hoho. Did you see it that way? It may have been like that in the past but our denomination has changed. Now even wizards are children of Lumensis.”
“You’re talking too long.”
Ludger spoke as if cutting off Freden.
“Please just state the requirements briefly. “I don’t feel like talking to anyone right now.”
“….”
Freden let out a small sigh at that sight.
I realized that Ludger would not take it kindly if I said anything more than this.
“All right. “First of all the reason I came to see Mr. Ludger Chelisi was not only because I was curious but also because I wanted to make a suggestion.”
“What are you suggesting?”
“Please don’t be surprised and listen. Other people may not feel it but I can. Mr. Ludger Chelisi. “You were born to receive God’s blessings.”
Ludger closed his eyes for a moment and then opened them.
His still cold eyes tried to read whether Freden was sincere in saying those words.
“What do you mean by that?”
“The sacred power flowing from Mr. Ludger. That is definitely proof that you have been blessed by God. It is a loss to the world as a whole to have that talent wasted elsewhere. so….”
“Are you telling me to take refuge in the Lumensis Church now?”
“yes. “You saw it correctly.”
“I was wondering what on earth you were going to say but it’s literally not worth listening to. “I’ll pretend I didn’t hear what just happened.”
Despite Ludger’s cold answer Freden did not want to give up.
Others couldn’t see it but she saw it.
The energy overflowing from Ludger’s body.
If used in a good direction it would definitely bring blessings to the world but if used in the wrong direction it would be a disaster for the world.
“I don’t say this lightly. “I really thought of Mr. Ludger…”
“If you think of me.”

Ludger widened his eyes and glared at Freden.
“At least that person shouldn’t have come.”
Freden was speechless due to the intense hostility towards this side.
She raised her hands in prayer.
“Oh my god. Right light for this lamb.”
It wasn’t Ludger who couldn’t hear the murmur but he didn’t bother to point it out.
No matter what I say here it will be more annoying.
“Before you leave let me tell you something.”
“….”
“A lot has been happening in Lederbelk lately. With the resurrected Demon Beast King an ugly safflower bloomed outside the city today. “I hope you don’t get offended.”
Freden was giving this advice out of genuine concern but Ludger who heard it could only laugh out loud.
“I’ll just go now. Have a good time.”
Freden prayed again and left.
Ludger stared at Freden and then turned his head.
I gazed at the night view of Lederbelk while holding an umbrella.
With the rain gradually getting thicker water fog began to rise throughout Lederbelk.
The clear sound of falling raindrops hitting the umbrella was like a fantastic rhapsody.
‘It’s becoming a nuisance.’
However even that static beauty did not impress Ludger much.
If it hadn’t been for the meeting a little while ago I would have been alone in the lingering thoughts but what Freden said bothered me.
‘Is the power of God which was previously suppressed now visible to the parish president?’
Freden said he had a holy aura blessed by God.
The parish priest who had a much higher rank and greater ability than an ordinary priest said such things.
There were no lies there to please this side.
If this was probably the reason for the approach Ludger had no choice but to accept it.
‘No one caught it before.’
After maintaining the sealing technique Ludger was not pursued by the Lumensis Church and was not detected even when he wandered the world and met members of the Lumensis Church.
But today.
That too a little while ago.
Parish Bishop Freden saw the energy flowing from Ludger.
That means that a little bit of the power he had been suppressing was starting to flow out.
‘If we were to find the cause it would be because we have frequently used the power of God recently.’
He thought he used it after thorough calculations but the results were different from what he expected.
‘Seeing as how he withdrew after I refused he must still be feeling ambiguous about it.’
If Freden had really known Ludger’s power he would have tried to persuade him even if it meant rolling his eyes.
No maybe he guessed Ludger’s identity.
Anyone who is at the level of a parish priest will have stories they heard in their home country.
‘Is it time to revisit the sealing technique?’
But Ludger vaguely felt it.
That the power of God cannot be completely excluded from the events he will face in the future.
‘Furthermore the Lumensis Church has begun to move in earnest. ‘If you look at the fact that they who have been locked up until now are beginning to exert influence on the outside it seems like everything that happened in their home country is over.’
Succession process to determine the next success.
What had lasted for a long time has finally come to an end.
‘The world will soon be noisy about the ascension of a new success.’
With the work of the Black Dawn still remaining it was unwelcome for Ludger to see even the Holy Kingdom of Bretus move.
No matter how hard he tries to ignore them since Ludger’s birth is related the thread of that relationship will one day catch up with him.
Even if he modifies the sealing technique hides his identity and continues his life on the run again.
Waiting is just a process of postponement that postpones a certain result.
‘In the end this side will have to speed up as well.’
In order to do so there was no choice but to collect fragments of relics whose whereabouts were certain.
‘The target is a fragment of the relic in the imperial palace. I take it with me on field trips.’
* * *
“Ugh. it’s annoying.”
Casey Selmore returned to the dorm and flopped onto the bed.
As someone who had been detained in a detention center until just moments ago today could easily be called the worst day.
It would have been even more terrifying if I hadn’t known the officers.
As I turned my head slightly while lying in bed I saw water droplets flowing outside the window.
It was raining outside.
‘Come to think of it it rained when I first came to this city.’
Casey was moved to tears when he remembered his purpose for coming to Lederbelk.
‘Now that I think about it everything that happened today is because of that person right?’
In fact Ludger had not done anything but Casey had already formed an image of Ludger as the source of all evil.
Casey took a piece of paper out of his pocket.
It was imbued with Ludger’s magic and was the only key containing his past that he had thought of seeing before.
‘Even now…’
It was a moment when I thought I had to see it.
Tuk-tuk.
Casey jumped up from the bed at the sound coming from outside the window.
I was curious and saw a crow tapping on the window with its beak.
“crow?”
The crow had a letter in its mouth and when it saw that Casey had found him it soon left the letter on the window sill and flew away.
Casey opened the window and picked up the letter.
It was a little wet but that didn’t matter.
When she lightly used magic the water that had seeped into the letter turned into drops and came out.
‘This…’
The moment he saw the crow the image of a man naturally appeared in Casey’s mind.
‘James Moriarty. What kind of trick is this time?’
Casey opened the letter and examined its contents.
Contrary to what I thought would be a lot of content the text inside was very monotonous.
-Be careful.
Straight and clean letters as if printed on a typewriter.
However when Casey realized the meaning of the letter he unconsciously raised his guard to the limit.
‘Be careful?’
There may be no particular reason why Ludger sent a letter telling people to be careful.
But at this moment.
Casey’s instincts told her that the warning was sincere and blatantly representative of her current situation.
Casey’s eyes scanned the interior of his room.
Her own messy but quiet space filled with all kinds of things.
No one would question the natural appearance of the inside which was no different from usual.
“…That’s it. “What nonsense am I thinking?”
Casey shook his head and roughly threw the letter in his hand into the trash can.
Phew!
At that moment a white blade suddenly pierced through her chest.
It was a surprise attack from a black shadow that fell from the ceiling.
“uh?”
Casey looked at the blade sticking out of his chest.
Sigh.
Soon a smile appeared on my lips.
Sigh!
Soon Casey’s appearance turned into water and disappeared from his spot.
“what?!”
The assassin could not hide his bewilderment as he suddenly saw a person turn into water.
At that moment Casey’s voice came from the air.
“Why are you surprised? “Did you think I didn’t know?”
From the moment Casey entered his room.
I knew that someone was hiding somewhere I couldn’t see.
They hid in secret thinking they had left each item untouched.
However Casey’s almost supernatural powers of analysis and reasoning did not miss even the slightest hint of change.
Just in case I deliberately used my water clone to show an opening but I never thought they would really try to kill me.
“This surprise attack happened at the timing when the man sent out a warning.”
Casey who was hiding himself by distorting the light with a thin film of water sneered at the assassins.
I had a rough guess as to who had instigated this.
“You guys are out of luck.”
The hidden assassins appeared at once.
From the ceiling. From the floor. From beyond the curtain.
Their movements were silent and stealthy and agile like animals.
They pointed daggers at Casey but Casey’s expression did not change.
“Because today is a rainy day.”
