The Academy’s Undercover Professor – 211

◈ Episode 211 Ancient Language (2)
The next day.
Ludger called six volunteers into the lab.
“Starting today you will undergo clinical research for one week.”
The students who sat down listened to Ludger’s words with half-anticipated half-nervous eyes.
“Before you go in you will have taken a magical power test in advance. And the results are listed here on the examination sheet.”
Through the horsepower check it was clearly recorded how much horsepower there was and how much the maximum discharge was.
“Based on this record you will measure and record in detail how much your magical power has increased over the course of a week. And the president who created this position will help.”
“Hello guys.”
President Elisa Willow waves her hand and speaks softly.
The students gathered asked ‘Why on earth is the president here?’ He stared at her with that gaze.
The main reason the six students were nervous was because of her presence on the scene.
“The president said he wanted to observe it in person. “This research can be carried out thanks to the president so I hope everyone welcomes it with joy.”
The students clapped their hands with shocked expressions.
However the president was not the only person present as an observer.
“Ohh. “I can’t believe I got to see this kind of research firsthand!”
Rushek from New Magic Tower who gave Ludger a business card on the day of the Magic Festival.
And one wizard from the Old Magic Tower and a wizard from the School Association.
There were a total of four observers including the president.
Rushek looks expectantly.
On the contrary the wizards belonging to the Old Magic Tower and the Society still had a look of suspicion on their faces.
They said they were conducting clinical research so they observed it but their honest feelings were that they wondered if it would really be as easy as it sounds.
“Before we begin the research let me explain exactly how it will proceed. “The method I will use in this research will begin by suppressing the existing magic power.”
“Does suppressing it mean taking the special medicine you mentioned back then?”
Aidan asks raising his hand.
Ludger standing in front of the magic board in the lab nodded.

“That’s right. Of course some people will wonder how emissions can increase. So look carefully here.”
Ludger floated the materials he had prepared on the magic board.
Sculptures of paintings that are winding but somewhat regular.
It was a language the students had never seen before.
“That’s….”
“An ancient language that is more than a thousand years old. “It’s Larsil language.”
Even with that explanation Larsil was an unfamiliar word to the students.
Rather it was the observers who reacted.
“Larsiler. “Is it possible that the method is written there?”
“No rather Larsil must be a script that has not been interpreted yet.”
While everyone was puzzled Ludger calmly continued his explanation.
“If you think about it this is probably closer to an ancient language class. I’m not trying to teach you how to interpret it so I’ll just quickly point out the main points. “Look here.”
Larsil’s language was engraved on the magic board in the lab.
“As you can see the shape is messy. Since the Larsil language has a fundamentally complex language system it was inevitable that its legacy would be lost. A language must at least be intuitive and simple to be easy to learn. Look at this example.”
Even simple greetings such as “Have you eaten?” have over 10 different meanings with even the smallest details different in meaning.
“The Larsil language has almost nothing in common with the more than 3000 languages that have ever existed. As a result it is difficult to infer the roots even from the language that exists today. “If there is any connection there are some similarities with the Queoden language.”
However Ludger continued his explanation.
“That alone cannot fully decipher the Larsil language. This is because they used a total of three types of letters at the same time. Of the three Queoden is part of the language that symbolizes ‘Lar-Sil.’”
The students opened their eyes wide.
And it was the same for the observers.
“That is why the name Larsil was given to a language that should not have been named originally. The Lar-sil part that was the only one that could be interpreted became the name. According to their words the remaining two language forms are ‘geu-ka’. The other is called ‘Sham-Ra.’”
Oooh.
Rushek of the New Magic Tower listening to the explanation was filled with admiration without realizing it.
“indeed. I can understand why the Larsil language was difficult to interpret. How could it be possible that three forms of language were used in parallel? “It looks similar but it was actually a completely different letter.”
I understood why no one could interpret it even after several wizards and archaeologists worked together.
It was only natural that the character I thought was one was actually three.
Since I couldn’t interpret even a third of the entire language there was no way I could get better.
“No Ludger Chelisi interpreted that?”
An observer at the old magic tower muttered in disbelief.
Ludger’s explanation continued.
“I have completed the interpretation of two different forms of the known Larsil language and through this I have learned about the times written in this manuscript.”
Existing letters were erased from the magic board and new letters began to be engraved.
「Geuka」
「Sham-Ra」
The remaining two types of characters that make up the Larsil language were classified in detail.
“This is a word that can be said to be the basic framework. The grammatical part is complicated to explain so I’ll skip it. “That’s not what’s important right now.”
The observers could not hide their disappointment at those words.

Only the president was watching the scene with relaxed eyes.
The contents written in the Larsil language manuscript appeared on the magic board.
“If we interpret the language by combining words like this we can see that this manuscript is the handwriting of a wizard. According to the memoir ancient wizards in the past used primitive crude magic with no established techniques unlike today.”
The power of ancient wizards is often described as a natural disaster.
It may have been a bit of an exaggeration but it was actually true that the magic of ancient wizards boasted superior power compared to modern magic.
Ludger’s teacher often said similar things.
-There is no magic to magic these days. In my time…
Ludger heard this phrase more than 100 times while living with Master.
“According to this journal the magic they used appears to be as powerful as it is simple. And it says that it was possible because there was a ‘great consciousness.’”
“The great consciousness is that….”
“That’s right. “It’s a way for ancient wizards to increase the amount of magical power released.”
And this is the reagent that Ludger will be feeding to students participating in clinical research today.
“Ancient wizards were few in number. At that time being a wizard was a special position that only selected people could hold. “Compared to now magic is not as universally developed.”
As a result the number of wizards is small compared to now but it is said that they did their best to foster one.
The great ritual was the most essential process in cultivating such a powerful wizard.
Line raised her hand and asked a question.
“Then why has that method been forgotten now?”
“There are many reasons but it seems to have naturally disappeared over time because it was a method that only a few people practiced.”
“Couldn’t the number of wizards be increased?”
“Wizards of this era had a very short lifespan. Although he was a great being he was often exposed to danger and died.”
“ah.”
Just looking at it now there were some wizards who got hurt or died because their experiments went wrong.
It would have been worse in the old days when magic was less stable.
“To sum it up a great ritual is training in the use of magical power while suppressing the magical power itself to the limit.”
If you look at the method it is clunky.
‘It’s just an idea that ancient people would have thought of.’
It was unclear whether it would be useful but perhaps that was why this place was created.
“Then the explanation ends here. Sedina assistant? “Please bring what I prepared.”
“yes.”
Sedina moved quickly and brought the bottle she had prepared in advance to each student.
“This is….”
The students made mysterious expressions as they looked at the bottle in front of them.
A special medicine made by Ludger.
To be exact it was a magic suppressant that ancient wizards drank in the past.
“The color… is unusual?”
If there’s a problem it’s with the visuals.
Because it looks like sticky purple porridge. Even bubbles were rising.
Everyone including the observers thought the same thing.
‘Isn’t this poison?’
I looked at Ludger with such questioning eyes but Ludger was resolute.
“Drink.”
“yes?”
“Drink.”
“yes?”
“Drink it.”
Drink this? The moment I drink it I think I’ll get addicted and die.
“Eight!”
The moment everyone avoids.
Surprisingly it was Liné who showed courage first.
Liné took a sip of the purple liquid and opened her eyes wide.
“town?!”
“Li Rine! are you okay?”
“…It tastes surprisingly good right?”
“Oh really?”
“yes. It’s really okay. Feels like a slightly sweet juice? “Senior please try it too.”
Line said that and took a gulp of the reagent to prove that it was not a lie.
Judging from the fact that there was no change in his expression it seemed that the food tasted really good despite its appearance.
Then shall we drink it?
Those who hesitated at those words began taking the reagent one by one.
And a variety of reactions erupted.
“Big! write!”
“…hmm.”
“Be sweet.”
Some said it was okay while others frowned at the terrible bitter taste.
In particular the ones who suffered the most were the Third Princess Erendir and Freuden Ulburg.
“ah. I forgot to explain. There will be differences in taste for each person. “Still it doesn’t really have any effect on your body so just tolerate it and drink it.”
‘This human…’
Freuden glared at Ludger with a sharp gaze.
That was definitely done on purpose.
It’s clear that he deliberately made it taste bad by singling out only the students he didn’t like.
Ludger lightly ignored Freuden’s gaze.
‘Not a glare.’
Of course the taste of the reagent is slightly(?) different depending on the student. They added a lot of sweetness to make it less bitter only for obedient students.
Anyway the effect itself is the same.
It’s no use trying to argue with that.
‘But what about that guy Aidan…’
Aidan was a model student but honestly he was also the most unpredictable.
I added a special bitter taste to make him calm down a little but surprisingly he drank the reagent without changing his complexion at all.
“Ohh. This is the taste of the ancient people’s reagent. “I feel like I’ve already become stronger.”
Everyone else who has tasted the bitter taste is on the verge of death but he is the only one who mutters such words with a sane look on his face.
“…I drank it all. A response will come soon.”
It was just as Ludger said.
The students who drank the reagent had no reaction at first but felt something strange after 5 minutes.
“Ugh! “My body is heavy.”
“what. “What is this feeling?”
Should I say that it feels like I am submerged beneath the sea level with my whole body bound by invisible chains?
There was definitely no discomfort in moving my body but the feeling of stuffiness and discomfort did not go away.
“It looks like everyone has responded.”
“teacher. “Is this…?”
“As I said before it is the effect of a magic suppressant. “The mana that you normally handle naturally has hardened and is not moving properly.”
“Something is difficult.”
“Of course. They say you are going through a learning process but you are clearly wizards. “Mana which was always with me does not move as I want and now I am no different from a normal person.”
For a wizard not having mana move as intended would be like having a part of his soul ripped away.
Of course it is bound to be an unfamiliar and strange sensation.
“Try to move your magic in that state.”
Following Ludger’s instructions the students concentrated their minds to use their magic power.
The magic that should normally flow out as naturally as breathing did not move as if it was blocked by something.
It’s as if a huge dam was built on a flowing river and the floodgates were opened just a little.
It was difficult to extract even 1% of the magic power that I normally used.
Only 10 minutes had passed and still no student had successfully released their magic power.
Sweat began to drip down the students’ foreheads.
“stop. Until there.”
As soon as Ludger’s words fell the students lost their concentration and let out the breath they had been holding.
Huh. Huh.
Ludger’s heavy voice rang low in the laboratory where only the sound of heavy breathing lingered.
“It will be difficult for everyone as it is their first time. “It’s mentally upsetting to see that the mana that I normally deal with naturally isn’t moving.”
“Are we going to keep doing this for a week?”
To Aidan’s question Ludger answered yes.
“Today is your first day so for now just focus on getting used to that feeling of your body being heavy. “The full release will begin the next day.”
“How long does the effect last?”
“Exactly one day.”
Erendir groaned at those words.
Even when I just breathe the foreign feeling bothers me. Is this going to continue all day?
I was already thinking about giving up.
Honestly I would be lying if I said I didn’t find this clinical study funny.
“It will only take a day to get used to that feeling. If you have a certain level of talent it could be half a day maybe even shorter. In that state you must know how to use magical power. “Because the process itself is part of an experiment.”
Ludger looked at his watch.
When I explained ancient languages before the actual experiment two hours had already passed.
This makes me feel like I’ve had another class.
“With this we are disbanded today. “It’s the first day so there’s nothing to record.”
“If you do this… it will really be effective right?”
Julia asked wiping the sweat from her forehead with a handkerchief.
I still had doubts about whether it was really possible to increase the amount of magical power released using such a primitive method.
“possible.”
But the answer that came back was resolute to the point of absurdity.
“I’ll show you the proof.”
Ludger said that and released his magic power.
Towoong—!
A huge resonant sound rang out around him and a bluish fog began to flow out.
A magic fog that appears when a high density of magic power gathers.
It was a phenomenon that could only be seen when a high-ranking wizard used great magic.
“This is 50 percent of my total horsepower. “It’s exactly half.”
That alone filled the lab with a bluish aura.
The students held their breath and the observers also opened their eyes wide at the sight.
“It took less than two seconds to release this amount. “This figure far exceeds the average emission of a wizard.”
Ludger’s voice heard within had a mysterious resonance as if it belonged to a person walking among the clouds in the sky.
Shoot!
Eventually the blue fog followed Ludger’s will and was sucked back into his body.
“If you guys follow my instructions for the rest of the week.”
Ludger who appeared from the fog looked at the students and said.
“You too can be like this.”
There was no answer.
The incredible appearance that Ludger showed a little while ago.
Because I was so overwhelmed by the sight that my mouth froze.
