The Academy’s Undercover Professor – 187

◈ Episode 187: The King of the Dark Street (2)
Ludger was asleep but his senses were much sharper than usual.
Should I say it is a reward for borrowing the power of the goddess and a bit of grace?
Contact with God also had some effect on Ludger.
It seems.
The big and small energies that people possess.
Presence.
Or the size of the soul.
Or the strength of power.
It was like a pure white flame burning in the darkness.
Although his body was asleep his mind was seeing the spark of his soul.
The flame of an ordinary person is like a small candle.
In the case of a person who is superior to him and is called a genius in the world he is the size of a torch.
And the one who goes beyond being an ordinary person and is called a genius.
It is like a bonfire that is much bigger than all other flames.
And from afar a pure white bonfire was approaching the slum.
After that he was accompanied by four torches.
The moment I confirmed it.
Ludger opened his eyes.
* * *
At first the members did not immediately understand when Ludger said that a guest was coming.
“What should I do?” A guest will arrive soon. “Be prepared to greet it.”
However when Ludger urged him on only then did he start moving.
Ludger immediately went into disguise.
Hans who still did not understand the situation soon widened his eyes at the information that a rat approached him and gave him.
“older brother. “How did you know the Knights of Nightcrawler were coming?”

“I just knew.”
It might sound like an excuse but it was sincere.
I closed my eyes and fell into a deep sleep but I vaguely felt something like that and opened my eyes.
“Then wouldn’t it be better to hide? “I think it’s dangerous to do something that might get you caught.”
“It wouldn’t matter if you met me with the title of owner instead of me but you would be caught out quickly.”
“…but. I guess so if the opponent is the Nightcrawler Knights. “You will quickly see through this foolish trick.”
“So I’m going to step forward myself. Tell it to others too. “Don’t stop them and treat them with respect.”
“I understand.”
Ludger immediately took his coat and put it on.
* * *
“This is a slum?”
One of the Nightcrawler knights looked at the surrounding scenery and muttered in disbelief.
Other drivers including Terry and Ryan Howl felt the same way.
“It’s completely different from when I saw it that day. “I would even believe it was in a different place.”
There was filth everywhere and the places where vagabonds used to squat helplessly and beg were everywhere.
Well-paved roads and neat newly built buildings.
From the smell of delicious food wafting from everywhere to the sight of children playing happily.
In fact it was much more luxurious than the general commercial district.
There is no disagreement even if you call it a busy area.
Enya who regularly checked this process opened her mouth.
“As you can see the slums are changing rapidly. “It’s still happening in real time.”
“All of this is the result of the person who is the owner.”
“yes. that’s right.”
At this point I wanted to meet the owner even more.
I had a personal interest in simply going to meet the suspect.
I knew he was an unusual person but I needed to know what kind of thoughts he had and what his tendencies were.
It was kind of a hunch.
There is nothing more dangerous to the country than a person with great ability being a villain.
The Knights of Nightcrawler exist to stop it.
As she was walking down the street someone was blocking Terina’s path from the front.
The knights including Terina stopped.
“It is an honor to meet the Imperial Nightcrawler Knights. “My name is Violetta and I am your guide.”
Violetta dressed in neat attire to welcome guests greeted them politely.
Terina looked at Violetta with interest as she responded that she already knew this was coming.
“You know us.”
“The owner told me to treat you all with the utmost respect.”
Owner.

When that name came up the knights exchanged looks.
Enya carefully whispered to Terina.
“Captain. Could it be a trap? “I think they knew we were coming.”
“no.”
Terina answered firmly.
If this had been a trap in the first place they wouldn’t have been round about inviting it like that.
Rather this was more of a challenge.
The Empire’s infamous Nightcrawler Knights? So what?
The owner proudly declared that he had nothing to worry about and that if he was going to come he should come.
“good night. “Let me follow you.”
With Terina’s permission Violetta took the lead followed by the Knights of Nightcrawler.
The knights were suspicious at first but when the leader Terina showed some composure they soon relaxed their guard and obeyed meekly.
Of course since we never knew when an incident might suddenly occur we maintained a sense of tension.
‘More than that this is a slum.’
Terina couldn’t help but be amazed as she looked at the newly transformed street.
It’s actually an abandoned part of the city so it’s a place where it wouldn’t be strange if something happened.
There was a noticeable change in just a few months.
‘I can’t believe this is possible.’
Finally Terina couldn’t hold back and opened her mouth.
“The person who is the owner. “He seems like a very resourceful man.”
“yes. “That’s right.”
Violetta smiled softly and answered.
“The reason we were able to change like this is all thanks to the owner’s grace. If it weren’t for him we would still have to live abandoned. “In the city and in the country.”
There was a bone in Violetta’s words.
She said indirectly ‘You abandoned us but he did not abandon us but brought us this far.’
In some ways it was almost an insult to the nation but Terina was not angry like the tightly packed bureaucrats and nobles.
When you do things like this such provocations just seem cute.
Even so Terina did not intend to just accept the provocation so she accepted it lightly.
“That’s fascinating. “We are here to catch someone who is a danger to the country.”
At that moment Violetta who was leading the way stopped.
She slowly looked back.
“No problem. There must be a reason for the Nightcrawler Knights to come to this outskirts. “I just want you to know this.”
Violetta was still smiling but her eyes shone darkly.
“The moment you try to touch the owner we will all sacrifice our lives to fight back.”
It was not just a verbal warning.
silence.
Silence fell on the street that had been noisy just a moment ago.
“It’s all Captain.”
“hmm.”
A woman was drying blankets outside the store owner’s window as she was preparing to open and children were playing with toys.
Everyone around was staring in this direction.
With a gaze that was more than insipid and filled with hostility.
What can be felt in their gaze is determination.
If something happened to the owner he was determined to fight even if it meant death.
‘It feels like I’m in the maw of a huge beast.’
Terina decided to take a step back for now.
“Let me listen carefully.”
If it had been an ordinary knight with strong pride he would have been furious and pulled out his sword but Terina was different.
On the contrary they even had the slightest respect for those who had revived the abandoned area to this point with their own efforts.
“I’m glad you understand. “I will guide you again.”
Violetta moved her stopped steps.
People who were watching this also returned to their daily lives.
As if nothing had happened a moment ago.
The Nightcrawler members felt a little goosebumps at that subtle sense of discrepancy.
“Here it is.”
The place they arrived was an ordinary three-story mansion that was not much different from other houses.
Could it be that the owner of this back world is staying in a place like this?
Unlike the doubtful knights Terina followed Violetta inside without hesitation.
Violetta knocked on the door of the reception room on the first floor to welcome guests.
“Owner. “We have brought guests.”
“Come in.”
When permission was given to come inside Violetta opened the door and went inside.
Terina headed inside and immediately looked at the structure of the room.
‘There is no place for someone to hide and launch a surprise attack and there is no secret space in sight. Is it literally a place to welcome guests?’
Her gaze finally turned to the owner waiting for them in the center of the room.
‘It’s him.’
The person called the owner was sitting on the sofa.
It doesn’t look expensive but it’s still a cheap suit.
Even the large hat on his head.
The biggest difference would be the pure white mask worn on the face.
“It is a pleasure to meet the noble Knights of Nightcrawler. “I am a person who is undeservedly called the owner.”
“This is Terryna Ryan Howl.”
“this. You were a nobleman. “Please sit down.”
“Sure.”
Terina did not refuse.
She immediately sat down opposite the owner.
The action was unstoppable and even confident.
Four knights including Enya lined up behind Terina.
“Violetta.”
“Yes owner.”
“Thank you for your hard work in bringing the guests. “You should just leave now.”
“yes. All right.”
As Violetta left closing the door silence fell in the reception room.
The first to speak was Terina.
“Are you sure you don’t have to be with your subordinates?”
“Our people are very busy. Slums have changed a lot compared to before but there are still many things that need to be fixed. “I can’t afford to waste my time doing this.”
This is what happens.
It’s fun from the start.
‘Is it true that unlike other middle-class people they don’t come in with a bow?’
And against the Knights of Nightcrawler known as the Nightmare of the Empire?
Isn’t he truly a man with great ambitions?
Even the speaking style of speaking politely and subtly.
This man is unusual. If you let your guard down this side will get swayed.
Terina immediately raised her evaluation of the man called the owner to a higher level.
“order. “You guys should go out too.”
“yes? Ha but leader…”
“It’s an order. “I’m resting nearby.”
Since Terina spoke so firmly the members could not refuse.
Eventually the members left the room but Enya remained steadfast.
“Enya.”
“Captain. “I’m sorry but since I am the leader’s assistant I cannot escape from this.”
“I see. I understand. “I’m sure at least one person would be willing to allow that right?”
The owner nodded in response to Terina’s playful question.
“It doesn’t matter. “Because I don’t care.”
“I see. Rather I would like to ask you one more question. Are you still wearing that mask?”
Terina’s gaze shone sharply.
As if trying to recognize the face hidden behind the mask.
“Or is there a reason why you have to hide your face? For example a status that should not be detected.”
“You must have felt uncomfortable seeing me wearing a mask.”
“That’s not the attitude to treat customers.”
“Well this is actually a mask to be considerate of you all.”
As the owner said that only the bottom of the mask was lifted slightly.
Inside there were ugly burn marks.
They immediately covered their masks but Enya and Terina who had sharp eyes did not know.
“I hope you understand that I have to wear a mask like this because of the severe burns.”
Of course the burned skin that Ludger showed was a fake made by Sheridan.
However it was so sophisticated that you wouldn’t know it was fake unless you touched it directly.
Terina felt a little displeased but did not pursue it further.
“Let me ask you one thing first. What on earth is your name? “He’s too capable for someone who suddenly appeared here one day.”
“Do you mean my name?”
“Because I can’t just call you owner forever.”
“okay.”
Owner Ani Ludger naturally recited the name he had prepared in advance.
“I am a man named Oliver who was born here in the past.”
“What can prove your identity?”
“Unfortunately there is none. “There’s no way something like that would exist for someone born in a slum.”
“Are you from here?”
“My mother died right after I was born and I spent my childhood in a workhouse. Then as I got older I went abroad to make money and when my business became somewhat successful I returned to my hometown. It’s been a twisted life but now I’m making a good living. “Has your curiosity been satisfied?”
“Not yet.”
At those words Terina opened her eyes sharply.
“Let’s get to the point first.”
“Of course.”
“The Silver Sun disappeared last night.”
Terina said that and looked at Ludger’s reaction.
‘As expected you came here because of something related to Silver Sun.’
Ludger who guessed the reason answered naturally.
“yes. We also heard the news that the Silver Sun disappeared. But are you saying that’s why you came to me? “Because you’re the prime suspect in Silver Sun’s disappearance?”
“I heard Silver Sun has been playing tricks on your slums recently.”
“yes. Because of that several people were injured and there was quite a bit of damage.”
Since the other side knows it too there is no need to hide it.
“You sure don’t think we did something like that right? People from the slums like us?”
“I have a heart attack.”
“It’s just heartache. “You probably don’t know how many grudges Silver Sun has in the first place.”
In fact Terina found the right culprit.
However Ludger was confident that he would not be found out. Because that was the power he used that night.
Terina also knew that there was nothing she could gain by asking anything more than this.
‘But I feel strangely concerned about it.’
The man in front of me is the owner.
I kept having an unfounded belief that there was something about the author.
Ludger realized that Terina was doubting him when she saw her like that.
‘She’s still a woman with sharp senses.’
If you think about it it was like that back then too.
Even when this group robbed a nobleman’s house to raise funds Terina followed him without any clues or anything.
He is truly a troublesome person with the senses of an animal.
‘And that probably means that what I did in this area was unusual.’
Since a dying street has been completely transformed into something new it is natural to be suspicious.
So he must have been thinking of accusing me of some kind of trick.
But Terina didn’t do that.
To be precise it would be correct to say that it cannot be done.
“Aren’t the Silver Sun bad guys anyway? “I wish they would disappear but I don’t understand why the Knights of Nightcrawler came all this way and persecuted me.”
When Ludger poked the painful spot Terina wrinkled her nose.
The Knights of Nightcrawler are called a nightmare to criminals but underlying all their actions is the belief in enforcing justice.
The silver line is the evil one.
Those who persecute people extort money from them and bribe their superiors.
If we have to be honest they are like loaches that turn a puddle into muddy water.
Ludger asked this:
─Why do those who enforce justice protect the wicked?
It touched Terry and Ryan Howl’s pride.
“That is certainly true. “I can’t deny that.”
Surprisingly Terina clearly accepted Ludger’s point.
“But it’s good to know. “If we had really suspected him there would have been blood on the sword already.”
As soon as those words were said the inside of the living room filled with soggy flesh.
Terryna Ryan Howl is the Knight Commander of Nightcrawler.
She was one of the few master-level knights in the empire.
Her way of life was enough to make even a common knight have a nervous breakdown or faint with foam at the mouth the moment he encountered her.
This was a kind of takedown.
We will be considerate of that side but it was also a warning not to cross the line any further.
‘He may be a suspicious man but at least he’s from the underworld.’
There may be a need to properly indicate who is in charge.
however.
“Thank you for your consideration.”
Doesn’t the man called the owner naturally nod his head even after being told that to kill him?
Terina’s eyes wavered slightly at that action.
The same was true for Enya who was watching the situation from behind.
‘You… endured my life?’
