◈ Episode 178: The Wolf and the Crow (1)

    Casey Selmore and Elisa Willow.

The two people were staring at each other in silence.

A strange tension hovered between the two.

At first glance it is a calm and peaceful scene.

However the two people were busy evaluating the other person in their minds.

‘Casey Selmore. A genius detective. And a single-attribute user and wizard who received the title of color from the Magic Tower. That person witnessed the fire scene that day and has yet to say anything. What on earth are you planning? Could it be that he is a member of the old magic tower?’

Just as Elisha was wary of Casey Casey was also wary of Elisha.

‘Elisa Willow. The youngest president of Seorn and a 6th rank wizard. Every action is calculated. It doesn’t read at all. Moreover the strange glow that comes from his unique golden eyes. I don’t know exactly what kind of power it is but I can’t let down my guard.’

Casey was able to guess the other person’s occupation and characteristics just based on their minor habits.

However nothing could be read from President Elisha.

She was truly an ironclad woman.

‘I guess I called you to talk about the fire incident that happened yesterday.’

Casey decided to stop fighting to outwit the other person.

He is a person that there is no need to be hostile to anyway.

Looking around the fire scene the day before he seemed like a person with a sense of responsibility.

“Should we stop measuring each other and just talk about what happened yesterday?”

When Casey came out honestly Elisa also nodded with a strange look in her eyes.

“oh. I like it. “That’s why I called you.”

The two people who signed the peace agreement sat facing each other.

“I heard Mr. Selmore witnessed the incident that happened yesterday. “Can you tell me more?”

“Casey is enough. “I don’t really like selling the family name.”

    “ah. sorry.”

“are you okay. Anyway to continue the story I should first explain how I came across the scene.”

Casey described meeting Ludger and giving him his business card.

And even that Ludger used the business card where he captured the Black Dawn in the middle of the night.

“I never thought that the business card I personally handed over would be used in a place like that.”

Casey said it as if it was absurd even thinking about it now.

On the contrary Elisa who was listening with interest thought that Mr. Ludger was worthy of it.

“Detective Casey did you witness the criminal in person?”

“Unfortunately I couldn’t do that. When I arrived at the warehouse the fire in the warehouse was already threatening to spread to the surrounding area. “I was busy trying to stop it.”

    “is it so?”

“But it’s clear that something out of the ordinary happened inside.”

Even though she was suppressing the fire at a little distance from the warehouse.

I couldn’t ignore the intense waves that erupted from within.

    I still remember.

The sensation of magical power that made my skin tingle.

“That guy named Ludger Chelisi. “What on earth is it?”

    Casey asked impatiently.

The magic felt inside the warehouse was clearly a magic that went beyond the 5th rank and was close to the 6th rank.

Even though he is Seorn’s teacher he uses such great magic?

‘Could it be that the president in front of me was in disguise? no. There’s no way I wouldn’t recognize it. And the magic of water that unfolded after that….’

In the end Casey could only come up with one guess.

A man named Ludger Chelisi is Seorn’s secret weapon brought in by the rector.

On the other hand President Elisa did not understand the purpose of the question even if only for a moment.

‘What is Teacher Ludger’s identity? Well he’s not usually an unusual person but is it worth being so wary of? And that dark-colored wizard?’

Elisa who had not seen Ludger’s magic could not help but wonder why Casey was asking that question.

‘Are you sure you’re trying to leave here?’

Here they may want to clearly state what kind of person Ludger is.

    That can’t be possible.

“He’s just one of Seorn’s great teachers.”

    “…I see.”

Casey narrowed his eyes at the ambiguous answer.

    ‘You’re prevaricating.’

Elisa was blatantly not trying to hand over Ludger’s information to them.

‘okay. I guess it means that I don’t intend to reveal that much information about the person easily.’

Does the President really know that Ludger is at least a level 5 wizard?

Maybe he planted his own people in Seorn on purpose.

She knows very well that within Seorn the noble faction and the commoner faction are divided and fighting.

‘It wouldn’t be surprising if a sword was smuggled in to gain the upper hand in internal factional politics.’

In that case there was a high possibility that Elisa knew that Ludger’s skills were greater than originally known.

In that case there would be no need to say here that Ludger used great magic of at least the 5th level.

If it was said to be the president’s sword it would be quite understandable.

“Anyway as you probably already heard and know the President there was a fight inside after Mr. Ludger entered the warehouse and he came out after rescuing the hostages. “That’s it.”

“I heard you checked the inside of the warehouse after the incident was over. Did you find anything there?”

    “Discovery? well….”

Elisa narrowed her eyes at Casey’s vague answer.

    ‘Are you hiding something?’

Contrary to Elisa’s suspicions Casey had nothing to hide.

Because there were no traces left inside the warehouse.

Since it was not an ordinary flame even the corpse burned and disappeared.

The only recognizable traces are the scars caused by the clash of terrifying magic.

Even if he was Casey he couldn’t find any clues in the burned-out warehouse.

‘The only thing that bothers me is the rat’s footprints on the floor.’

Burnt-out ashes spread on the ground.

Traces of rats stamped on it.

Due to time constraints it did not appear to have been taken before the fire spread.

‘But there’s no way there wouldn’t be rats in a warehouse like that.’

More than anything else Casey hated rats so he didn’t think much more about it.

“There wasn’t any. It was all burned without a trace. “I couldn’t even see the body.”

“Hmm. okay. In the end the only thing we can rely on is Professor Ludger’s testimony.”

“Well I guess so. But I don’t think what he said was wrong. That’s right in the first place right? “I fought until I got hurt.”

They probably hoped that the festival would end safely.

    Elisa also nodded.

“Mr. Ludger is a person who can do that well.”

There was silence between the two for a moment.

    The superficial conversation ends here.

The real purpose was from now on.

    Elisha spoke first.

“So he said there was something he wanted from me.”

When she first called Casey into the president’s office Casey had one request for Elisa.

“You want to personally interrogate the captured remnants of the Black Dawn?”

    “yes.”

“If it’s not rude may I ask the reason?”

Elisa’s eyes which had been smiling the whole time turned sharp.

Casey answered confidently without avoiding that gaze.

“There is someone I definitely want to catch.”

    * * *

    what?

As I was analyzing the ring I suddenly felt chills.

‘I guess it’s because I don’t have enough magic power.’

I thought I would be fine now that I had almost recovered but maybe it was the aftereffects of overusing my strength while fighting Quasimodo.

    ‘By the way this ring…’

I didn’t think it was anything out of the ordinary when Zero Order gave it to me but when I checked it was more than that.

‘There is a magic engraving on the inside of the ring.’

There was an engraving along the inside of the ring that was difficult for even a decent meister to carve.

The skill of the craftsman is not only great but the magic engraving is also formidable.

‘The moment you put this on and let your magic flow it will start working naturally. The effect is to make the user fall asleep.’

It’s different from the way it allows you to sleep normally.

Rather it is closer to making it look like you are falling asleep and moving your consciousness to another place.

‘Division of consciousness. And the following coordinates of certain inability.’

I immediately realized what this ring was for.

‘The ring is the key. And the place you can enter through that key is… a dream.’

The magic engraved on the ring was dream magic.

    [Dream Walk]

It is a magic that allows you to enter the other person’s dream or make them dream.

Naturally it is a <Special> type of magic rather than a traditional type of magic and is closer to the mental side than the physical type.

If you really want to tie it to existing magic it would be curse and magic.

However among the <Special> series of magic which are mostly difficult to learn and mostly passed down to one person dream magic was surprisingly easy to learn.

Although it was small there was a separate school.

‘Even so the number of people learning will be limited. Could it be that one of the Dreamwalkers belongs to the Black Dawn?’

The <Dream School> which knows how to use dream magic is a famous place where eccentrics gather.

I also have an acquaintance there so I know this.

‘Magic itself is not dangerous. In other words is it leading users into a dream world and making them gather together?’

An executive meeting through sharing dreams.

    It’s quite good.

If you do this you won’t be caught by others or tracked down.

But it was not without risk.

‘Dream magic travels around the unconscious so if you make a mistake you can fall into the deep world of unconsciousness.’

This world of unconsciousness is called <Dreamland>.

When you hear the name it may sound like a place full of hope like an amusement park but in reality it is quite the opposite.

Dreamland is an abyss of the mind created by countless layers of human dreams unconsciousness and deep consciousness.

It wouldn’t matter if you only wandered around in the surface consciousness.

I can’t handle what lies much deeper than that.

One scholar argued that there is another world in the depths of Dreamland an unknown world where something spiritual exists just like the spirit world. But nothing has actually been revealed yet.

‘At least if we meet in the surface world it won’t be a big problem.’

Zero Order said it would hold an executive meeting soon.

    When exactly is that?

Since you didn’t specify a time it looks like they’re trying to contact you separately.

    ‘It’s an executive meeting.’

There are a total of 7 members of the First Order in the Black Dawn.

One of them Esmeralda or Quasimodo has disappeared so there are only six people left.

‘Not even six people. Excluding the real John Doe who died there would be five.’

But we couldn’t let down our guard just because there were only 5 people left.

‘In other words there are five more powerful people as strong as Quasimodo.’

And even Zero Order which can be said to be their pinnacle.

You might think Quasimodo is a bit of an unusual case but that would be too wishful thinking.

‘Of the five remaining members of the First Order the only one who knows is Victor Dreadful.’

He commonly known as the Doctor was closely related to the Shamsus School during the last werewolf incident.

He would be a mad scientist if he had special skills related to research and was capable of modifying humans to turn them into werewolves.

Excluding him there are a total of four remaining members of the First Order.

It was necessary to know the personal information of those four.

While I was setting that as my primary goal the door to the hospital room became noisy again.

As soon as the students were chased away new people came again?

It was a time when I just closed the blinds and looked at the scenery outside the window because it was a hassle to chase them out.

    Charalak!

The blinds were suddenly opened along with the sound of footsteps approaching this way.

I thought you were a student visiting Teacher Selina but maybe you had some business to do with me.

    “What?”

When I turned around to see who it was I saw a familiar figure.

    Flora Lumos.

And even her best friend Cheryl Wagner.

Flora asked me looking somewhat nervous.

    “I heard you were hurt.”

    “As you can see.”

I showed my right arm which was moderately bandaged.

    “Does it hurt a lot?”

“It’s not that bad of a wound. “It’s all healed and I just need to rest to stabilize myself.”

    “….”

So when I was about to ask why I came something suddenly appeared in front of my eyes.

    It was a fruit basket.

When I looked at Flora asking what this was she blushed and avoided my gaze.

“I didn’t bring it because I was particularly worried about the teacher. “It would be embarrassing if I came empty-handed so Cheryl kept asking me to buy at least this…”

Cheryl looked over Flora’s shoulder with one eye narrowed.

“What are you doing? You’re not going to take it? “My arm hurts.”

    “…I receive it well.”

I took the fruit basket Flora brought and set it aside.

Even if he pretended not to it was clear that he came to visit the hospital because he was worried about him.

I thought no one would come to visit me in the hospital other than Selina.

‘Still wasn’t my time as a teacher wasted?’

As I was thinking that the door to the hospital room opened again and new people came in.

“Mr Ludger! Are you feeling okay?!”

“…Aidan. It’s noisy. “Remain quiet in the hospital room.”

Aidan and Leo as well as Taycee Friard and Iona O’Valley.

I never thought these guys would come.

The appearance of the four made the hospital room noisy again. Of course it was Aidan who mainly asked me where I was in pain and if I was feeling okay.

Still everyone will have come now.

    Was that a complacent idea?

    “Is Mr. Ludger there?”

The door to the hospital room was carefully opened and a new visitor arrived.

The first person I recognized was Teacher Selina.

    “oh. “Isn’t it Rine?”

Liné who hesitantly entered the hospital room was holding a small basket in her arms.

It wasn’t just Rine who came in.

The person who came with us was the Third Princess Erendir.

Line’s eyes widened as she looked at the students in the hospital room.

The students in the hospital room also opened their eyes wide when they saw Erendir along with Rine.

And even the people behind it.

    “Huh? “That person…”

There was one more person behind Line and Erendir.

“Freuden Ulburg? Why is he here…”

Leo’s expression became cold as he recognized Freuden.

In fact Freuden was staring at me intently as if he didn’t seem to mind that gaze.

    I also faced him.

Although I wonder why a guy with no contact with me came to a place like this.

He was openly glaring at me.

Has the verification finally been completed?

    Freuden opened his mouth.

    “It’s been a while.”

Everyone in the room opened their eyes wide at that greeting.

Only I continued to stare at Freuden with an expressionless face.

    ‘This guy…’
