The Academy’s Undercover Professor – 142

◈ Episode 142 Festival Preparation (1)
Memory exists in mana.
This is a topic that has recently come to the fore and was enough to revive the interest of magicians and scholars about the unknown power of mana.
A dreamlike phenomenon in which memories collide and one feels as if one has personally experienced another person’s past.
It was called memory storming.
Wizards studied the memory storming phenomenon and wondered how they could utilize it.
In the end I ended up completing one item and it was the talisman that Marie Ross showed me.
“Teacher Marie. “Don’t you think it’s dangerous?”
Being able to read memories sounds interesting at first glance but the side effects behind it also seemed formidable.
“In fact it is said that memory storming can be toxic if severe. “Memories may become excessively confused causing cracks in the ego.”
It was not that there were no victims involved.
Although there are very few cases there were cases where memory storming caused confusion by thinking that the person was a magician who had transmitted magical power.
These mental side effects were a chronic problem that were difficult to treat even with sacred magic.
“But that was an accident that occurred while trying to transfer horsepower in a hurry without following safety rules. And even in those cases the side effects are extremely minor occurring about 1 in 100.”
“But it doesn’t exist right?”
“That’s right. However this Talisman which was released as a prototype this time is a product that you do not have to worry about such side effects. “It’s a consumable artifact so it’s less powerful but its stability is that much higher.”
Even students who were a little skeptical about the high stability showed curiosity.
If Teacher Marie had said so directly it was safe to assume that there was no danger.
All of the students raised their hands saying they wanted to use Talisman.
On the contrary Teacher Marie who spoke up was embarrassed by such an active reaction.
“oh. There are so many students who want to do it. “First of all just in case I brought it according to the number.”
The number of students attending Marie Ross’s lectures is quite large with the maximum number of students attending the lecture being 80.
The fact that it was a common subject for 1st and 2nd graders making it difficult to reserve a single seat also played a role.
Marie Ross herself was aware of this so she brought a generous 40 talisman.
“There is just one thing to be careful about. Only two people can use this. Simply infusing one’s own magic does not cause the memory storming phenomenon. There must be a counterpart. “The most important thing to be careful of is that it may show you the past that you don’t want to show to others.”
At those words the students looked at each other.

I really wanted to give it a try but what bothered me was that it was a two-person team.
You never know if someone else might know your secret.
There may be a small chance that something like that will happen in countless memories but it doesn’t mean it won’t happen completely.
“hey. “What do you want to do?”
“Shall we try? “I’m curious though.”
“Ugh. Who can see my memories? “It’s a bit weird.”
“What do you think? “It’s no big deal.”
People who care about privacy are very reluctant to use Talisman.
Even if you use it with a close friend there are always secrets you don’t want discovered.
Especially in the case of opposite sex.
“Anyone who wants to receive it and use it?”
When teacher Marie Ross asked for confirmation the number of students raising their hands had significantly decreased compared to a moment ago.
Still there were many students who showed interest enough to fill more than half of the students in the classroom.
“Rine. “Let’s give it a try.”
“yes? Are you okay?”
Liné asked puzzled by Erendir’s suggestion.
I never thought that she the princess would make such a suggestion first.
“Honestly don’t you want to try?”
Erendir spoke as if coaxing Ryne. Honestly I wanted to try Erendir.
This is because the part about sharing memories between friends was something that stimulated romance for Erendir.
‘I can’t believe I can share memories with friends!’
Erendir who had never made friends was quite obsessed with these things.
Like great memories with friends or unforgettable memories.
In fact isn’t this a phrase that appears often in novels?
Of course sharing memories through memory storming is very different from sharing real memories but Erendir who had no friends decided that it was the same.
“If you look at me you won’t find anything special. Would you rather be okay senior?”
Line was worried about Erendir.
Although she is a commoner of no particular significance she is the princess of an empire.
Sitting next to each other and having a conversation like this now was a difference in status that would not have been allowed if it weren’t for Seorn.
I have no objection to showing the past here but wouldn’t it be a pretty serious crime for a commoner to peek into the princess’s memories?
Line thinks she doesn’t know much about the world but she was able to convince herself that this definitely wasn’t the case.
“What do you think?” I don’t really care either. “I don’t have much to show anyway.”
Erendir didn’t think it was a big deal.
If she hadn’t found out about her relationship with her sister she would have hesitated but since the man like Freud had already revealed everything to Line there was nothing left to hide.
This was actually the third princess who was pushed out in the fight for position so she did not know as much important information as others thought.
“Uh um.”
After Erendir herself said this Rine no longer tried to break her stubbornness. Actually I was also curious about this thing called memory storming.

“is it so. “Then let’s do it.”
“good!”
Erendir went straight to the pulpit and received a talisman from teacher Marie Ross.
Marie Ross looked quite surprised as if she had not known that the third princess Erendir would come forward but then smiled softly and nodded.
“ruler. Let’s do it.”
Some students were already using Talisman.
Suppressing his pounding heart Erendir held one end of the talisman in his hand and held it out to Rine.
Line grabbed the other end.
Using the Talisman was simple.
All the two parties need to do is hold one end and infuse magical energy into it.
Ssssss.
Both ends of the pure white talisman gradually turned different colors under the influence of magical power.
The side held by Rine was dark gray while the side held by Erendir was bright gold.
Gradually the spreading colors met at the center of the talisman and began to mix with the shapes drawn on it.
Rine and Erendir who had their eyes closed trembled at the same time.
A huge current hit my mind.
The current was very large and strong like a river overflowing after a heavy rain.
‘This…’
Liné quietly stared at the scene amid the huge torrent where it was difficult to see even an inch ahead.
It was an overwhelming sight to see for the first time but I instinctively realized what it was.
That huge torrent was the flow of time and people’s memories.
‘Is this the memory storming phenomenon?’
In the huge swirling current various scenes quickly passed by like a panorama.
The sight of us entering the classroom together a moment ago came to mind blinking like a blinking light bulb.
‘If we go back against this flow will we be able to see further into the past?’
Liné took steps as if going against the great current. I felt quite a bit of pressure but it wasn’t so much that I couldn’t bear it.
How long would it take to go against the flow?
‘Something seems to be getting harder.’
The more I went against the flow the stronger the pressure on my body became.
Even though it was protected by magic it was like this.
The moment she finally gave up on moving and released the magic a scene unfolded before Rine’s eyes.
‘senior?’
This is what Erendir now a second year student was like when he was a freshman who had just entered Seorn.
Her appearance wasn’t much different from now but the atmosphere itself seemed much fresher than when I first saw her at the beginning of the semester.
The scene was conveyed as vividly as if I had experienced it myself.
‘This is my senior’s memory.’
While I was amazed by the mysterious phenomenon called memory storming I suddenly became curious about what kind of school days Erendir had as a first year student.
Rine watched the scene with a slightly pounding heart.
Eventually without even realizing it I made a confused expression.

Flora was troubled as she looked at the talisman in her hand.
If you only put the other person’s magic on this paper you can read their memories by sharing this side’s magic?
It was quite an interesting story.
‘I’m just saying it’s a bit of a waste to use it now.’
Glancing.
Flora looked at Cheryl sitting next to her with an indifferent gaze.
Cheryl met that gaze and trembled like a frightened rabbit.
“That Flora. “You’re not going to use that are you?”
“why? no?”
“uh? Oh no. Rather than saying I don’t like it I should just say that I’m not mentally prepared.”
Cheryl’s reaction was unexpected. If she were a normal person she would have thought it was good and rushed to give it a try.
Although she was trying hard to pretend she wasn’t Cheryl was extremely reluctant to do memory storming right now.
Is there something in the past that he wants to hide from himself?
‘It can’t be. ‘How long have I known Cheryl?’
Flora glanced around the classroom.
There were students who did memory storming but there were also students who did not.
“If you don’t want to write something don’t.”
Flora carefully put the talisman she was holding in her hand into her pocket.
No one noticed her actions.
This was because memory storming had just ended in various parts of the classroom.
Students who peeked into each other’s memories either laughed as if they had seen something interesting or reacted indifferently as if nothing had happened.
“Hey! flirt! He said he only loved me! “Now I know why I didn’t want to use this!”
“Calm down! “Kek!”
Occasionally rare and interesting situations arose.
Teacher Marie Ross laughed embarrassingly as she watched the woman presumed to be a couple grasp the man’s collar and shake it.
It was the moment when a couple disappeared from Seorn Academy.
Line and Erendir also finished memory storming and opened their closed eyes.
“It’s fascinating. I can’t believe I can see the memories embedded in magical power like this. This is called memory storming. It feels like I’ve been watching something for a very long time but in reality not much time has passed. So how was Lee’s junior? “Nothing happened right?”
“Uh me?”
Liné was at a loss as she didn’t know how to answer Erendir’s question.
Erendir seemed to have decided that he couldn’t show any more shame than this but…
Rine pondered whether to say this or not and then cautiously opened her mouth.
“Uh… senior. “You know.”
“huh? why?”
“No matter how birthday it is I don’t think it’s a good idea to send out birthday invitations to students you’re not close with.”
“ah….”
Liné’s words reminded Erendir of the dark history of the past that he had forgotten.
It was a futile time when I was trying to make friends in Seorn with dreams and hopes.
Now every time she sleeps her past comes back to her intermittently and makes her kick the blanket.
Liné ended up seeing the past when she was a first year student.
The birthday party incident that I wanted to forget the most and had almost forgotten.
“That ugh that….”
“…I understand my senior.”
“Ugh!”
Erendir closed his eyes tightly.
It was even more heartbreaking to see Rine show her sincere sympathy towards him than to find out about his past.
“What kind of past have you seen about me? I’m really curious too. “Have you seen a year ago?”
Line asked a question to change the topic.
In fact even though she said this Liné was not very curious about her past. Because there was nothing special about it.
Her guess was that Erendir would have seen the past a year like she did.
The days when I would just stay in my room and study all day.
“I looked further into the past.”
However contrary to Linne’s thoughts what Erendir saw was completely unexpected.
“The distant past? Was this something you could see far away?”
“I don’t know how far it is. But what I saw was a little strange.”
“yes?”
“What I saw was your childhood. “A time when I looked at least 10 years younger than I do now.”
As Erendir said that thinking about it now he realized something was strange and placed his hand on his forehead.
“But something is strange. Usually things like this are viewed from the perspective of the person remembering right? “But I saw your childhood through someone else’s eyes.”
“Someone else? “Who are you?”
“I think it was your mother.”
The scenery Erendir saw was not from Linne’s point of view but from her mother’s point of view.
Erendir still vividly remembered holding Linne in his arms when she was a young child not yet ten years old.
“A cabin on an uninhabited meadow. You lived there alone with your mother? “I thought that Line was loved by her mother.”
“senior. “What do you mean by that?”
When Erendir heard those words he reacted with wonder.
“I grew up without parents?”

After finishing the second test I immediately returned to the teacher’s office and started cleaning up after the test.
The grading of the exam was done on the spot anyway so there was nothing to worry about.
‘Are we now starting to prepare for the festival in earnest?’
Speaking of festivals reminds me of my past life.
Actually I lived a life that had nothing to do with festivals. The only thing I remember is that it was a college festival and all it did was sing famous singers open a bar and drink alcohol.
Still since it is Seorn it would be a lot different if it were called a festival.
While I was thinking about that Sedina handed me a piece of paper saying that she had just received an official letter.
“What is this?”
“This is the schedule for this magic festival.”
“Didn’t you already receive the schedule?”
“It appears that there were some changes as it opened earlier this time. That’s why they said they were announcing the newly added schedule.”
Add a new schedule.
‘I guess there’s nothing particularly strange about it.’
Well my general opinion is that it is natural that the festival which would have been held at the end of the first semester was moved up earlier.
As I was reading the official document with such light thoughts I narrowed my eyes at the contents.
“There is a magic sparring between teachers as part of a magic festival event match?”
Moreover the person who proposed it was none other than Hugo Bourtegue.
