    ◈ Episode 140 2nd test (2)

Line’s remarks were enough to surprise other students.

“What did he say just now?”

“Surely you didn’t make a magic square? That’s why I said there was no parchment like a pear.”

“In Mr. Ludger’s test? “You’re crazy.”

While the students were talking loudly Ludger stared at Line in silence and then slowly opened his mouth.

“Then what do you plan to do? Is it safe to say that there is no magic square to demonstrate?”

At those words Rine shook her head.

“no. The magic square was definitely created. but….”

    “but?”

“It’s difficult to transfer and draw on parchment. So I’m going to show it to you in person.”

I was thinking of asking her what an amazing thing she had created but looking at Rine’s unwavering eyes it was clear that she wasn’t just saying it in vain.

    “good night. “Show me.”

Instead if you don’t live up to your expectations even just a little bit you can’t avoid getting scolded no matter how much you are Rine.

Liné took a deep breath and summoned her magic power.

She put a lot of thought into creating a magic square to show in the exam.

Other students ended up showing attribute elements through magic squares but even that was impossible for her with non-attribute magical power.

Since she was behind from the starting point and was at a disadvantage Line said she would do the best she could.

It was inevitable that I had no idea where to start.

This would certainly have been the case if it weren’t for the book of non-attribute magic that Ludger lent me.

But thanks to reading that book I was able to figure out which way to proceed and not give up.

    And now.

    Prove it here.

‘I’ll show it to the teacher. ‘I have changed so much.’

Stretch both hands forward and slowly generate magical power. As I concentrated my mind completely I felt like I was the only one left in the world.

Soon a magic trick drawn with a magical line began to appear in front of Rine.

    slowly.

    But clearly.

Ludger’s eyebrows twitched as he saw it taking shape.

Of course the expression quickly returned to its original state and no student noticed the change.

This was because everyone’s eyes were on the magic square technique that Line created.

    “…It’s a three-dimensional magic square.”

“As expected the teacher recognizes me at a glance. yes that’s right.”

Ludger made that assessment as he looked at Line’s magic square floating in front of him.

While other magic squares were two-dimensional drawings drawn on parchment the one Line created was a three-dimensional magic square.

This technique which resembles a Rubik’s Cube is called a three-dimensional magic square in mathematics and a Magic Cube in the occult.

Ludger looked closely at the flow of magical energy engraved in the spell. This was to check whether it was simply an imitation of the shape.

    but.

    ‘It’s perfect.’

    There isn’t a single flaw.

The sum of all the horsepower in the cross section as well as all the horizontal vertical height and three-dimensional diagonals that exist in the cube is the same.

It was truly a perfect three-dimensional magic square with force flowing equally in all directions and no deviation.

‘You studied magic constants to this extent? It would have been insufficient to achieve this level of results within the given time but we achieved it.’

Was it unsettling that Ludger remained silent?

Line’s shoulders which were confident at first began to shrink little by little.

    “Rine.”

It was then that Ludger who took his eyes off the three-dimensional magic square opened his mouth.

    “Your grade is A+.”

    “yes?”

“no. Rather it’s a shame that I can only give you this much. That’s how perfect the magic square you created is. That’s great. “It’s amazing.”

    “yes? yes?”

Line couldn’t come to her senses due to Ludger’s continuous praise.

    Perfect. amazing. Excellent.

Aren’t these words of high praise that have never come out of Ludger’s mouth and are unlikely to come out in the future?

But Ludger wasn’t just saying empty words he was sincere.

‘You’re born with a talent for this.’

Unlike other students Liné cannot use elemental magic due to her non-attribute magic. At the same time releasing magic power itself was quite difficult.

But is it true that as much as there is something to lose there is also something to gain?

Rine’s cognitive ability for shapes especially 3D space was much higher than that of other students.

‘no. There is no need to compare yourself with other students. It’s just overwhelming.’

Flora Lumos who created Jisu Guimundo through Magic Square could certainly be called a possessor of great talent.

Even Flora had to give up on Rine for now.

    “Rine.”

    “….”

    “Rine.”

    “yes? Who? Me?”

“It means there’s someone else here besides you.”

“Oh I see. “You called me…”

Line was still out of his mind.

Although I did my best with the sole intention of not disappointing Mr. Ludger I had no idea that I would receive such good reviews.

“Rine. How did you come up with this magic square? “Even if the idea was like that actually implementing it as a technique would have been almost impossible in such a short period of time.”

    “Oh that’s why….”

Line calmly explained how she came to create this technique.

“At first I thought a lot about just creating something new. However I felt that thinking alone was not enough so I tried to deal with magical power in various ways with the feeling of hitting it first.”

    “Have you tried handling it?”

    “It just so happened….”

“How did you happen to finish it?”

    Line nodded shyly.

“I didn’t mean to but somehow the flow of my mana um… naturally? Should I say that’s how it goes? “I went with the flow and developed the magic square I had envisioned in my head and this is what happened.”

─I just did it and it became natural.

It was truly something only a person with extreme talent could say.

‘You just did it? ‘That’s funny.’

‘You have to lie in moderation.’

The students who heard that thought that Line was deliberately bluffing to impress Ludger.

However Ludger’s expression did not change much.

Ludger knew better than anyone else that Line was not the type of person to enrich herself by telling lies.

    Everything she says is true.

    ‘The magic flowed naturally?’

Usually magic power does not move on its own outside of the caster’s will.

There was a high possibility that he did it instinctively without even realizing it.

And it was highly likely that the reason he suddenly showed such talent after not showing much prominence until now was because he had read a book on non-attribute magic that Ludger had given him some time ago.

‘Maybe the book I gave you acted as a kind of trigger.’

Non-attribute magical power is an unknown power whose origin is still unknown.

However looking at the magic square that Line created now I can get a sense of what it is specialized for.

    “teacher? Are you okay?”

“…It’s no big deal. Anyway I enjoyed seeing the great magic square. “Thank you for your hard work.”

    “Oh yes.”

Line couldn’t shake the feeling that Ludger was ending the situation in some haste.

However the reason I couldn’t ask why was because Ludger’s expression was so serious even though it was only for a moment.

“I believe everyone remembers their scores. If there is someone you have erased from your memory check the classroom bulletin board. “I will appoint a teaching assistant soon and announce it.”

At those words the students who received low scores sighed deeply.

“The top five in the second test were Flora Lumos who received an A+ Julia Plumheart who received an A and Iona Ovalley and Aidan who received a B+. “It wasn’t my intention but the numbers ended up fitting perfectly.”

The five named above were eligible to receive the second framework.

Ludger said he was too busy to give it to me right now so he would give it to me after the upcoming magic festival.

“ha. I really want to die. “What is D? D.”

“You are better. I am E-. “It’s not the lowest point but what’s the difference between it and the lowest point?”

“I should have worked a little harder.”

The expressions of the noble students were seriously distorted by the fact that only two of the top five students in this test were nobles.

Moreover one of the top five people is not a commoner but a sub-race even a beastman.

Students who have been educated for a longer period of time receive lower scores than the barbaric beast people. To be honest the parties involved still felt like it was a dream.

“If any student is dissatisfied with his or her test results please tell me directly. If you really think it’s unfair I’ll reexamine it individually. Even if you take the time.”

When Ludger spoke with his eyes focused the students who had been secretly muttering their complaints fell silent.

With that the second test ended.

The students each packed their luggage. Today’s exam was over so some students wanted to go back to the dormitory to rest while others were going to take another class exam.

Ludger stared at Linne who was still standing between them with a confused look on her face.

    ‘Is it non-attribute magical power?’

Non-attribute magical power is an unknown power that even Ludger does not yet know its origin or reason for.

Even in research books on non-attribute magic power there were no detailed information about what kind of power this magic power was.

Most of what was included was an explanation of how magic can be performed with this non-attribute magic power.

‘The flow of magical power naturally flowed into the three-dimensional magic square. It didn’t feel like I was forcing it. Are you saying that the magic resistance rate is high?’

    Magical drop rate.

It is a measure of how suitable the magician’s magic is for performing a specific magic.

Even if the same magic is used the power of the magic varies depending on the nature of the magic.

[Rumbling Flame] which is considered the most representative attack magic is stronger when used by a magician with fire elemental magic than when used by a magician with water elemental magic.

This is because the magic drop rate is higher.

‘The non-attribute magical power that has not yet been revealed has the lowest magical accuracy rate for any magic. What’s different about this magic square is that it’s specialized in that area right?’

    perhaps.

Ludger made a what-if assumption in his mind.

Non-attribute magical power is not simply magical power specialized for elements that exist in nature.

It is something that is at a much higher level than that and cannot be measured by people in the world today.

    ‘For example… space.’

There are many types of magic in this world but the only one that does not exist is spatial magic.

Things like teleportation and blinking were treated like empty legends in this world.

‘It’s a funny story. There is anti-magic dreams divinity paintings origami all kinds of things but space magic is the only thing that doesn’t exist.’

What’s even funnier is that there is magic that interferes with ‘time’ but there is no space.

Of course this time magic is not as useful as its name suggests but it is not a magic that does not exist.

In other words Ludger was the only one in this world who knew how to use space magic.

‘If Line’s magic is really related to space…’

It’s still just a hypothesis so I can’t say for sure.

But if the hypothesis turns out to be true then.

    ‘I absolutely need that power.’

    * * *

Flora Lumos moved to take the next exam subject with her best friend Cheryl Wagner.

Cheryl asked Flora who was walking down the hallway in silence.

“Flora. “How did you do that?”

    “what?”

“There is a magic square a magic square. Flora won first place on that one. Mr. Ludger’s class seems to be something different but it is also very difficult. How do you do that often?”

The intention behind Cheryl’s words may have been purely a compliment that envied her genius.

But Flora couldn’t be purely happy.

    “I’m not in first place.”

“But Flora got the highest score.”

“…Do you really need to say that with my own mouth? “That’s because there are other people besides me who got the highest score.”

    “That kid named Line?”

“What the hell? That magic square. And so does the teacher. “That’s a compliment you’ve never given me before…”

I can’t believe you do that much.

To be honest I was both disappointed and angry.

Suddenly I remembered meeting Linne near Teacher Ludger’s teacher’s office.

Since I didn’t know him I just ignored him at the time but looking back I found it very suspicious.

    ‘…that kid.’

Flora bit her lip slightly thinking of Line.

Given Mr. Ludger’s ironclad personality it was difficult to even imagine him approaching a student warmly.

Rather it might be the other way around.

‘No I’m sure. If it were someone else they would be overwhelmed by Mr. Ludger’s force and wouldn’t be able to speak but if it were someone who had the audacity to casually hang out with the third princess…’

I thought he was quiet but he turned out to be more fox-like than I thought.

Before that I thought there was a lot of friction with other noble students and I thought I knew why.

But since exams were a priority for now Flora decided to turn off her interest in Line.

    “….”

    “….”

That is until I encountered Rine with the Third Princess at the entrance to the classroom where the next exam would be held.
