◈ Episode 128 First test results

The students who were talking among themselves all fell silent.

When Ludger Chelsea stands on the podium everyone maintains silence. This has long been an unwritten rule in Ludger’s classrooms.

    ‘It’s still quiet today.’

On the other hand Ludger felt a little disappointed at the sight of students keeping their mouths shut every time he entered class.

I felt that way even more after hearing that other teachers greeted me with a smile when I entered the classroom.

‘Did I do something embarrassing to the students?’

does not exist. I taught the class diligently and put as much thought into the exam questions as I could when creating them.

Didn’t he even say that he would personally teach the [source code] which has become his trademark to students who ranked in the rankings?

Although he was not a generous giving tree he was confident that he had provided more benefits than other teachers.

And yet such a heavy reaction.

‘I didn’t expect there would be such a reaction even if I told you the test results.’

After all first impressions may have been the problem.

At the time the decision to get a job was made so suddenly that I was not prepared for it so it was a choice I had no choice but to make.

‘I’m sorry but I guess there’s nothing we can do.’

Still Ludger intended to do his best in this role during his time in charge so he decided to continue teaching classes steadily as always.

“As I said before I will let you know the results of the first test before we start class today.”

    Results of the first test.

That meant that the score on the first test taken after entering Seorn came out and it meant that it would determine one’s future position.

    However no student reacted rashly.

It might be true in any other class but if you do something like that in Ludger’s class you’ll be under his knife-like gaze.

“The entire seating chart will be hung on the information bulletin board by Sedina after class. “But I guess what you’re curious about right now isn’t something trivial like this.”

At Ludger’s words a look appeared in the students’ eyes.

Most of them have young gazes full of eagerness.

Ludger decided to meet that expectation.

“We will announce the rankings from 1st to 5th in this first test. And as we promised in the beginning we will provide the source code magic framework to the top 5 rankings.”

The students closed their mouths and stared at Ludger.

When I first entered the classroom my silence was due to tension and fear but now I was so focused and excited that I couldn’t even think of speaking.

“I will announce first place first. “It seems like everyone was quite excited to see who would take first place and their guess was probably correct.”

Some students’ eyes were focused on one female student.

No matter what anyone says if anyone were to rank first it would be Flora Lumos who also received the genius title in Seorn.

    “joy.”

The person who received the gaze Flora Lumos still maintained an upright posture and relaxed as if it was no big deal.

Flora herself also had no doubt that she was first place.

    “First place. Flora Lumos.”

And as everyone expected Flora’s name came out.

The students reacted the same way and Flora also slightly raised her sassy attitude.

Maybe it’s because she’s been messing around a lot lately but that’s the kind of person she used to be.

    “And it’s Julia Plumheart.”

    …!

When another name came out the students were shocked.

Everyone’s eyes turned to the white-haired girl sitting on one side of the classroom.

    She was still smiling mysteriously.

“Both are tied for first place with a perfect score out of 100.”

When Ludger came out with the score all the students had no choice but to agree.

If they both received a perfect score which is the maximum score it makes sense that they would be tied for first place.

“and. It’s the same as Flora Lumos? “It’s no joke.”

“He came in at the top of his class when he entered school. “I heard that the Magic Tower is giving me a boost so it’s worth it.”

If you think about it there was nothing strange about it. Julia Plumheart was the valedictorian with the highest score for entering freshmen this year.

Even so it’s on the same level as Flora Lumos. It occurred to me that another genius may have appeared in Seorn.

“There are two first place winners so there is no second place winner. “I’ll announce the third place right away.”

Ludger’s eyes turned to one side of the classroom.

The trio including Aidan and Taycey Leo who received that gaze swallowed their saliva without realizing it.

Why are you looking this way? What did we do wrong?

“Third place. This is Taycee Friard. “It’s 98.7 out of 100.”

    uh?

Aidan and Leo turned to Tacie at the same time.

When her name was mentioned Taycee Freeard was stunned for a moment then clenched her fists.

“and. Tacie. congratulations! “Isn’t it amazing to come in third place?”

    “Is it pretty?”

Aidan who was sitting next to him and Leo who was sitting in front congratulated him.

“Huh. Do you understand now? “I am naturally this kind of person.”

Some nobles glared at Teishi with jealous eyes as if they didn’t know that she a fallen noble would take third place.

Normally she with her fiery personality would have reacted to this and glared back but since she achieved a satisfactory result of 3rd place she was lenient now.

“Awesome Tacie. “It was worth studying hard.”

“Hmph. Aidan. If you want I can teach you to study? how is it? Do you want to do it?”

Tacie blushed slightly and spoke to Aidan in an embarrassed manner.

Aidan answered those words with a bright smile.

“no way. are you okay. “You can’t disturb Teishi’s studies just because of me right?”

    “….”

“Oh ah! Te Teisi. “Why are you doing this all of a sudden?”

    “I don’t know idiot!”

Aidan was taken aback when he saw Tayce suddenly hitting his forearm with his fist.

Could it be that I made some mistake?

However the moment he was about to say an apology Ludger opened his mouth.

    “Next is fourth place.”

    The students held their breath.

Up to 3rd place is still okay. At least the names that have come up now are people who were famous before.

Tayce also ranks next to Julia in terms of freshman admission score. It was no wonder that high grades were obtained here.

But now that those three were gone the classroom containing the remaining two seats was filled with tension.

From 4th and 5th place it is completely outside of calculations.

Who exactly is it? Could it be me? Or him? I can never be as good as that guy.

The attention of the students who all had similar thoughts focused on Ludger.

He didn’t seem to miss a single word about whose name his lips would say or who his straight gaze would turn to.

Anyone would be nervous if they received this kind of excessive attention but Ludger didn’t even flinch.

I’ve felt this for a long time but he was truly a man of steel.

At that time Ludger’s eyes turned to one side of the classroom.

Wherever that direction was she was there.

Erendir von Exilion. The third princess of the Exilion Empire.

    The students thought to themselves.

‘ah. The 3rd princess is in 4th place.’

Of course most of them were freshmen’s opinions and some sophomores were quite embarrassed.

‘huh? ‘The 3rd princess is in 4th place?’

It’s true that she’s a princess and I know she’s quite talented at magic but isn’t that purely based on actual practice?

At least in their memories Erendir was not even in the middle of the rankings during his first year.

“4th place overall is Line. “98 out of 100.”

    “…What!”

    “That doesn’t make sense.”

And the name that came out was completely unexpected.

A look of astonishment turned towards Linne who was sitting next to Erendir.

At least the 1st to 3rd place rankings so far were all nobles.

Of course Teishi was a fallen aristocrat so he was different from regular aristocrats but at least thinking that way gave other students a sense of relief.

But isn’t Line just a commoner without a last name?

    “Me?”

Line who was involved seemed quite embarrassed as if he didn’t know his name would be mentioned.

I didn’t study specifically with the aim of getting a high ranking I just did my best at the given moment.

    Ludger nodded silently.

There was no way Ludger would lie in a situation like this so it was clear that she was in 4th place overall.

Liné felt like her mind was floating in the sky. It was a natural reaction to see the best results even though I didn’t expect it.

    “Rine… you’re amazing.”

    “Oh no. “What?”

Erendir looked quite embarrassed as if he had not known that Ryne would achieve such excellent results.

At least I wanted to show a more respectable and cool image as a senior but I was pushed out of the theory test rankings!

It was both happy and quite heartbreaking for her.

The reactions of other students were also quite mixed. This was especially true for noble students.

Most of the glances that were glanced at Line were filled with hostility.

It was difficult to accept the reality that I had lost to a commoner.

Moreover Line was the one who caused the commotion by having friction with a noble student in the past.

At that time Liné had done nothing wrong but the noble students already recognized Liné as an arrogant commoner who dared to confront a nobleman.

As a result even if she got good grades people did not look kindly on her.

    “Quiet.”

Ludger’s voice immediately captured the atmosphere of the classroom which was about to become noisy.

“If you are dissatisfied with your grades tell me.”

No student objected to those words. There was no way I could say to Ludger’s face that I was dissatisfied with the result without going crazy.

In the end the noble students decided to overlook the fact that the commoner took fourth place.

    If so at least.

This shattered pride will be satisfied only if the name of a nobleman enters the final 5th place.

“I will announce the 5th place winner.”

The noble students swallowed their saliva.

Some even had cold sweat forming on their clenched fists.

“Fifth place is Leo. “The total score is 94.3 out of 100.”

However contrary to expectations it was none other than Leo a commoner who ranked 5th.

Aidan stared at Leo with wide eyes.

This chic light blue-haired boy still had a sour look on his face as if he was not very impressed with his 5th place finish.

Teishi stuttered as if she didn’t know that Leo would come in 5th place.

“What are you? “You did quite a bit right?”

“I just did it in moderation.”

“joy. Well I’m in 3rd place. know? “It’s different from you who came in 5th place.”

    “Who said what?”

The two people bickering as usual.

However other students were not as comfortable as Teishi and Leo.

Two of the five top seats were occupied by commoners.

In other words it meant that the noble students who did not make it to the top five were worse than those two commoners.

Of the five ranks only three are pure nobles. One of them is a daughter from a fallen noble family who is not even treated as a noble.

For nobles being below the commoners is more shameful than anything else.

    ‘You’re glaring very blatantly.’

Leo felt the enemy’s young gaze directed at him.

They were all aristocratic students filled with the spirit of being the chosen people.

Just by looking at the eyes Leo felt as if he was shouting ‘He’s just a commoner.’

They couldn’t make it into the rankings because they couldn’t study so why are they glaring at this side?

‘Tsk. This is why I don’t want to have anything to do with nobles.’

Leo was not the type of person to bow down to someone just because they were nobles. In fact they were the ones who protested even more.

That’s why Leo sneered back at the students who were glaring at him as if they were going to kill him.

    profit!

Some nobles got angry and tried to react but their remaining patience made them realize that they were currently in class.

Now on the podium is Ludger Cellisi.

That man who didn’t even care if his opponents were nobles was an object of fear for noble students.

“The five people named above should come to the teacher’s office after class and receive the framework. “It doesn’t matter if you don’t come right away but you must take it at least before the second test.”

With those words Ludger gestured to his assistant Sedina who was standing quietly next to him.

Sedina immediately moved and handed out papers to the students. It was material for today’s class.

“So let’s start class. “What I’m going to teach you today is a magic circle based on ‘release of magic power.’”

Magic circles are the most basic field for wizards.

Nowadays I use a technique that draws a line connected by magical power in a three-dimensional space but I used to draw a magic circle much before that.

    ‘Magic circle?’

‘Today’s class is surprisingly ordinary isn’t it?’

Magic circles are still a useful discipline.

A magic circle is essential for a talisman or artifact made by engraving magic on an object.

Because three-dimensional magic is unsuitable for engraving on objects or paper magic circles that can be created as if drawn on a flat surface are still in the spotlight.

Above all magic circles last longer than magic.

A magic spell engraved in the air is a one-time use that only works once but as long as the magic circle is engraved it lasts for a long time before the trace disappears.

Therefore magic circles are still considered a basic yet important study for wizards.

    “Look.”

Ludger immediately drew a circle on the magic board.

A large truly perfect circle was drawn in the center of the board.

“Most magic circles are drawn around a circle. “It’s an old tradition but it has its own meaning.”

The reason the magic circle is drawn as a circle is because this shape represents the world itself.

In addition the circle was also a shape that contained a firm belief that it would protect oneself from external forces.

Therefore magic circles have always been developed by drawing a circle first adding double circles inside it or drawing various shapes.

“But this is something everyone knows. “I also don’t want to teach such outdated content.”

Ludger said that and erased the circle he had drawn.

Instead Ludger drew another symbol on the magic board.

“This is the magic circle I will teach you.”

The students who saw the magic board were perplexed.

It was worth it. Because the pattern that Ludger created just now was not a circle which is the basis of a magic circle.

    “What is that?”

    “That’s a magic circle?”

It is a shape that cannot be understood with existing common sense.

    It was square.
