The Academy’s Undercover Professor – 125

◈ Episode 125 Stählern Kapelle (2)
Hans was floating in an endless dark space.
It feels like I’m submerged in water but also like I’m floating in the sky.
‘Where am I?’
How long was it in that space?
Hans opened his eyes and realized that he was not in the dark.
It was a beast.
The black things around him were not darkness but animal fur.
‘…!’
I was shocked and tried to scream but no voice came out.
At that moment red eyes appeared among the group of black fur.
Three pairs of the biggest eyes looked down at Hans.
The animals roared and rushed at Hans.
Ouch! Hans was flailing his arms and legs frantically to survive.
At that moment I felt a cold and strange touch on my palm.
Hans held it tightly as if grasping at a straw.
At the same time Hans woke up from his dream with a strong pulling sensation on his body.
“Huh! “Huh!”
“Are you awake?”
“Brother tongue?”
Hans looked at Ludger who was looking down at him and asked back in a stupid voice.
He was sitting on a chair next to the bed with one leg crossed.
“What on earth happened? “Where are we?”
“This is a secret hideout. I brought you in when you fainted. Is there anything strange here? “It’s a painful place or something.”
“No there is none….”
“Then that’s a good thing.”

“I guess I didn’t die by accident.”
Hans recalled the scene before he fainted.
Unlucky he encountered warlocks and their curse consumed his body.
So right before he died he embedded the monster tooth that Ludger gave him into his body.
All I remember after that are small and fragmentary memories that can only be called fragments.
“Have I become a monster who has lost his mind?”
“okay.”
“And yet you’re still alive…”
“I guess that’s fortunate. “Hans give it back now.”
“yes? “What are you asking for?”
“What you agreed to give me.”
ah.
Hans belatedly realized what Ludger was asking for.
A piece of relic. Didn’t he say he would personally deliver it to Ludger?
but.
‘…that. It was stolen by a warlock.’
The last thing I saw was what the warlock was holding in his hand.
After that Hans didn’t know where the piece was. Because I have no memories left.
‘It’s ruined.’
In the worst case scenario it may be buried beneath the half-collapsed remains of the Kunst auction house.
As I thought about that cold sweat ran down my back.
“My brother. So… don’t be surprised and listen carefully.”
“Stop talking nonsense and give me what you’re holding in your right hand.”
“right hand?”
Hans then realized that he was holding something with his right hand.
The cool touch I felt in my dream.
When I opened my palm there was a piece of the Relic that Hans had been looking for.
“Huh? Why is this here….”
“He’s been holding it in his hand since he passed out.”
“Me?”
“okay. Even when I faint and when I move it here. I was holding it as if I could never let go. So I just left it alone.”
At those words Hans looked down at his right hand in silence.
Suddenly I burst out laughing.
“ha ha ha.”
It wasn’t taken away.
Even at the moment he turned into a monster what little bit of reason he had left protected him.
In some ways it wasn’t really a big deal but Hans was heartbroken for no reason.

“…Take it. “I’m glad I didn’t lose it or anything.”
“Thank you for your hard work. “Hans.”
“That’s it. “Because it was what I was supposed to do.”
Hans laughed heartily and handed the piece of Relic to Ludger.
Ludger took it touched the piece of relic with his fingertips and then stood up.
“If you have come to your senses get up now. “Because I have a lot to talk about with everyone including you.”
“What happened after the auction house was robbed?”
“Of course there is that but that’s not important anymore.”
“yes?”
Hans tried to ask what that meant but Ludger left the room first so he had no choice but to hurriedly get up and chase after him.
In the conference room we went down to all of the other colleagues were already seated.
Their eyes widened slightly when they saw Hans waking up fine.
Hans felt burdened by those stares and smiled awkwardly.
“Now then where should we start talking?”
Ludger ignored the reactions of his subordinates and opened his mouth.
“First of all everyone worked hard. “It was a series of unintended events but thanks to everyone’s good work the operation ended successfully.”
“Wow! “We are rich now!”
Sheridan raised his arms and let out a shout of joy.
Bella Luna who was also watching awkwardly raised her arms and shouted ‘Hey~’ in a weak voice.
“But it’s too early to be happy. Because these stolen items are not immediately exchanged for money. At the very least it will take quite a long time to safely dispose of the stolen valuables.”
The good news was that the Kunst that was supposed to be tracked down was completely ruined so there was no need to worry about being caught.
“But there is another story that is really important.”
Those words made everyone look like they were coming.
“Everyone must have felt something while working together for the first time. You must have realized it at the same time. “What kind of abilities do the colleagues I will be working with in the future have?”
As Ludger said the executives who did not yet know each other completely clearly imprinted each other’s abilities in their minds through this operation.
The first to speak was Alex.
“Well honestly I was surprised. “A person transforms into a huge beast. This is the first time I’ve seen something like this.”
“You too for saying that.”
Pantos who had been listening silently looked at Alex and got excited.
“He uses a rather unusual sword technique. Was it a knight?”
“I wasn’t a knight I was just an ordinary aspirant.”
“It’s definitely not at the level of an ordinary aspirant.”
Alex fought on equal footing with the Nightcrawler knight.
He says he is an aspirant but in terms of pure skill he is a strong man comparable to a high-ranking knight.
He was an incredibly talented person despite his young age. The reason that a person of this level of skill is hiding his identity and acting like a fraud is probably because he has unspeakable circumstances.
As the atmosphere became increasingly unfavorable to him Alex immediately changed the topic.
“Rather than that a leader. “What on earth was that lady?”
It was a blatant change of topic but everyone paid attention to what he said.
The thing I was most curious about was the blue-haired wizard who was also there.
A wizard who controls water.
Even Alex who had little knowledge of magic was convinced that she was not an ordinary person.
“I’m curious too.”
Pantos who usually speaks little was unusually curious.
Since Pantos was only interested in the strong Casey Selmore was also included in that category.
Even if you pretend not to other people are also interested.
That’s why the relationship between Casey Selmore and Ludger was a hot topic of interest to everyone.
As gazes naturally gathered Ludger shook his head.
“It’s just a bad relationship from the past.”
“Looking at the reaction it seems like they met when the leader was working under the name James Moriarty. that’s right?”
“I did.”
What happened in the Kingdom of Delica remained so vividly in Ludger’s memory that it was one of the few events from his past years.
Ludger opened his mouth saying he had nothing to hide since he had come this far anyway.
“Her name is Casey Selmore. “As you know it is the Selmore family.”
“Selmore? for a moment. When it comes to the Selmore family that I know the only thing that comes to mind is the famous magic family. that’s right?”
“There is only one name Selmore so it is the family you are talking about.”
Hans who had wide feet in these parts knew very well the weight of that name.
“The Selmore family has long been famous as a family that produced great wizards. “Even recently we produced two wizards who received the title of color.”
And one of the wizards with the title of that color was Casey Selmore who had a connection with Ludger.
A wizard and a detective.
He is a genius whose achievements as a detective leave a mark.
“I first met Casey Selmore in Delica Kingdom.”
“Did we meet by chance?”
“at all. Rather she came to me.”
Ludger frowned slightly as if thinking about that time still gave him a headache.
* * *
“At that time I was traveling to the Kingdom of Delica.”
“Travel?”
While explaining how he met Betty he started off by talking about his travels.
Erendir could not hide his wonder.
“A trip is a trip um. What should I say? “It had a purpose.”
“For what purpose?”
“At that time I was at the height of my arrogance as I had gained considerable recognition and fame as a detective.”
Casey was conceited because everyone praised him as a genius. I also enjoyed the reactions of people praising and praising me.
At that moment she heard a rumor about a man in Delica Kingdom which she happened to be visiting.
“I heard that there is a professor who is very brilliant and bright. “Even at a young age there are people who have established numerous mathematical formulas and are especially versed in geometry.”
“professor? That couldn’t be….”
“that’s right. “He was Professor James Moriarty.”
“yes? “But wasn’t he a vicious criminal?”
“He later became known that way but the man first gained fame because he was an outstanding mathematician. “It’s not for nothing that the title ‘professor’ is added to his name.”
Of course the title “professor” later changed to have the negative connotation of someone who promotes crime.
“I first went to Delica Kingdom to see who that prestigious person was. And we actually met.”
Casey who remembered their first meeting back then had a blatantly annoyed expression on his face.
However I had no intention of disparaging his achievements.
No matter what anyone says the geometric formulas he created were so great that they caused a stir in the world of mathematics.
“What kind of person was he?”
“Unlucky taste of food.”
“yes?”
Erendir was greatly taken aback as if he had not expected such an assessment to come out of Casey’s mouth.
Don’t you usually say something like ‘He was an unusual person from the first time we met’ or ‘He looked suspicious even at first glance’?
“Anyway he was a very annoying person. Should I say that I am a person who lives for his own taste? “How is it that so much luck drips from every word you say?”
“But how did you find out that such a person was a criminal?”
“Shortly after I visited the Delica Kingdom a series of disappearances occurred. Many people disappear without a trace every day. Especially young children.”
“It’s a disappearance case….”
“I wandered around trying to follow the traces and then I came across an important clue. “It was an abandoned mine where people stopped visiting but there were suspicious people there.”
Then as Casey headed deep into the mine he witnessed something amazing.
It was not just an abandoned mine but a laboratory where some kind of secret work was being carried out.
A space full of all kinds of machines.
A factory made of steel and pipe mechanical springs.
And what was inside…
“James Moriarty. “It was that guy.”
Not James Moriarty as a famous mathematician.
It was the first time I met criminal James Moriarty.
Casey clenched his fists as he recalled the scene at that time.
At first I just wanted to think that I had the wrong person or that there was a misunderstanding but that wasn’t the case.
The bodies of Delica Kingdom police officers were scattered around Professor Moriarty.
Above all the body of a child who had gone missing that day was lying in front of Professor James Moriarty.
And what was on the white gloves that Professor Moriarty was wearing was the red blood that had flowed from the child.
Almost instinctively Casey raised her wand and fired a spell at him.
Professor Moriarty also naturally blocked her magic.
It was the first clash between the genius detective and the criminal mastermind of the century whom celebrities were talking about.
“After that everything was as it was known. “That day the fight was over and he ran away and I continued to chase him to apprehend him.”
While following the traces of James Moriarty she encountered hidden incidents lurking in the Kingdom of Delica and solved them one by one.
An incident in which several people went missing has grown into a huge plan that puts the survival of the nation at stake.
Monopoly of the military industry to wage war. Development of new weapons. A plan to assassinate a key figure in another kingdom. Even a secret laboratory that uses people as test subjects.
Casey dug into them one by one. All the people involved were captured alive and their plans were exposed in detail.
The newspapers of the Delica Kingdom were filled with new events every day.
And three days before the day of the decisive battle.
She encountered James Moriarty in a factory.
“It was a secret base manufacturing automatons. “I don’t know where they were secretly preparing something like that but I was impressed.”
Moriarty told Casey who came there without even thinking about hiding his plan.
He even went so far as to ask for favors from leading figures in the country in order to start a war and make a huge amount of wealth.
And just before the results that will realize the plan are completed.
A large explosion occurred and the factory was instantly engulfed in flames.
“An explosion? “Did you really do that detective?”
Casey glanced at Erendir.
“Hey princess. I am a wizard who controls water. “It’s not a bomb horse.”
At that time she was still immature and did not even have the title of Vicolor and she could only use water elemental magic.
“…Of course it is true that we took steps to prevent the factory from operating properly in preparation for an unexpected situation. “But it wasn’t big enough to cause an explosion.”
The reason she timidly refuted it was because she wasn’t sure what caused the explosion at that time.
Maybe it really was because she touched something wrong at the factory.
But that wasn’t the important thing.
Because the arrest of James Moriarty the mastermind and center of all these incidents was her top priority.
However James Moriarty could not fight properly in the factory as it was engulfed in flames and he fled.
Eventually Casey became desperate and searched the burning factory for evidence and found Betty.
Betty was kept as if asleep in a half-collapsed room.
The word ‘β’ was written on the large capsule where she was lying.
“Betty is a special automaton created there. In other words Betty’s existence itself is evidence of the scene at the time.”
Casey took Betty and escaped from the factory.
Immediately after she escaped the factory burned down to ashes.
“So something like that happened.”
Erendir couldn’t help but be impressed after hearing Casey’s entire story. It was the same for Enya.
It was originally a famous story but hearing it directly from the person involved gave it a very different feel.
But in fact there was one thing Casey did not tell Erendir and Enya.
‘All I saw then was a half-collapsed room and Betty.’
To be exact Code Name Beta the project’s success.
If so one doubt arises.
Doesn’t the fact that there is a code name beta mean that something was created before that?
Project Alpha was definitely created before beta.
‘Then where on earth is that Project Alpha?’
* * *
Ludger’s story naturally ended with him meeting Arpa.
“You may have all felt this but Arpa here is not human. “He is an automaton made of machine clock and steel.”
“Oh my god.”
Hans who heard those words stuck out his tongue as if he was surprised.
“It was a machine? “Is it so similar to a person?”
“Because Arpa is special.”
“No even if it’s special this is beyond that level. How in the world can there be machines that are so similar to humans? “If you hadn’t told me I would have thought it was just something different.”
“….”
The eyes of everyone present turned to Hans.
It was as if his eyes were asking ‘What are you going to say?’
However when I heard that it was an automaton I finally understood the ridiculous abilities that Arpa showed.
“Then the girl who collided with Arpa at the scene.”
“She’s actually my little sister.”
The moment Arfa met Betty that day she realized it right away.
This kid is just like me. He said it was created for the same purpose as himself.
“I was surprised. “I never dreamed that I would see a child like me there.”
“Me too. “I never thought the automaton from the factory would still be there at that time.”
I can’t believe that the assistant girl that Casey Selmore was carrying around was the automaton that was thought to have been completely lost at the time.
Arfa opened her mouth with a still smile on her face.
“Still it’s nice to know I wasn’t the only one who survived the project.”
It was then that Violetta who had been listening quietly opened her mouth.
“So Arpa is the only automaton left in the Delica Kingdom?”
“That’s the way it is.”
“For what purpose was the Kingdom of Delica trying to create such an automaton?”
No matter how you look at it Arpa was not an ordinary automaton.
Not only does he have incredible physical strength and output but he also has outstanding intelligence and strange yet human emotions.
Ludger crossed his arms and closed his eyes.
“There is only one reason to mass produce soldiers who do not need knights or wizards and can be consumed as many times as needed.”
The Kingdom of Delica a steel and military industry powerhouse has one goal.
Rather than a tank or an anti-aircraft gun the attempt was to create a steel soldier with a human appearance that could think for itself and move autonomously.
Let’s turn the tide of war by using dolls made of steel which are readily available.
Project stählern Kapelle was carried out with that purpose in mind.
“It’s war.”
The first automaton and successful prototype created in the Iron Choir.
That was the existence of the code name Alpha Arpa.
