◈ Episode 116 Magic, Science, and Tricks (1)

    Ludger recalled an old incident.

Five years ago it was a time when he was active in the Kingdom of Delica under the name James Moriarty not Ludger Cellisi.

At that time he unintentionally got caught up in several incidents and as those incidents grew he became involved with all kinds of people.

Among them the most memorable person was Casey Selmore.

She was called a genius detective. In Ludger’s opinion that wasn’t an exaggeration at all.

Because she actually pushed him to the edge with her incredible reasoning skills and instincts.

It wasn’t just a figurative expression I actually fell off the cliff where the waterfall was falling as if I was going to die with him.

‘I can’t believe that crazy woman is coming here.’

Is it because I was staring too closely?

Casey Selmore suddenly turned his head perhaps feeling his gaze.

Before their eyes met Ludger hurriedly focused his gaze on the podium where the auction was being held.

    We almost made eye contact.

‘I was in disguise back then anyway so there’s no guarantee that she recognizes me now but you never know.’

Ludger wandered around the world and came to many realizations but among them there was one fact that he felt keenly.

─There are people in the world who shatter common sense.

And one of the people who shattered that common sense was Casey Selmore over there.

Ludger knows because he often hears rumors about her.

After a bad relationship during the time of James Moriarty Casey Selmore achieved tremendous magical achievements and was even given the title of a color symbolizing a single element.

‘Back then we barely had a chance to fight as equals but now that she has earned the title of Scarlet we can never fight her.’

Suddenly I felt that kind of anxiety.

If Casey Selmore is there he wonders if his plan to rob the auction house has been revealed.

    Ludger immediately shook his head.

‘We haven’t been caught yet. If that were the case there’s no way that woman with light hips would sit still like that and chat with the person sitting next to her.’

Now Erendir who was sitting next to him has reached a point where Ludger cannot even recognize his existence.

That’s how much of a threat Casey Selmore was to him.

‘At least looking at that woman sitting still like that it seems like she hasn’t realized what’s going on here yet.’

It will only be a matter of time.

If I sense anything suspicious I will jump out of my seat immediately.

What if a wizard who has earned the title of one of the few colors sets out to solve the case?

The strategy that had been put in so much effort several weeks ago would have gone to waste.

    ‘That’s embarrassing.’

Ludger could only hope that his subordinates would handle this operation as secretly as possible.

    “You’re here.”

Alex and Pantos who were loitering at the entrance of the elevator recognized Hans and Arfa who were disguised as handymen.

    “What about the key?”

    “here.”

In response to Hans’ question Alex lightly shook the key.

With this the four people were safely gathered at the elevator entrance.

    “Okay then let’s get ready.”

Hans and Arpa immediately took off the armor worn by the two guards who had fallen at the entrance.

“what. this. “Why is it so distorted?”

Hans frowned when he saw that the chest of the armor was dented.

If you look closely it’s not just a dent it’s got the shape of a fist engraved on it.

Hans glanced at Pantos’ fist out of the corner of his eye.

Hans who was roughly comparing the size of the marks on the armor and Pantos’ hand could not help but swallow his saliva.

I didn’t have the courage to question it.

“Mr. “It’s better than not wearing anything.”

Hans immediately put on the armor worn by the Blackguard. It was the same with Arpa.

The two men even held spears and completed their disguise as black guards guarding the entrance to the elevator.

The two unconscious guards placed the food ingredients they had brought in a cart and placed them in a place out of sight. Judging by his condition he was probably unconscious all day.

Alex immediately inserted the key into the hole. Then the elevator door opened with the sound of large gears turning inside.

    “good. “Then let’s go down.”

Alex tapped Pantos’ forearm with his fist in a friendly way.

Pantos wiggled his eyebrows and stared at Alex.

Alex smiled awkwardly and took a step back.

“Uh um. “Was it a bit like that?”

    “…That’s it. “Go down.”

Ignoring Alex Pantos entered the elevator.

    Alex also went inside whistling.

    “then. Good luck.”

    “okay.”

After saying hello to each other Alex closed the elevator door and went down.

    Kunst Auction House’s security room.

The guard who was monitoring the safe in the underground storage room in real time through the newly developed artifact yawned as if he was bored.

    “Hwaam!”

    “Hey. “Look straight ahead.”

“What should I do about something boring? “I think I would go crazy looking at the same scene that doesn’t change.”

“You think it’s just you? Just be patient. “I’ll have a shift later.”

“Ugh. “I know it’s harder because the real auction is taking place but what kind of person with a big liver goes in there?”

“That’s right. “Is there a way to get in there in the first place?”

Little by little conversation began to bloom in the silence in the security room.

If you sit for hours and just look at the same screen displayed through the artifact you will want to say something.

“Still it’s amazing. Thanks to this mysterious artifact we can see who goes inside and what they are doing. Otherwise I would have been crouching and waiting at the entrance to the basement.”

    “That’s right.”

    It was that moment.

    Cheezy.

The screen on the display crackled slightly and became blurry.

    “uh?”

    “what’s the matter?”

“no. “Didn’t the screen shake a little while ago?”

    “The screen? “Nothing’s wrong?”

It happened so quickly that even the security guard who first raised questions began to wonder what he had done wrong.

“Write. “I wonder what happened to my eyes after looking at the same screen for so long.”

It was just as I was about to conclude that I was mistaken.

A colleague sitting next to him touched his arm urgently.

    “what. why?”

“Hey hey that one. Do you see that?”

    “what?”

Following my colleague’s finger I moved my gaze to safe number 2 in the basement storage room.

    “uh?”

The security guard who was asking what was going on had no choice but to open his mouth at the scene unfolding inside.

One wall of vault number 2 had collapsed and an intruder was coming in through it.

Although their faces were covered with hoods there was no way they could have known who they were.

    “That one!”

“crazy! “It’s a few meters underground but they dug a tunnel to get in here?!”

The guards used a communication crystal ball to announce this very fact.

    * * *

    “what?!”

Ivan Luke who was boasting while chatting lightly with the guests suddenly heard a worker approaching him and whispering to him and ended up shouting without even realizing it.

Immediately after conscious of the stares around him he cleared his throat and lightly said ‘It’s nothing’ before quietly asking the user.

    “What did you just say?”

    “That means….”

“Why don’t you speak straight? “Do you want to get fired?”

“Well… an intruder appeared in the underground vault.”

    “…!”

Ivan Luke resisted yelling with desperate patience.

He managed to cool off his anger and asked what happened.

“What exactly happened? How could an intruder get in there? “What about the guys guarding the entrance?”

“That… the other party came in by digging underground…”

    “what? By digging a tunnel?”

It’s several tens of meters underground and you’re saying they dug a tunnel to get in there?

I wanted to ask why something like that didn’t make sense but since it was conveyed after confirmation through an artifact I don’t think it was a mistake.

    Ivan Luke became desperate.

‘If this continues the long-awaited auction will be ruined!’

How much preparation did you make for this auction? How much effort did you put into it?

In order to impress my father I poured everything I had into this to make up for the indecent behavior I showed at the last banquet hall.

I couldn’t let a dirty petty thief ruin the auction he was holding.

“Call the guards and gather them together.”

    “How much?”

Ivan Luke answered with burning eyes.

    “entire!”

    * * *

The blackguards who had been standing there like stone statues moved.

People didn’t notice they were moving.

Instead of moving all at once they quietly left one by one.

Before I knew it nearly twenty black guards were standing at the entrance to the elevator.

The Old Guard the person in charge of the guards stepped forward.

He was a man who had served here for 20 years.

“Are all the guys gathered together? “What about the rest?”

“The rest are staying in place to prepare for any unexpected situation.”

“good. 10 of these people should look outside. They dug a tunnel through an underground sewer. The distance won’t be that far so look out for the nearby sewer entrance and capture those running away. “If it’s not possible you can kill me.”

    “yes!”

“The remaining 10 people will go down the elevator with me and rush in. Everyone knows the manual right?”

    The blackguards nodded.

In some ways it was a fortunate thing for Kunst that they entered safe number 2.

Because the really important stuff was in safe number 3.

“The number of enemies is about 4. If you look at the fact that he sneaked all the way here his skills must be formidable. However there is no need to worry as there are people waiting inside. “The numbers are greater this way.”

Even though they knew they were strong they were not conceited.

As a paid professional I planned to do my best to suppress the enemy without looking down on them even if the number was small.

There are already other guards waiting below so it won’t be a problem if you join them and move together.

With that in mind the Black Guards took the elevator and went down.

The guard who was listening to this situation in the security room said.

    “The Blackguards are moving down.”

Ivan Luke was listening to this biting his nails in anxiety.

On the screen of the surveillance artifact he was seeing in real time the thieves were putting important items in the bags they had packed in advance.

‘Damn it! How much are the things in that box worth?’

Ivan was so nervous that he might lose them if things continued like this and his legs were shaking.

Meanwhile the security guard who was communicating in the security room slowly recited the situation.

“Guards. We arrived at the basement storage room. Please join the waiting staff inside.”

“Damn. Damn it. “What on earth were the people inside doing?”

Ivan said that out of frustration.

Of course it would be unfair to the people waiting inside.

Who would have thought that an intruder would come in by digging a tunnel underground?

The good news is that safe number 3 which contains the most important items is intact.

Ivan gave instructions to the guards through the communication bead.

“Capturing them is important but the top priority is to move the items in safe number 3 to a safe place. okay? And make sure to protect the items in safe number 2. “The things left there are valuables that will be shown later at midnight.”

    [All right.]

Even though the outer wall of safe number 2 had just been breached the thought that they might be targeting safe number 3 made me feel anxious and like I was going crazy.

The guards who received Ivan’s orders moved in perfect order.

The guards who joined the personnel in the basement split into two.

One is a suppression team that subdues criminals who are robbing safe number 2 without even knowing the subject.

It is said that these guys are working hard to rob the auction items without realizing that they have been discovered trespassing.

The remaining one is the convoy team whose role is to remove the items from safe number 3 and move them to a safe place.

This was a choice made because the safety of safe number 3 could not be guaranteed the moment safe number 2 was opened.

    “Move.”

The blackguards moved. Fortunately no one has invaded safe number 3 yet.

[This is the security room. The guards can be seen entering safe number 3.]

“i get it. “Hurry everyone move to a safe place.”

    “yes.”

“The rest follow me. “Let’s break the limbs of those insolent thieves.”

The guards of the suppression team stood in front of safe number 2.

    “I’m going.”

After matching the signal they immediately opened the door to safe number 2 and rushed inside.

    “Don’t move!”

The team leader who shouted like that was exuberant but then realized something was strange.

It was the same for other guards.

    “what.”

    “There’s no one right?”
