    Chapter Index

    “Lord Laughing Demon.”

    “Young Prelate.”

The two of them quietly stared at each other, and without the need to say much, Jian Wuji could feel the joy of the Extremely Evil Laughing Demon.

Jian Wuji felt lucky to have met such a trustworthy friend.

    “Your mask is beautiful.”

“It’s a mask I only wear when I go to parties, and it’s perfect for today’s occasion.”

The eyes of the Extremely Evil Laughing Demon were filled with laughter.

Jian Wuji no longer needed to guess the meaning behind his smile, at least, in front of him, the Extremely Evil Laughing Demon was sincere.

“I look forward to the day when we fight side by side again.”

    “Me too.”

The Extremely Evil Laughing Demon finished and laughed out loud. The Faceless Guests behind him, followed suit, their laughter, eerie and terrifying, was their way of celebrating Jian Wuji becoming the Young Sect Master.

The laughter of the Faceless Guest, the ghostly aura of the Illusionist, the demonic aura of the Blade Ghost and the Sword Demon, and the sound of the Mad Monk’s scriptures intertwined and filled the entire martial arts arena.

It wasn’t just the eight Demon Sovereigns that Jian Wuji was concerned about.

His gaze, moving away from the eight Devil Exalted Ones, looked at the disciples of the Heavenly Demon Hall.

He saw the figures of Demon Lord Zhang Hu. They were the Heavenly Demon Sect Master’s close friends, and if the Heavenly Demon Divine Sect was in danger, they would be the first to charge into battle.

Jian Wuji clasped his fists in greeting to Zhang Hu, and the Demon Monarchs erupted into even louder cheers.

He also thanked the investigating officers and law enforcement officers of the Yellow Springs Pavilion, and they returned the favor with loud cheers. Xu Dalong stood in the middle of the investigating officers with a wide smile on his face.

“Congratulations, Brother Sword! No, it’s the Young Preceptor!”

“I’ll follow you from now on!”

“Can you care for the rest of me as well?”

Jian Wuji smiled and responded to Xu Dalong before thanking the other department heads one by one. The cheers reached their peak.

Finally, Jian Wuji’s gaze, landed on a person. That person, even if he stood in the middle of the crowd, was still so dazzling. He saw Li An, and their gazes met in the air.

    “You look beautiful today.”

“There are so many people here today, so of course I’m going to dress up and look pretty, maybe I’ll meet a handsome young man.”

“All the men here combined are no match for me.”

    “Don’t you say that, I ……”

“I’m not talking about you, I’m talking about them, none of them compare to me.”

Li An laughed, she liked this sense of humor of Sword Wuji, even if he became the Young Sect Master, it didn’t change.

    “Congratulations, Young Padre.”

“Thanks to you, I’ve gotten this far.”

Li An would never know that if she hadn’t fought to protect herself, there wouldn’t be a Sword Wuji today.

Amidst the blessings of the crowd, Jian Wuji walked up to the high platform. He still had some people to thank.

He walked up to Chief Warlord Sima Ming, “Lord Warlord.”

    “Congratulations, Young Padre.”

Sima Ming had witnessed Jian Wuji’s growth with his own eyes, and he was both worried that Jian Wuji was too good and too elusive. Even today, he did not expect Jian Wuji to say such words.

“I’m a Young Preceptor now, can you secretly teach me how to play chess?”

Sima Ming laughed, “I’m afraid that won’t work.”

“You’re afraid I’ll win against you, aren’t you?”

“I just hope that the Heavenly Demon Divine Sect can be peaceful and stable. Aside from playing chess, the Tongtian Pavilion will always support the Young Sect Master.”

Jian Wuji and Sima Ming exchanged a few pleasantries before walking over to Jian Wuyang.

Jian Wuyang must have been the hardest person on the scene, he had the chance to get it all, but now he could only watch it all belong to someone else.

“Big brother, I only trust you.”

If it was just the two of them, Jian Wuyang would have scolded him for being a “psychopath”, but now, he could only endure it.

“I’m leaving the Heavenly Demon Sect in your hands.”

Jian Wuji suddenly hugged Jian Wuyang.

    “Are you crazy?”

“You’re the one who’s crazy for giving me such a great opportunity.”

    “You get off me!”

The cheers of the crowd resounded once again as Jian Wuji honored his promise and did not let this heir apparent battle turn into a bloody killing spree.

Finally, Jian Wuji walked up to Jian Wuduan, “Father.”

Jian Wuduan led Jian Wuji and walked to the edge of the high platform.

The two stood side by side as the cheers resumed.

Jian Wuduan used his actions to show that he fully supported Jian Wuji.

The late-night enthronement ceremony ended with deafening cheers.

Jian Wuyang walked alone on the road.

The entire Heavenly Demon God Sect was immersed in a sea of joy, as if they were celebrating a grand festival.

He wanted to be part of the fun, but he couldn’t.

His part was over, he was just a supporting actor who should have retired silently the moment the main character mounted the stage.

He kept his head down, walking slowly, when a voice came from behind him:

    “Sunless.”

He turned around and it was his father.

    “Father.”

Jian Wu Chen said in a gentle tone, “Let’s go eat together.”

Jian Wuyang’s eyes were suddenly moist, and he forced himself to hold back the tears, not letting them flow down. He didn’t want to let his father see him cry on a day like this.

“I happen to be hungry too.”

“Let’s go, the kitchen masters are not resting today, so let them make whatever you want.”

Father and son walked side by side towards the Heavenly Demon Hall.

Taking a walk with his father reminded Jian Wuyang of many past events.

He had tried so hard to get his father’s approval.

He tried to play the role of the eldest son, wanting to please his father, wanting to be praised by his father, wanting to be recognized by his father.

He thought that the only way to get it all was to become a Patriarch, and he thought that if he couldn’t be one, he would be mercilessly abandoned ……

    “Do you regret it?”

“No, instead I feel much more relaxed.”

Jian Wu Chen no longer treated him as an heir, but as a son.

Jian Wu Chen did not comfort him.

But the words “Let’s go eat together” are warmer and more touching than any comfort.

Jian Wuduan walked in front, and Jian Wuyang followed behind him.

Moonlight poured down on them, illuminating their path forward.

Jian Wuji stood on the roof, looking at the distant backs of his father and brother.

He had wanted to drink with his brother.

But when he saw his father taking his brother to dinner, he quietly left. He and his brother would have plenty of opportunities to drink later, but today, for his brother, eating with his father was all that mattered.

Perhaps, because of his rebirth, his brother became a permanent pain in his father’s heart.

He was grateful to his father for caring so much about his brother. Father, always father.

He leapt to the top of the tallest tower of the Heavenly Demon God Sect.

He stood at the top of the tower, overlooking the entire Heavenly Demon God Sect. The Heavenly Demon God Sect was brightly lit and bustling with activity, as if it was a huge funfair.

He stood in the center of joy and contemplated the road ahead. His heart was calm and determined, and he was ready for any challenge.

He stood at the top of the tower and waited until dawn.
