    Chapter Index

I know that trying to change the mind of a supremely evil demon is not something that can be done overnight.

I took the evil demon with me to a small tavern called the “Windfall Tavern”.

“This is where I often come.” I pointed at the tavern and said to the Extremely Evil Evil Demon.

“Looks like, it’s pretty ordinary.” The Extremely Evil Evil Demon looked around with a hint of disdain in his tone.

“This place may be humble, but the wine and food taste like the best,” I said with a smile, “and the owner of this place, is the only one who knows your true identity.”

“Oh? Is that so?” The Extremely Evil Evil Demon sniffed and immediately became interested.

We walked into the tavern, and after the owner Zhao Chunpei saw me, he hastened to greet me warmly.

“Sect Leader, you’re here!” Zhao Chunpei said with a smile, then his gaze fell on the extremely evil evil demon behind me.

“This is ……” Zhao Chunpei looked at the Extremely Evil Evil Demon, and a trace of doubt flashed in his eyes.

“This is my friend, Brother Evil Demon.” I introduced.

“Evil Demon Brother?” Zhao Chunpei’s face changed drastically when he heard this, and a look of horror filled his eyes.

“It seems that you really do know me.” The Extremely Evil Evil Demon looked at Zhao Chunpei and said in a playful tone.

“I …… I ……” Zhao Chunpei was so scared and incoherent that he didn’t know what to say.

“Boss Zhao, there’s no need to be nervous, Brother Evil Demon is just here for dinner today and won’t harm you.” I smiled and comforted.

“Yes …… yes ……” Zhao Chunpei replied warily, but his eyes were still filled with fear.

“It seems that my reputation, is really ‘loud’.” The Extremely Evil Evil Demon laughed to himself.

“Brother Evil Demon, have you ever come to a place like this to eat before?” I asked.

“Came once.” The Extremely Evil Evil Demon replied.

    “With whom?” I pursued.

The Extremely Evil Evil Demon was silent.

I knew that he was reminiscing, remembering the past that he had deliberately dusted off.

That was before he became an “evil demon”, eating wontons at a roadside stand with his father.

At that time, he was still an innocent child, with no killing in his eyes, no hatred, and only a longing for the future.

All of this, however, was completely changed with the appearance of his master.

“Brother Evil Demon, do you really think that people are born evil?” I looked at the Extremely Evil Evil Demon and asked in a serious tone.

“Isn’t it?” The Extremely Evil Evil Demon asked rhetorically, “In this world, filled with killing and betrayal, human nature is inherently evil, isn’t this an obvious fact?”

“I don’t think so,” I shook my head, “I believe that human nature is inherently good, it’s just acquired circumstances that turn them evil.”

“You are too naive.” The Extremely Evil Evil Demon snorted coldly, “Do you think that you can change this world?”

“I don’t know,” I said in a firm tone as I looked at the Ultimate Evil Demon, “but I’ll do my best to try.”

At that moment, Zhao Chunpei came over with the wine and food, carefully placing them on the table.

“Sect Master, Evil Demon Brother, please enjoy your meal.” After Zhao Chunpei finished speaking, he left as if he had fled.

I picked up my chopsticks, picked up a piece of meat, put it in my mouth and savored it.

“Brother Evil, aren’t you going to eat?” I asked.

“I’m wearing a mask, how can I eat?” The Extremely Evil Evil Demon asked rhetorically.

“You could just lift your mask up and eat from underneath.” I said with a smile.

“That would be too ugly.” The Extremely Evil Evil Demon shook his head and rejected my proposal.

“Okay then.” I shrugged and continued eating.

The Extremely Evil Evil Demon sat across from me and quietly watched me eat.

“Don’t you get bored wearing your mask all the time?” I asked.

“Boring? I got used to it a long time ago.” The Extremely Evil Evil Demon said indifferently.

“Don’t you want to, like, show your true colors?” I asked.

“Why show your true colors?” The Extremely Evil Evil Demon asked rhetorically, “The mask, my protective color, is also my weapon. Only by wearing the mask can I do what I want to do without fear.”

“Do you really think that wearing a mask is an escape from reality?” I asked.

“Escaping reality?” The Extremely Evil Evil Demon snorted coldly, “I’ve never escaped reality, I’m just living in this world on my own terms.”

“Is it your way to kill and destroy?” I asked.

“That’s right.” The Extremely Evil Evil Demon replied without hesitation.

“Haven’t you ever thought about how much pain your killing causes others?” I asked.

“Misery? That’s a sign of their weakness.” The Extremely Evil Evil Demon said coldly, “Only the strong are qualified to survive.”

“You’re wrong,” I shook my head, “A truly strong man doesn’t prove himself by killing, but by guarding.”

“Guardian?” The Extremely Evil Evil Demon snorted coldly, “Do you think that, in this world, there is really anything worth guarding?”

“Of course there is,” I said in a firm tone as I looked at the Extremely Evil Evil Demon, “Family, friendship, love, these are all things worth guarding with our lives.”

“What you said, is too childish.” The Extremely Evil Evil Demon shook his head, “All of these things, they are all illusory and not worth cherishing at all.”

“You’re wrong,” I retorted again, “These things, though unseen and untouchable, are real in our hearts. They are what keep us alive, and they are the only solace we have, in this world.”

The Extremely Evil Evil Demon was silent.

I knew that my words had struck a chord deep within him.

Though his mouth said he didn’t believe it, his eyes, however, had betrayed him.

“Why are you telling me this?” The Extremely Evil Evil Demon asked.

“Because, I want you to realize that there are more important things in this world than killing.” I replied.

“Do you think that you can change me?” The Extremely Evil Evil Demon asked.

“I don’t know,” I shook my head, “but I hope that you can give yourself a chance.”

“Chance?” The Extremely Evil Evil Demon snorted coldly, “I no longer have a chance.”

“No, you still have a chance,” I said in a firm tone as I looked at the Ultimate Evil Demon, “You can start over whenever you want.”

The Extremely Evil Evil Demon was silent once again.

I knew that my words had planted a seed of hope, in his heart.

“Brother Evil Demon, I’m full, let’s go.” I stood up and said to the Extremely Evil Evil Demon.

“Good.” The Extremely Evil Evil Demon nodded and followed me out of the tavern.

As we walked side by side through the streets of the Devil’s Family Village, looking at the bustling crowds and listening to the joyous and evil voices, a hint of an expression that had never been seen before appeared on the face of the Extremely Evil Evil Demon.

It was a daze, a confusion, a longing.

I knew that inside, he was changing.

“Brother Evil, have you ever thought about taking off your mask and starting your life over?” I asked.

“Take off the mask?” The Extremely Evil Evil Demon shook his head, “I’ve been wearing it for too long, I can’t take it off anymore.”

“No, you can take it off,” I said in a firm tone as I looked at the Ultimate Evil Demon, “You can take it off anytime you want.”

“Do you really think so?” The Extremely Evil Evil Demon asked.

    “I’m sure.” I nodded.

The Extremely Evil Evil Demon was silent.

I know that he is hesitating, struggling.

“Brother Evil, are you afraid?” I asked.

“Afraid?” The Extremely Evil Evil Demon let out a cold and evil cry, “I’m not afraid of anything.”

“You’re afraid to face your true self.” I looked him straight in the eyes and said, word for word.

The body of the Extremely Evil Evil Demon trembled slightly.

I know, I hit the nail on the head.

The reason why he keeps wearing a mask is because he is afraid to face his true self, the one who was once innocent but has been twisted into a demon by reality.

“You’re wrong,” the Extremely Evil Evil Demon shook his head, “I just don’t want to, let others see my weakness.”

“Weak?” I smiled, “Admitting your weakness is not a shameful thing. On the contrary, it is a sign of bravery.”

“Brave?” The Extremely Evil Evil Demon snorted coldly, “Do you think that being brave means being fearless?”

“No,” I shook my head, “true bravery is daring to face your heart, to admit your mistakes, to change your life.”

The Extremely Evil Evil Demon was silent once again.

I knew that my words had, in his mind, sent shock waves.

“Brother Evil Demon, would you be willing, to give me a chance?” I asked.

“Chance?” The Extremely Evil Evil Demon asked in disbelief.

“A chance for you to start over, a chance for you to become a true friend.” I looked at the Extremely Evil Evil Demon and said in a sincere tone.

The Evil Demon of Extreme Evil slowly raised his right hand and placed it on the mask.

    His fingers, trembling slightly.

I knew that he was making a choice, a choice that would change his life.
