    Chapter Index

Two days later, Sect Leader Feng Tian brought his people and left the Heavenly Demon Sect.

He didn’t say goodbye to the eight demonic fathers, and only exchanged a few brief pleasantries with my father, briefly.

The congregation murmured about his sudden departure, all believing that he was disgruntled and left in anger because of the theft of his treasures.

We, alone, know the real reason why he left.

“The Sect Master has an impatient temperament, so I think he will return soon after handling the affairs of the Windy Sky Sect.” I looked at Lone Moon and said.

Regarding the successor of the Wind and Sky Sect, as well as the internal transfer of power, we have long since deliberated.

“Thank you, Young Lord, for accepting my first offer.” Lone Moon looked at me and said gratefully.

“It should be me who thanks you.” I smiled and said, “Thanks to you, I got Sect Leader Windy Sky, this strong aid.”

“As you can see, he neglected his cultivation and indulged in hedonism, his figure has gone out of shape.” Lonely Moon looked at me and said, “When he comes back, you will have to urge him to cultivate.”

“It’s better for you to do this kind of thing.” I said with a smile, “Who dares to meddle in the Seychelle Overlord’s business?”

“Subordinate understands.” Lonely Moon nodded and said.

In my heart, I am filled with a sense of accomplishment.

Not only did I get Lonely Moon, the resourceful military advisor, but I also got Sect Leader Windy Sky, a powerful ally.

Windy Sky Sect Master, although this time in the Heavenly Devil Sect, suffered a lot, but he is after all the overlord of the martial arts in the Seychelles, his strength should not be underestimated.

There were too many variables in a battle between masters, and no one could guarantee that they would definitely win.

I believe that not a single one of the Eight Devil Sovereigns would dare to say that he or she has absolute certainty of being able to defeat Sect Leader Windsky.

“Lone Moon.” I said, looking at Lone Moon.

“Subordinate is in.” Lone Moon responded respectfully.

“I know that, as a military advisor, you, need to always keep an eye on others and advise them.” I looked at Lonely Moon and said, “But, you also need to, remember, to take care of yourself.”

I didn’t say, directly, that I wanted him to focus on his heart, but that I wanted him to take care of himself.

I’m sure, with Lonely Moon’s intelligence, she’ll be able to understand, what I mean.

“Young Lord, you are truly a, considerate person.” Lone Moon looked at me and said with a smile.

“A lot of people, say that.” I smiled, “Maybe I’m just, good at pretending.”

Lonely Moon, looking at me, didn’t say anything, but he, didn’t believe, my words.

“I will make up for the, weaknesses, that your, goodness, has brought about.” He looked at me and said in a firm tone.

“Take your time, there’s no rush.” I said with a smile.

“Yes.” Lonely Moon nodded and said.

“I, am going to see, the others.” I looked at Lone Moon, and said, “All this time, for you, I’ve, gone cold, on them.”

“You, go ahead.” Lonely Moon said with a nod.

I turned away, my heart, filled with warmth.

I, am going to see, those, friends of mine, those, brothers of mine.

I went to the practice field, where my father, was, alone, studying a game of chess.

I knew that he liked to play chess, but had never seen him, actually play.

“Father, you play chess too?” I asked curiously.

“In this Heavenly Demon Sect, there are only a handful of people who can win against me.” Father said without lifting his head, his tone filled with confidence.

“Are you talking about chess?” I asked.

“Of course.” Father said with a nod.

“You wouldn’t be threatening your opponents by wiping your neck with a hand knife when the game is not going your way, would you?” I asked with a smile, “And then? Uncle then suddenly appeared from behind his opponent and finished him off with a knife?”

“Occasionally, yes.” Father chuckled, “After all, I don’t like to lose.”

I smiled and shook my head, walking over to my father and looking at the board.

My father’s chess game, I know, was not very good.

The reason he could win so many people was because, no one, dared to win him.

This is, the Heavenly Devil Sect’s, majesty!

“This is the puzzle that Szema’s military advisor gave me, and I can’t figure out how to break it.” Father looked at me and said.

It’s a, uh, very complicated stump.

I watched the game carefully, and then, pointing to a spot on the board, said, “Father, look, if you drop a piece here, won’t the white pieces live?”

My father followed my instructions, dropped a piece, and then, scrutinized the game.

“Not bad, not bad.” He nodded and said, “Your chess skills, they’re pretty good.”

    “I’m just a spectator, that’s all.” I said with a smile.

“A spectator?” My father asked, looking at me, “I’m studying the game of chess all by myself, too.”

“You’re surrounded by your pride, your good nature, and they’re all watching you and stressing you out.” I said with a smile.

    Father sniffed and laughed.

“You kid, you’re really articulate!” He chuckled.

He stood up, walked over to the board, and sat down.

“Come on, play a game with me.” He looked at me and said.

“Good.” I nodded and said, “But you can’t wipe your neck with a hand knife again.”

I took a seat across from my father.

    We started playing chess.

It was, for the first time, a game of chess with my father.

Before, I was always afraid of him, in awe of him, afraid to go near him.

Now, I can finally play chess, talk and eat with him like a normal son.

It was a kind of, never-before-seen, happiness.

Instead of being deliberately humble, I went all out and played against my father.

    I know, he’s a competitive person.

If I lose to him on purpose, he’ll be upset instead.

The game was going very well.

We went back and forth, not giving in to each other.

My father’s style of chess was harsh and dominating, just like his character.

My chess style, on the other hand, is much more flexible and versatile, just like my personality.

As the game entered the middle game, I gradually gained the upper hand.

    The father’s brow, gradually, furrowed.

He began to think hard about it.

I didn’t bother him, just waited quietly.

I knew that he would find a way to break it.

He’s the head of the Heavenly Devil Sect, he’s my father, and he’s the most powerful man of all!

    He won’t admit defeat easily!

This time, however, he was wrong.

    I’ve surpassed him in chess.

With my layout, I’ve cornered him.

There was nothing more he could do!

“Your chess skills, they’ve improved a lot.” He looked at me and said, with a hint of …… despondency in his tone that he himself did not notice?

“Thank you father for the compliment.” I said with a smile, “I’ll try harder in the future.”

“One more game!” He looked at me and said, with a hint of …… resentment in his tone that he himself didn’t even notice?

“Father, you’re tired, let’s go down another day.” I said with a smile.

“I’m not tired!” He shook his head and said, “One more round!”

    “Father ……”

I was about to say something else, but my father interrupted me.

“Are you afraid?” He looked at me and asked, with a hint of …… provocation in his tone that he didn’t even notice himself?

“How could I be afraid of you?” I smiled, “I’m just worried about your health.”

“I’m in great shape!” He shook his head and said, “One more round!”

“Okay.” I said with a nod.

    We started playing chess again.

This time, I showed no mercy.

    I used all my strength.

I’m going to show him that I’m no longer that child at his mercy!

    I’ve grown up!
