Chapter 0068 – By When Will It End – Absolute Returns
by GreatBrother(위대한 다오 형제)“The Soul Regenerating Demonfather has a total of five disciples, of which, in terms of age and cultivation, the ones most likely to inherit his mantle are the eldest disciple, Liang Gui, and the third disciple, Qing Xian. Qing Xian, is a woman.” Xi Da Long reported.
“What’s their reputation in the West Rim?” I asked.
“Guide Liang is a bit older and has more experience and cultivation, but Qing Xian is more popular in West Ring Town. She’s young and beautiful, while Guide Liang has a violent personality, and there have already been quite a few Ghost Magicians who have been injured by him, and some have even lost their lives as a result. Although the Soul Regenerating Demonfather, when he was alive, held Liang Guide in higher regard, nowadays, the situation is different.” Xi Da Long explained.
“I want you to investigate these two people in detail, including their martial arts, possessions, abilities, hobbies, relationships, everything.” I commanded.
“As you command.” Xi Da Long led the order and left.
“Who do you think Sect Leader Windy Sky will choose?” I asked.
Xidalong’s eyes widened as he sniffed.
“Is Sect Leader Feng Tian also going to meddle in the Western Ring Town’s heir battle?”
“That’s right, that’s why I asked him to investigate the disciples of the Soul Regenerating Demon Lord.” I explained.
“Why?” Xi Da Long was even more puzzled.
“Because I asked him to intervene in the battle for the heir to the West Rim.” I said lightly.
Xi Da Long suddenly came to a realization, and then he was so alarmed that he hurriedly transmitted his voice to ask:
“Are you going to kill again? Are you going to kill Sect Leader Feng Tian? Or Guide Liang? Or the Green Fairy?”
“It’s not like I’m a homicidal maniac, so how can I kill everyone I see?” I transmitted my voice helplessly.
Xi Da Long then put his heart down.
“It seems that I am now a murderous maniac in everyone’s eyes.” I laughed to myself.
“Who else is worried about you killing people? Master, his old man?” Xi Da Long asked.
“Master?”
“Ah! I mean, Lord Blood Heavenly Dao Demon.” Xi Daolong hurriedly explained.
“You haven’t officially worshiped him yet, have you?” I asked.
“No, he hasn’t said yes yet.” Xi Da Long said.
It seemed that he had already taken the Blood Heavenly Dao Demon as his master. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have blurted out that he was his “Master”.
I can feel that Xi Dalong is gradually being attracted to Blood Heavenly Dao Demon. Thinking about it, I’m afraid that the Blood Heavenly Dao Demon’s appearance of being well-read would have charmed him long ago.
“Who do you think Sect Leader Windy Sky will choose?” I asked again.
“How would I know?” Xi Da Long said helplessly.
“You’re the one who’s gifted and successful in school, and if you don’t know about it, then I know even less.” I said with a smile.
“I merely studied hard and got good grades on the exams, I’m not much of a genius.” Xi Da Long said modestly.
“Aren’t you a genius?” I asked rhetorically.
“That’s what you said.” Xi Da Long said.
“Didn’t you nod your head smugly then?” I chuckled.
“Well, I admit that I, for one, do have some vanity. You can consider me a down-to-earth, hard-working person. I will seriously investigate those two people.” Xi Da Long said.
He saluted me and turned to leave the study.
“Who do you think we should support?” Ling Paisu asked.
The man in shackles, however, just stared at the Sonic Thunder Bell without saying a word.
“What are you always staring at that bell for? Could it be that the evil spirits on that bell can’t talk to you?” Ling Paisu asked.
The man suddenly said, “How did you know?”
“You scare me?” Ling Paisu said without a trace of humor.
“It talks to me occasionally.” The man said.
“What did it say to you?” Ling Paisu asked curiously.
The man looked at the evil spirit on the clock and said, “It asks me, why do you live this life?”
In the room, a silence fell.
“And how do you answer?” Ling Paisu asked.
“I used to tell it that it was because of a narrow-minded, insatiable person that I ended up in this situation.” The man said.
“What about now?” Ling Paisu asked.
“I think now that maybe …… it wasn’t all that guy’s fault.” The man said.
“And what did it say?” Ling Paisu asked.
The man was silent. Ling Paisu pressed again before the man raised his head and looked at Ling Paisu with eyes like an idiot.
“What are you asking me for? It’s just a statue, how can it talk? Are you crazy?”
Ling Paisu cried and laughed, “It’s weird enough that I’m not crazy yet. One day, I will sit in your place and chat with that evil ghost statue. I’ll ask it why you’re enduring this humiliation. It will surely say, because it witnessed it with its own eyes!”
“We should support the Green Fairy.” The man suddenly said.
“You’re scaring me to death! Can you say hello before you speak?” Ling Paisu complained.
Although this man was always a godsend, he was always able to give answers at crucial moments, which was why Ling Paisu valued him so much.
“Why Green Fairy? I think it’s more likely that Guide Liang will become the heir to the Soul Regenerating Demon.” Ling Paisu asked in disbelief.
“Just go support Director Liang then.” The man said indifferently before shutting his mouth.
Ling Paisu walked up to him and asked, “Why do you think that we should support Qing Xian?”
“You can support whoever you like, you are the Windy Sky Sect Master, do you still have to listen to me in everything?” The man asked rhetorically.
“Good, I’ll support the Green Fairy.” Ling Paisu said.
He chose to trust that man without hesitation. In all these years, that man had never let him down.
“What do you think, how can I take Qing Xian as my disciple?” Ling Paisu asked.
“How do I know?” The man asked rhetorically.
“You don’t even know, so what should I do?” Ling Paisu said helplessly.
“How could I possibly know these things when I’m all locked up in here with you?” The man asked rhetorically.
“That’s right too.” Ling Paisu nodded.
But he didn’t say anything about unshackling the man. For so many years, they had talked about everything, but this was the only thing that Ling Paisu had never mentioned.
He knew that if he unshackled him, the man would leave him without hesitation. Who would want to stay by the side of someone, who had imprisoned them? Once the shackles were unlocked, the friendship between them would come to an end. Therefore, untying the shackles was Ling Paisu’s taboo.
“I’ll go talk to the Green Fairy?” Ling Paisu asked.
“What did you go and tell her?” The man asked.
“I will make her worship me. Isn’t that too strong a statement? I should say that I will allow her to worship me. What do you think?” Ling Paisu asked.
“Do you think she’ll say yes?” The man asked rhetorically.
“Of course not.” Ling Paisu said.
“The same goes for everyone else, you can’t get what you want without paying any price.” The man said.
“Are you saying that I should give her the benefit of the doubt?” Ling Paisu asked.
The man nodded.
“I will take her as my disciple and teach her martial arts, isn’t that enough? And you want me to give her favors?” Ling Paisu said with dissatisfaction.
“You’re so outdated in your thinking. Whoever wants it more should pay the price.” The man said.
“I don’t want to give anymore, I just want to get now. I was born to take, not to give! Let her bring her gifts and beg me! Let her kneel in my courtyard and beg me, bitterly, to accept her as my disciple!” Ling Paisu exclaimed.
Though the man had cost him everything, he couldn’t give it up.
“If you really want to pay the price, the object, shouldn’t have chosen the Green Fairy.” The man said.
“Who should I choose then?” Ling Paisu asked.
