    Chapter Index

“I hate conformity. Young people these days, all the time.” I said with a smile.

“It seems that I’m really old.” Ling Paisu sighed.

“Get in touch with young people more often, keep an open mind, and you will find that the world is full of vigor. Lord Blood Heavenly Dao Demon, he’s gotten a lot younger recently.” I said with a smile.

“Yeah? Hahaha ……” Ling Paisu laughed openly.

As I poured him a drink, I said, “It seems the rumors were wrong.”

    “What rumors?” Ling Paisu asked.

“I’ve heard that Sect Leader Ling never leaves his body and doesn’t move an inch from his artifacts, so why is it that lately you’re always seen walking around?” I asked.

Whether it was coming to my place last time or showing up at the restaurant today, Ling Paisu has gone against her principles.

“Perhaps it’s because, I trust the Heavenly Demon God Sect’s Sectmaster more.” Ling Paisu said with a smile.

He meant what he said because he trusted my father. Although he spoke in a relaxed tone, I’m afraid he meant what he said. At the very least, he believed that my father would not let him lose his divine artifact in the territory of the Heavenly Demon God Sect.

I smiled, picked up my chopsticks, and said, “Let’s eat.”

I originally thought that a person of Ling Paisu’s status would definitely not be used to eating this kind of crude tea, but I didn’t expect that he would actually eat the rice in the bowl, cleanly. It seems that he is not as preoccupied as I thought he was.

“It tastes good.” Ling Paisu said.

“As you like.” I said with a smile.

After the meal, instead of continuing to drink, we drank tea. Ling Paisu didn’t like to drink during meals, moreover, he was used to drinking tea after meals.

“Have you practiced the ‘Time and Space Shifting Technique’?” Ling Paisu asked.

    “Practiced.” I replied.

“The first time you cultivate, most of them will fail, there’s no need to take it to heart.” Ling Paisu comforted.

He thought that I hadn’t created an independent space yet. After all, the first time I cultivated, even if it was fast, it would still take several days. The fact that I’m still sitting here means that I must have failed.

    “I’ve made it.” I said.

“What?” Ling Paisu was stunned when she heard this.

“That space, it’s truly marvelous. I’m afraid I’m going to be addicted to this technique from now on.” I said with a smile.

    Ling Paisu was dumbstruck.

“You can already perform this technique?” He asked incredulously.

    “Yes.” I affirmed.

“How long did it take you?” Ling Paisu pursued.

    “About two hours.” I replied.

Ling Paisu instantly exclaimed in shock.

    “Really?”

He was full of skepticism and obviously didn’t believe me.

“Maybe I’m just gifted.” I said with a smile.

“Honestly, I find it hard to believe.” Ling Paisu said.

“Why would I lie to you?” I asked rhetorically.

“Unless you are a one in a million martial arts prodigy …… No, even if you are a martial arts prodigy, it’s impossible to create an independent space in just two hours!” Ling Paisu said.

I didn’t explain any further, just picked up my teacup and took a gentle sip.

“What you said, is it all true?” Ling Paisu asked again.

    I nodded.

“Can you show me?” Ling Paisu asked.

In his position, he should not have been so aggressive. But I understood his feelings and agreed readily.

    “Sure.” I said.

“Thanks a lot.” Ling Paisu said.

He couldn’t wait to pick up his teacup and drink the tea, which was already cold, in one gulp.

I waited for him to calm down before I asked, “What exactly is the purpose of Sect Leader Ling’s visit today?”

“I’d like to ask you a favor.” Ling Paisu said.

    “Go ahead.” I said.

“The Devil Buddha wants to drive me back to the Seaside.” Ling Paisu said.

    “Why?” I asked.

“Because he was worried that we would join forces.” Ling Paisu explained, “So, I need a reason to remain in the Central Plains.”

I said in my heart, “I’m afraid he came to me for more than just this reason. How does he know that I will be able to help him find a reason? He just wants to find an excuse to get close to me.”

“Then what favor does Sect Leader Ling intend to give me?” I asked.

“Why are you and I so angry with each other?” Ling Paisu said.

“Between us, there is no friendship. We’ve only done business once.” I said unflinchingly.

I had to be smart and capable in order to take the initiative in the deal with him. The reason why I told him that I could perform the “Time Shift Technique” within two hours was to make him believe in me and trust my ability.

“What do you want?” Ling Paisu asked.

“Can I choose any of the artifacts you brought?” I asked.

Ling Paisu’s face changed when she heard this.

    “Are you crazy?”

I calmly asked back, “Isn’t it crazier than Sect Leader Ling, thinking of marching into the Central Plains in such a chaotic situation?”

I followed Ling Paisu and came to his place.

He agreed to my terms. As I expected, he wanted to ally himself with me, even at any cost.

Why is he so eager to ally himself with me? In his mind, some kind of change must have occurred.

In the room, the man in shackles was looking at the sonic thunder bell with his back to us.

I used to think about saving him from himself. I thought that I would never see him again in this life, but I never thought that we would be reunited in this way.

“Who is he?” I asked knowingly.

I noticed that the way Ling Paisu looked at the man was not the way she treated her subordinates or slaves.

The man also turned a blind eye to Ling Paisu’s arrival and didn’t get up to salute.

I was even more convinced that the relationship between them was not an ordinary up-and-down relationship.

“He is in charge of guarding the Sonic Thunder Bell.” Ling Paisu said.

    “So it is.” I nodded.

Ling Paisu’s gaze, swept over the divine artifacts in the room, and said in a low voice, “Other than the Sonic Thunder Clock and the Blood Buddha, you can take your pick of all the other divine artifacts.”

“I see. Is this the legendary Sonic Thunder Bell?” I pretended to be seeing the Sonic Thunder Bell for the first time and walked towards it.

In my previous life, the scene where I got the Sonic Thunder Bell surfaced in my mind. The evil spirits on the bell seemed to be taunting me, “Why is it you again?”

“How does it feel to see the Sonic Thunder Bell with your own eyes?” Ling Paisu asked.

    “It’s breathtaking.” I said.

As I spoke, I surreptitiously eyed the man in shackles. As a matter of fact, I was more interested in him than in the Sonic Thunder Bell. The reason I came this way was to find an excuse to observe him up close.

The man had originally lowered his head, and when he heard my voice, he raised his head and stole a glance at me. I met his gaze, and his eyes, clear and bright, were much younger than I had imagined.

He quickly lowered his head. It was a brief glimpse, but it was unforgettable.

    “Okay, pick.” Ling Paisu said.

    “Okay.”

I slowly walked over to the shelves where the artifacts were placed and carefully observed them. In fact, I already knew these artifacts like the back of my hand.

I selected an artifact and said, “I’ll take this one.”

Ling Paisu’s face changed when she heard this.

Just then, I noticed that Ling Paisu opened her mouth as if she wanted to refuse, but then suddenly closed it.

In my heart, I immediately realized that this divine artifact I had chosen was extraordinary.

“That man in shackles must have sent a message to Ling Paisu!”
