    Chapter Index

Of course, Ling Paisu was not masochistic, and the reason why he tolerated the man’s rudeness was not because he possessed an extraordinary sense of smell.

Ling Paisu had left him alive because he possessed wisdom beyond the ordinary.

At first, Ling Paisu didn’t realize that the man was so smart.

But as time went by, Ling Paisu gradually discovered his superiority. His talent was not reflected in his sense of smell, but in his keen judgment and superior intelligence.

Ever since Ling Paisu realized that the man’s intelligence, surprisingly, far exceeded that of the Windy Sky Sect’s military division, he had become the true military division of the Windy Sky Sect.

Ling Paisu willingly endured his verbal abuse just to listen to his advice. His advice, which was often spot on and always verified later.

Ling Paisu never wanted to torture him into submission. Because he knew that the man’s heart had long been as good as dead, and if he pushed too hard, he would rather die.

Although this man had long been tired of the world, he had never thought of ending himself. Ling Paisu had once asked him why, but he had always kept his mouth shut and was unwilling to reveal a word.

“Why are you in a bad mood today?” The man asked.

“Would you be in a good mood in your place?” Ling Paisu asked rhetorically.

Ling Paisu stretched out a fourth finger, the man saw this, took the shackles in his hands, and shook them up with force, the sound of metal clashing, echoing in the room.

Ling Paisu gently snapped her fingers, and their surroundings were suddenly plunged into darkness, followed by a bright flash of light, and they had arrived on top of a verdant grassland.

Ling Paisu unlocked the ten thousand year old cold iron shackles on the man. The key to unlock the shackles was hanging around Ling Paisu’s neck.

The shackles came off, and the man’s face, too, showed a long-lost smile.

Regaining his freedom, like a puppy in the snow, he excitedly ran and jumped across the grassland, and finally lay down on his back, looking up at the sky and letting out a soothing groan.

Ling Paisu walked up to him and looked at him condescendingly.

“Get out of my way, you big-headed, thick-necked fellow, you’re blocking my view!” The man shouted in dissatisfaction.

“This is just an illusion.” Ling Paisu said indifferently.

Ling Paisu held out a fifth finger.

When the five chances were exhausted, the man’s tone, at once, became respectful.

“My Lord Godfather, I miss this false sky so much, please make way.”

His attitude changed so quickly that it was as if he was acting.

Ling Paisu sidestepped out of the way and asked, “I’ve already followed your advice and showed goodwill to Mr. Li, but he doesn’t seem to be satisfied and wants more favors.”

The man looked at the sky, his eyes clear.

“Will Mr. Li really become the successor of the Heavenly Demon God Sect?” He muttered.

“Didn’t you say that Mr. Li killed the Soul Regenerating Demon?” Ling Paisu asked.

“I’m sure.” The man said with certainty, “Other than him, who else could become the successor of the Heavenly Demon God Sect? How could a young man of only twenty years old possess the strength to kill a Soul Regenerating Demon?”

“His strength is indeed strong ……,” Ling Paisu said in a complicated tone.

“Are you afraid? Afraid that Mr. Li will one day kill you as well?” The man asked.

If it were someone else who dared to say these words, I’m afraid that they would have already been killed. However, Ling Paisu only nodded silently.

“It would be a lie to say that I’m not afraid. Someone who can even kill a Demon Elder, what else can’t he do?” Ling Paisu said frankly.

I don’t know when, but Ling Paisu had gotten used to talking to this man in a heart-to-heart manner.

“We have another reason why we must pull in Mr. Li.” The man suddenly said.

    “What reason?” Ling Paisu asked.

“Do you think that Heavenly Demon Sword Wuji really doesn’t know that it was Mr. Li who killed the Soul Regenerating Demon?” The man asked rhetorically.

“You mean, he knows?” Ling Paisu asked in surprise.

“Of course he knows.” The man said with certainty, “Jian Wuji is not an ordinary person, he has a big heart and is by no means a pool animal. Why do you think, he would ignore this matter?”

“Why?” Ling Paisu asked in disbelief.

“Use your head, don’t just eat!” The man said without a trace of humor.

“Did you just scold me?” Ling Paisu asked.

“No, I was just being loud.” The man sophomorized.

“You’d better be careful.” Ling Paisu warned.

“I know, I’m just trying to get you to use your brain.” The man said.

“I’m too lazy to use my brain, so for this kind of thing, it’s better to leave it to you. If I have to do everything myself, then what else do I need you for?” Ling Paisu said indifferently.

The man glared disgruntledly at Ling Paisu, but his tone remained respectful: “A person with great ambitions who remains silent must be brewing some big move.”

“Could it be that he wants to unify the martial arts in the Central Plains?” Ling Paisu guessed.

“That I don’t know.” The man shook his head and said, “But one thing is for sure, this matter was either instructed by the Heavenly Demon Sword Wuji, or he acquiesced. The Soul Regenerating Demon is the one of the Eight Demon Generals who is most scorned by the Martial Alliance, just as the martial artists of the Central Plains are scorned by you. But the fact that he would allow his own son to kill the Soul Regenerating Demon General meant that he had already begun the process of removing the dissidents and was preparing to replace all of the Eight Demon Generals with his own people. After he controls the Eight Demon Generals, who do you think he’ll go after?”

“We?” Ling Paisu asked as her face changed.

“Jian Wuji will never let us stay in his rear and become a threat to him. He will either let us charge into battle, or he will get rid of us first before starting a war.” The man analyzed.

“Damn it!” Ling Paisu couldn’t help but curse.

“The Heavenly Demon Divine Sect has already begun to change, if we still can’t see the situation, then we will only die. The Soul Regenerating Demon is the reason why he was assassinated because he hid in his own little world all day and didn’t ask about the world. We only have two choices now, either hide behind the wall of the Eight Devil Generals and live on, or defect to the Heavenly Devil and seek refuge.” The man said.

“You mean we should defect to the Heavenly Devil?” Ling Paisu asked.

“The Heavenly Devil will win.” The man said with certainty.

    “Why?” Ling Paisu asked.

“Jian Wuji is not a reckless man, since he dares to start this war, he must have the certainty of victory.” The man explained, “Therefore, we must defect to Mr. Li as soon as possible and find a way to please him and gain his trust.”

Ling Paisu nodded and asked, “What gift should we give him?”

“Just give away what you can least afford to give up, it’s the only way we’ll survive.” The man said, “Well, that’s the end of my advice.”

He lay down on the ground, looked up at the false sky, and shouted, “Stop bothering me and get out of here!”

Only in this unreal space could he feel truly free.

    “Ahhhhhhhhh ……”

He let out a roar, venting his depression.

Ling Paisu, however, stood with her hands behind her back, deep in thought.

After a moment, Ling Paisu finally made a decision and said to the man, “Time’s up, let’s go back.”

The illusory space began to collapse.

When the man saw this, he panicked and hurriedly got up from the ground, shouting, “No! Please, just let me stay a little longer! You fucking asshole! I haven’t had enough fun yet!”

His pleas, however, were to no avail. The verdant meadows, the false sky, and his brief moment of freedom all vanished without a trace as space collapsed.
