    Chapter Index

    “Hahahahaha!”

My father’s maniacal laughter rang through the Great Hall, deafening.

“Is killing someone such a cause for joy?” I asked, suppressing my anger.

My father’s laughter ended abruptly, and he said in a firm tone, “The Demon Monarch can be killed, but the Blood Heavenly Blade Demon, it’s not even close.”

That means it’s too early to kill him.

“If that’s the case, why did you allow me to clash head-on with the Blood Heavenly Blade Demon? You are responsible for this!” I questioned indignantly.

“Okay, I’m in charge.” The father’s answer was dry and as irresponsible as ever.

“I appoint you Master of the Yellow Springs Pavilion.”

I froze, never expecting that he would send me to Yellow Springs Corner.

“Is this feasible?” I asked incredulously, even though I knew that nothing was impossible as long as it was the will of the Heavenly Devil.

“Isn’t it feasible that a mere Shogun could kill the Demon Monarch?” Father asked rhetorically.

With that out of the way, I suddenly realized that perhaps my father had intended for me to take over Yellow Springs Corner from the beginning.

“Haven’t you always wanted to straighten things out there?” Father said meaningfully.

Instead, I heard the subtext: give you the knife to kill and make a scene.

To put it more bluntly, I was made to be his shield and scapegoat.

As a Heavenly Devil, my father naturally has many scruples and is not in a position to personally take action. But it’s different for me, the youngest son of a Heavenly Demon who is not afraid of anything.

”Could it be that he wants to use me to solve those things he’s always wanted to do but couldn’t do because of his status? Does he not care whether I live or die?’ I had mixed feelings in my mind.

Was it callousness, or was it out of a test for the future heir? I have no way of knowing. But I would caution myself against being emotional.

As my father once taught me:

–The human heart is the hardest thing to guess.

Instead of trying to guess, focus on what you see and hear in front of you. Judge a person not by guessing what is in his mind, but by what he does.

Fathers have always been such men, leaving their expectations of their children on the wall on one side, and pushing them into harm’s way for the sake of profit on the other.

Perhaps it’s easier to have a father like that instead. I work for him, he gives me what I want, and that’s it.

“Since you want me to kill a cow, you have to give me a knife, right?” I said bluntly.

“What do you want?” Father asked.

I didn’t hesitate to name a place that was one of the places I planned to visit upon my return:

“I want to enter the Heavenly Demon Book Pavilion.”

The Heavenly Devil Book Pavilion was a place where countless precious martial arts secrets were collected, and only the Heavenly Devils and a very few people who had been given permission could enter.

“What do you want to enter the Heavenly Demon Book Pavilion for?” A trace of doubt surfaced on his father’s face.

“Don’t think that you’ll be able to practice supreme kung fu if you enter there, you’ll only waste your time flipping through secret books.” There was a hint of mockery in his father’s tone.

The Heavenly Demon Book Pavilion’s collection of books is as vast as a sea of smoke, even if I were lucky enough to find top-notch martial arts secrets, their grades would not be comparable to the Flying Sword Technique that I have learned.

The look in my father’s eyes seemed to say, “Do you think you can find anything better than that?”

“I’m just taking my chances.” I said lightly.

My father must have wondered what I was playing at.

He scrutinized me for a few moments and finally came to a decision:

“I don’t know what the hell you’re up to again ……”

He always likes to add unnecessary comments before reluctantly granting my request:

“I will allow you to stay in the Heavenly Demon Book Pavilion for seven days.”

Seven days is an exception for me, who is not yet an heir. It’s also enough to show how important the matter of the Yellow Springs Corner is to my father.

“Please don’t worry, within seven days, I will make the whole of this sect look new!” I said confidently.

Li An was excited to learn that I could enter the Heavenly Demon Book Pavilion.

“Young Master, when you enter the Heavenly Demon Book Pavilion, you must concentrate on practicing one martial art, don’t be greedy and chew too much. Also, be sure to eat on time, don’t skip meals to save time, that will affect your memory and the loss will outweigh the gain. By the way, the Book Pavilion is huge, you must not get lost ……”

I couldn’t help but feel a little guilty looking at the chattering Liam.

I remember Lee Ann as a quiet person.

Turns out, she can be so lively and talkative.

It was me, I was the one who made her into what she is now. At that time, I was full of ambition to become the heir apparent, and I only focused on looking up at the roof of the Heavenly Demon Hall, but neglected those around me who truly cared about me and helped me.

It was because of my indifference that she, who had been cheerful and talkative, became silent.

“Did you hear me?” Liam couldn’t help but ask when he saw me wandering off.

“I heard that, you said to concentrate on one martial art and to eat on time.” I said back, smiling.

“That’s good, you should rest early, I wish you all the best. Don’t forget, you’re not the heir yet, and it’s a godsend to be able to enter the Heavenly Demon Book Pavilion.” Li An once again admonished.

“My ears are getting calloused, they might have started bleeding already.” I exaggerated.

“Ah, I’m sorry, I’ll say less in the future.” Li An hurriedly apologized.

“No, I prefer you to be a little more lively than a silent guard.” I said with a smile.

“Then you must remember my words, and also, when you are looking for the secret book ……”

“Enough!” I just couldn’t help interrupting her.

In fact, Liam’s worries were completely superfluous.

Because I know exactly where the thing I’m looking for is in that vast pavilion of Heavenly Demon Books.

The reason why I wanted to enter the Heavenly Demon Book Pavilion was to look for the last ingredient of the Soul Recovery Technique, the Bima Soul.

In order to obtain the Bima Soul, I returned to the Heavenly Demon God Sect decades after the sealing of the mountain.

I purposely left deep scars on my face, making it impossible for people to recognize me. For a person who had died long ago, a traitor who had left his master’s school for decades, and with a completely different face, it was impossible for them to recognize me.

From an ordinary martial artist, I have climbed step by step to a position where I am able to meet with the new Sect Master alone. In this, I have put in unimaginable effort and time that is unimaginable to ordinary people.

It was in the year I got the Bima Soul that I overheard a martial art – the Four Steps of the Wind God.

The person who obtained the Four Steps of the Wind God was none other than Zhou Budao, the Sect Master of the Magic Sect at that time. In the decades following the sealing of the mountain, the position of the Sect Master changed hands several times, showing the chaotic situation within the Sect at that time.

I still vividly remember what he said to me while drunk:

“…… Thanks to me finding the long lost Four Steps of the Wind God, I was able to sit in the position of Sect Master.”

Wind God four steps, only four strokes, but is truly the world’s first lightweight.
