    Chapter Index

    “Bang! Bang! Bang!”

A member of the Demon Race couldn’t stand to watch and rushed up.

I sat on the high party and swung my sword with a backhand.

    “Pfft!”

The man covered his stomach and fell to the ground, blood gushing from his fingers.

No one expected that I would suddenly strike, everyone froze, including Xu Dalong and those Yellow Springs Pavilion investigators.

    “Crazy!”

    “Kill him!”

Two of the High Party’s inner circle rushed up with swords drawn.

The attack they launched in haste became the final blow of their lives.

I rose up and leapt, stabbing out with two consecutive swords. Their swords only left two shallow wounds on my body, while my sword, on the other hand, accurately pierced their throats.

    “Pfft! Pfft!”

Two columns of blood spurted out, and the two men fell to the ground dead.

Blood stained the ground, and the remaining members of the Demon Race looked at each other in disbelief, not knowing whether or not they should rush up.

I bellowed, “What they just did is treason!”

The word “rebellion” made them freeze in place.

After I shocked them, I walked over to the High Party.

“As a First Captain, you dare to assault a member of the Yellow Springs Pavilion who came to investigate by order of the Sect Master, a crime tantamount to treason!”

I looked at him condescendingly and said coldly. What happened to the families of those people you murdered in the tavern last year? You must not know, because you don’t care. They lost their fathers, they lost their children, they lost their husbands, are they doing well now? What qualifications do you have to beat up people? What qualifications do you have to kill our Heavenly Demon God Sect’s disciples?”

    “…… spare your life ……”

His face was covered in blood, but his eyes were filled with the desire for life.

    “Why should I spare you?”

    “…… I was wrong, I’ll never dare again ……”

He spat out a mouthful of blood and begged bitterly.

“You’re lying, you can’t change your nature in a river!”

    “No, I won’t, I promise!”

“I thought you said that. You’ll do it again.”

“…… When did I say that?”

“Your past life has told me that.”

I raised my right foot high and then dropped it down hard on his head.

    “Ka-ching!”

    “Pfft!”

His head burst open like a watermelon, killing him instantly.

The scene was dead silent, no one expected that I would kill the High Party so brutally, knowing that he was the Demon Monarch’s red man.

After I killed the Gao Party, I yelled at those Demon Race members, ”Those who plot against me will be killed without pardon! Do you guys still want to live? Don’t put down your weapons yet!”

A large group of Demon Race members have thrown down their weapons, their boss is already dead, if they resist any further, they will just die in vain. My strength also made them fearful.

“From now on, no one is allowed to take half a step away from here without my order! Those who disobey will be killed without pardon!”

At my command, they no longer dared to resist and obediently retreated.

Those Yellow Springs Pavilion Investigators were stunned as they looked at me dumbfounded, their eyes filled with admiration and excitement.

Xu Dalong said, “You are stronger than I thought.”

“What kind of person do you think I am?”

“I …… thought you couldn’t win against the First Captain of the Demon Army.”

    “Don’t we have a prophecy?”

I said half-jokingly, but Xu Dalong didn’t laugh. His expression was grave as he looked at the corpse on the ground.

“Is it really okay for you to do this?”

I said firmly, “Only a few people have died, and you’re afraid like this? I’ve come here this time, but I’m prepared for a big killing spree.”

    “!”

I saw for the first time, Xu Da Long’s eyes opened so wide.

That night, the Demon Monarch sent for me.

He didn’t wait for me in his office, but at a green house in Moga Village.

There were more than a dozen greenhouses in Mojia Village, although there were no explicit rules, but everyone was unspoken, and every level of official, had a fixed place to go. This green house where the devil monarch was located was the most luxurious green house in the entire Devil’s Gar Village.

“I wanted to have a drink with you, that’s why I asked you here.”

He acted as if nothing had happened, his tone more cordial than usual.

    “Have you been here before?”

    “First time.”

    “It’s nice here.”

This green house is indeed luxurious to the extreme, not only the dishes and wines are of the highest quality, even the singers are first-class beauties, and the musicians’ performances are even more heavenly.

    “It looks expensive.”

“This is the most expensive green house in Moga Village, and I prepared it especially for you today.”

He seems to be enjoying this life of paper and gold.

“Life’s too short to live in time, don’t you think?”

    “You’re right.”

    “Come on, drink.”

I accompanied him for a few drinks, he was light on his feet and obviously a regular here. He drank and sang at the same time, and even pulled a songstress to dance. He obviously called me here because of the high party, but he didn’t say a word about it.

I seldom went in and out of this kind of fling in my previous life, so I could only barely cope with it.

After three rounds of wine and five flavors of food, the Demon Monarch dismissed his left and right.

“I heard that you had some unpleasantness with my men?”

He deliberately downplayed the situation, obviously trying to trivialize the matter.

“Yes, there was some conflict between us.”

The killing of the Demon Army’s Grand Captain was a shocking event, enough to shake the entire Heavenly Demon Divine Sect, but the Demon Monarch wanted to suppress this matter.

“It’s better to do more than less, why don’t we just let it go, that high party, it wasn’t a good thing in the first place.”

He’s trying to pin all the blame on the dead High Party.

    “What a cold-blooded, heartless guy.”

The Gao Party is no longer his beloved, not only does he not think of avenging him, but he wants to make him take the blame, he really can’t die in peace.

“Even if it was for the sake of the investigation, you shouldn’t have killed him, it won’t do anyone any good if this gets out of hand.”

    “I’m sorry about this.”

“How about, we each take a step back and make a big deal out of it? A first captain, plus three henchmen, should be enough.”

“Thank you for your kind words, and I’d like to put it to rest, but now there’s a problem.”

    “What’s the problem?”

“I don’t have any evidence, I was ordered to come and investigate this time, so I have to produce some evidence before I can explain to my superiors, right?”

“Good thing about the evidence, just find any excuse.”

“I’m afraid not, the tip-off letter I received said that the First Brigade was taking outside commissions privately, and this is too big a deal to just let it go.”

I deliberately said that the report letter mentioned this matter, in fact, it was all told to me by Zhang Hu.

The Demon Monarch didn’t expect that I knew so much, and was a bit flustered.

“If you want to end this, you have to produce evidence.”

I didn’t say so explicitly and asked him to produce evidence, but he should have understood what I meant.

–This matter can only be closed if you produce evidence.

After the short conversation was over, the Demon Monarch once again called for the songstress and continued to drink and make merry.

He was more indulgent than before, but I could sense that he was preoccupied, and even his dancing was not as light as before.
