    Chapter Index

“To straighten out the culture within the Church, you say?”

    “Yes.”

“Spare me the grandstanding and tell me what you really think.”

“Do you really want to hear it?”

“Could it be that what you used to, tell me, was a lie?”

“That’s not true, it’s just that …… this time, with my answer, I may have offended you.”

    “Say it.”

“I think we …… have lost the magic path.”

    The father’s face, slightly changed.

That’s a phrase he must have hated to hear.

“What is this thing you call the Devil’s Way?”

“What I call the Devil’s Way is ……”

I paused, then voiced the thought I had buried deep in my heart.

“It is the faith that eradicates all evil in the world.”

My father looked at me in surprise, as if he hadn’t expected that I would say something like that.

“The belief in eradicating all evil in the world?”

“I don’t think that our enemies, are righteous.”

    “What’s that?”

    “It’s absolute evil.”

I knew that it would be hard for my father to accept my words.

    But I’ll say it anyway.

“In this world, there exist some, unimaginable evils that we can’t imagine, which are so vile, cruel, and shameless that even the devil, would feel displeased. In my opinion, the justice and mercy that the Righteous Path pursues may be able to overcome some minor evils, but they cannot overcome these absolute evils. Because, the root of the Righteous Way, is forgiveness, they cannot kill those, who have lost their humanity, the evil ones.”

Father listened quietly, his eyes, as focused as they had ever been.

Perhaps, deep down, he had the same idea.

“Could it be that we are not those who are absolutely evil?”

“No, Father, I hope, we are not, and I will try, to make us, the embodiment of justice.”

I continued, “We are the only ones who can use more despicable, more brutal means to destroy those evils. We don’t care if we are good or evil, we only care about, the outcome. When those, the evils that even the righteous path can’t defeat, fall to their knees in front of us, shivering, that’s the true Devil’s Path! At that time, the entire martial arts world, will truly submit to us, and they will turn to us, because, only we, can save them!”

I’m pretty sure my father never thought about this and never heard about it.

Because, this is not something I learned from the Heavenly Demon Divine Teaching, or something I heard from elsewhere, but it is something that I, after experiencing countless rounds of life and death, have realized.

“If we can’t establish a true magic path, we won’t be able to survive. In order to survive, we must …… punish ourselves.”

Even his father, who had always been joyful, at this moment, showed a shocked expression.

He used to attack me in the face with the wind of his fingers because I lied, but now he doesn’t say a word and lets me “speak my mind”.

    I know, he’s thinking, he’s weighing it.

Though I’ve lived a longer life than he has, I can’t guess what’s going on in his mind.

But I could feel that he, and I, were changing, and we were both moving in a new direction, moving forward.

“Do you have any other brilliant ideas?” Father finally spoke.

“Nothing.” I scratched my head and smiled.

“I know, Blood Sky Blade Demon, why you want me to punish you.”

    “Why?”

The father’s eyes, became incredibly sharp.

“He saw something in you, so he wanted to test you by my hand.”

“He must have seen that I have the potential to be the heir apparent.”

“Perhaps, what he sees is the possibility of you destroying the Demon Cult.”

“That old man, in any case, has quite a vision.”

My father looked at me with complicated eyes.

He seemed to have made some kind of decision as he stood up and strutted out of the gazebo.

    “Follow me.”

    ……

My father led me, to a stone room in the deepest part of the Heavenly Demon Hall.

    I know, that’s where.

On the door of the stone room, there was a plaque with two words:

    Little Heavenly Cave.

“You …… you’re not going to let me, go in, are you?” I asked in surprise.

The Little Heavenly Cave, was the Heavenly Demon Divine Sect’s place of trial, and only those, who were qualified to become the Sect Leader’s successor, could enter it.

It is said that it is easy to enter a small heavenly cave, but difficult to come out.

Only those who pass the trial will come out alive.

And those who fail will stay in it forever.

It was said that only half of the people who entered the Little Heavenly Cave, were able to come out alive.

Even my ambitious brother doesn’t dare to step into it easily.

“I went in there when I was your age.” Father said.

“How long have you …… you been in there, for?”

    “Two months.”

“My God, you are asking me, in this dark place, for two months?”

“Don’t forget, I’m a Heavenly Demon, of course I’m faster than others. Normally, it takes at least three years, before I can come out.”

My father is the most gifted person in the history of the Heavenly Demon Sect, and the reason I have the “Divine Martial Body” is because I inherited his genes.

“Father, why are you doing this?”

“Didn’t I say? I’m going to punish you.”

“This punishment, it’s too heavy, isn’t it?”

“You killed Liang Dong, and he will sleep forever in the ground.”

“He will be blessed by those, who he has oppressed.”

But Father, the mind is made up.

Father, do you really want to send me to a place where I’ll die?

Because of the Blood Heavenly Sword Demon, you’re punishing me?

I suddenly remembered, the words my father had said while hunting:

“The human heart, it’s the worst.”

“Do you really not care if I live or die? Or do you wish for me, to become stronger?”

The Little Heavenly Cave, was a dangerous place, but it was also a place, where one could rapidly increase their strength.

“Or, are you trying to protect me from the Blood Sky Blade Demon, from harming me?”

My father’s expression, still calm, I couldn’t read his mind.

He walked to the stone door, put his palm, pressed it on the stone door, and a powerful internal force, gushed out from his palm, injected into the stone door.

    “Rumble ……”

    The stone door slowly opened.

My father looked at me with firm, undeniable eyes.

“Well, I’ll be out faster than you.”

    “Rumble ……”

The stone door slowly closed, cutting me, and the world outside, off.

    “Don’t ever die in there.”

I heard my father’s voice, coming from beyond the stone door.

His tone, still cold, carried a hint of imperceptible concern.
