    Chapter Index

    “Our dinner.”

“Then what are you waiting for? Hurry up and catch it!”

I said, about to take my bow and arrow out of my leather pouch.

“How can you catch the prey if you can’t even see it?” My father stopped me, “Close your eyes and feel it with your heart.”

    “Oh.”

I closed my eyes and released my true qi to sense my surroundings.

I can’t feel anything but my father’s scent.

His breath, calm and deep, was like a tranquil lake.

But that’s just the surface, and I know that underneath the calm surface of this lake lies a power that is destructive enough to destroy the world.

“Now, release one strand of true energy, and remember, only one.”

I followed my father’s instructions and carefully released a strand of true qi.

“Slowly, don’t break it, like pulling silk from a ball of thread.”

I’ve never tried to release my true qi in this way before.

Previously, when I released my true qi, it was for attack or defense, but now, I was using it to sense my surroundings.

    “Thinner, don’t break!”

My true qi, like a thin silk thread, kept extending and exploring.

    “A little further, a little further ……”

I would never have lasted this long without my father there to encourage me.

Suddenly, my true qi, touched something.

    “Feel that?” Father asked.

    “Feel it.”

    “What is it?”

    “Looks like a tree.”

I was surprised to find that I was able to perceive things in the distance through my true qi.

“Feel your surroundings carefully and slowly.”

My true qi, like a dexterous tentacle, wandered through the woods, exploring every corner.

Suddenly, I felt a faint breath of life.

“Is it a boar?” I asked.

    Father didn’t answer.

I peeked my eyes open to find my father looking at me in surprise.

“Could it be a bear? I feel like it has coarse, hard fur and a slender body, so it should be a boar, right?”

“It’s a wild boar.” Father nodded.

I closed my eyes again and focused my true qi on that spot.

Even though I can’t see it, I can feel it.

“It’s not easy to hit an arrow from such a distance.”

It seems that the father also finds it unbelievable.

I suddenly realized that what I used just now was not just a hunting technique, but a powerful secret technique that could be applied to martial arts.

“Did you make a fool of me on purpose?” I asked with a smile.

“You were supposed to miss the shot.”

    “I am your son!”

“The first time I shot a boar, I missed too.”

“I was born with a Divine Martial Body!”

Hearing the words “Divine Martial Body”, his father’s eyes changed slightly.

In my previous life, I always had a soft spot for my father.

He’s clearly a power-seeker, he clearly wants a powerful heir, and he even went so far as to hold a tournament to try and find someone who could defeat me.

But why is he, however, so indifferent to me, who was born with the body of a divine warrior?

Could it be that he’s jealous of me?

    Now, I finally get it.

There are some things that I don’t take for granted.

I can’t expect special treatment from my father, I can only rely on my own efforts to become stronger and better.

Only when I truly show my talent and strength will I be recognized and respected by all.

“What are you still frozen for? Do you want to starve?” Father urged.

I take a deep breath, pull back the bowstring, aim at the target, and release my fingers.

    “Whoosh!”

A sharp arrow that broke through the air and disappeared into the night.

    ……

The campfire was blazing, and the smell of roasting meat, filled the mountains and forests.

“When did you learn to handle prey?” Father asked.

    “Read and learn.”

    “You handled it quite skillfully.”

“I’ve eaten not a hundred, but eighty boars.”

I deliberately digressed and said, “The tiger skin you’re sitting on now, but I specially prepared it for you, and climbing the mountain with it on my back has worn me out.”

The corners of his father’s mouth, slightly upturned, revealed an imperceptible smile.

“Do you want to hunt with me to curry favor with me so I can choose you as heir?”

“Of course not, I know that you wouldn’t change your mind over something like that.”

    “Just so you know.”

“Even without your help, I can still become a godfather just the same.”

    “You’re quite confident.”

“Provided, of course, my good brother, doesn’t come back to make trouble.”

    “You’re badmouthing him again.”

    “He deserved it!”

If father really wanted brotherly harmony, then he should have decided on an heir earlier, instead of letting us two brothers kill each other.

“Why do you want to hunt with me?” Father asked again.

“There are two reasons. First, I wanted to learn from you and become stronger. It seems that my purpose has been achieved.”

“What do you want to get stronger for?”

My father’s eyes, sharp as knives, seemed to look through me.

“I’m getting stronger not to become a Sect Leader, you’re still young and strong, I don’t want to waste my youth fighting for that position. As long as you can impart the ‘Nine Woes Demonic Skill’ to me, I will be satisfied.”

At my current age, in my father’s eyes, both my brother and I are still too young to be qualified to inherit the position of Sect Leader.

In fact, it was only after ten years that my father officially made my brother his heir.

But I can’t wait that long, I have to get the “Nine Woes Demonic Skill” as soon as possible, and cultivate it to the extreme, even beyond my father’s realm.

Because, even his father, who had cultivated to the tenth percentile of his greatness, had ultimately lost at the hands of Hua Wuji.

“I occasionally think about how agonizing it would be if one day I met someone I really wanted to kill, but I couldn’t kill him. Therefore, I must make myself stronger, so strong that I can do whatever I want, whatever I want!”

My father’s face was expressionless and I wondered what he was thinking.

    “And the second reason?”

“I want to be alone with you, it’s our first time, isn’t it?”

The corners of his father’s mouth, once again, showed a mocking smile.

    “What a cheap sentiment.”

“How can hunting with the world’s number one expert be a cheap sentiment? The song we sing must be the world’s most famous song; the wine we drink must be the world’s most beautiful wine; the shit we take ……”

    “Enough!”

“Okay, I’ll shut up, and I definitely won’t say a word for an hour!”

My father and I looked at each other, and I smiled at him, for the first time, in front of him, with such an easy smile.

He, on the other hand, just coldly turned his head and stopped looking at me.

“Before, every time I thought of you, I had only fear, and that didn’t count as a memory. This time, I won’t let my memories, become so pale. However, you don’t have to rejoice too soon; I’m doing this, not for you, but for myself.”
