Chapter 305: New Year’s Eve Dinner
by Jessie@AFNCC“Ming, we’re going back.” Dad shouted through the door.
The genealogy had been read and Dad had retrieved the offerings from the incense basket.
Cheng Ming responded, “Ohhh, I’m coming.”
“Rei, even though it’s a bit early to say it just now, I wish you a happy new year, and here’s my new year’s money for you.”
“Eh, I can’t take this.”
Jo Ren panicked and pushed the red envelope back.
“There’s no need for us to be polite to each other, so don’t crumple up all the red envelopes.”
Rei’s family doesn’t have much in the way of relatives; her father’s siblings all died young, and after her mother ran away, her relationship with her grandmother’s family fell apart and she died of old age.
Ren shouldn’t have gotten any year-end money for many years.
“Thank you Brother Cheng Ming.” Rei smoothed out the folds on the red envelope and said, “Brother Cheng Ming, can you lower your head a bit?”
“Want to whisper something to me?” Cheng Ming leaned down and asked.
The sound of firecrackers outside simply did not stop the meaning of a burst, not close to the point really can not hear clearly.
Xiao Ren gave Cheng Ming a peck on the cheek and picked up the red bag to block her slightly red face.
“Xiao Ming, if you don’t leave, I’ll leave you over here for the New Year.” Dad shouted impatiently.
“Coming, coming, coming to my house as a guest on the second day of the New Year if you don’t have anywhere to go.”
“Uh-huh.”
It’s not a mouthful, but it’s a tiny accomplishment.
Dad drove Cheng Ming back to the downstairs of his home, Cheng Ming didn’t go upstairs directly, but took over the motorcycle and said, “Dad, I’m going to a friend’s house, I’ll be right back.”
“Don’t overdo it out there, we still have to eat together for New Year’s Eve dinner, don’t make your mom mad.”
“Dad’s the one who needs to pay a little attention, stop pissing off mom and drink less.”
“Go go go, I usually drink to the point of vomiting from socializing, I don’t bother to drink on New Year’s Eve.”
Cheng Ming made a special trip to Haojiaji, the store was closed and Cheng Ming entered through the back door.
Sister Qiaoyun was preparing the New Year’s Eve dinner, but Suzume and Suzaku were obediently sitting on the chairs and waiting.
Sister Shen Xiaoxiao clasped her hands on her shoulders and held up her chest and said, “Cheng Ming, I knew that you would give Suzume and Suzuru New Year’s Eve money today, and I’ve been waiting for you here for half a day.”
“Huh, are my intentions so obvious?” Cheng Ming asked rhetorically.
Shen Xiao waved her nose and said, “Your body smells like incense and firewood, you just came back from Xiao Ren’s house, right?”
Cheng Ming’s palm still had the red marks left by the Buddhist incense.
“Guessed it right, is Sister Shen Xiao a roundworm inside my heart?” Cheng Ming snapped his fingers and said.
“I’m your secretary, how can I not know my boss.”
Suzume and Suzaku jumped off the chair, took Cheng Ming’s right and left hands, and held out their little hands and said, “Xiaoming Xiaoming, congratulations on the fortune, bring the red packet.”
“Suzume, Suzaku, you can’t be so rude.” Zhan Qiaoyun said with a stern face.
“It’s fine, it’s fine, that’s how kids should be, just be a little bit skinnier when it’s time to be skinnier and a little bit more well-behaved when it’s time to be well-behaved, just call me brother and I’ll give you guys your New Year’s money.”
Cheng Ming’s mouth was showing.
“Then we don’t want it.”
“Don’t.”
You’ve learned to be a little young and you’re going to grow up to be a little old.
“No more barking or no more for you, I only like obedient children.”
Cheng Ming wouldn’t compromise easily.
“Brother Kotomine ……”
Suzaku squirmed and purred.
Suzaku was considerably more generous, and although Suzaku was a lot more cheerful, she could still tell who was who by some of her little expressions.
Leaving Hao Jia Ji, Shen Xiao also took out a few thin red envelopes and handed them to Cheng Ming.
“You and Xiao Li, Jing Jing, Xu Juan and Xiao Ren their share, you pass me to them, the share is not big, just as a token of appreciation.”
“Packing red envelopes hasn’t gone beyond your means, has it?” Cheng Ming asked worriedly.
Half of Shen Xiao’s monthly salary from Cheng Ming’s side was returned to Cheng Ming.
“Don’t underestimate adults! I eat and live in my own house over here, I still manage to save a lot, and if I can’t, I can still get a free high-calorie meal at Goodwill, it’s just easy to get fat if you eat too much.”
“Sister Shen Xiao, work hard next year and work together to make more money.”
“You just know how to squeeze me.”
“Put it down, can’t squeeze you dry.” Cheng Ming said as he glanced at Sister Shen Xiao’s breasts.
“Do you like kids?”
“Don’t worry, you’re a kid to me too, not much older.”
It’s just a big girl with a fuller and taller figure.
“Don’t keep thinking about molesting me or I’ll call Creek to cure you.”
Shen Xiao pinched Cheng Ming’s face, and not knowing where the courage came from, she directly pressed the back of Cheng Ming’s head and buried his face in her chest.
Cheng Ming hugged Shen Xiao back, tilted his head, blew hot air towards her face and said, “Hohoho, there’s no need for Sister Shen Xi to make a move, Sister Shen Xiao has already cured me to death now.”
“It’s itchy, go home and eat New Year’s Eve dinner, little brat.” Shen Xiao said as she pushed Cheng Ming away.
“You too, big girl.”
Shen Xiao walked a few steps behind Cheng Ming’s back and turned back to spit her tongue at him, pulling down her eyelids and making a face.
Jing Jing and Auntie Ren really came to their house for New Year’s Eve dinner as Cheng Ming had said, and Uncle Lin was the only one who went back to deal with the cumbersome extended family.
Won’t go for sure they will be talked about, but Auntie Ren and Jing Jing don’t have a lot of goodwill towards them, so they will just have more dealings with their mother’s family in the future.
For tonight’s New Year’s Eve dinner, the family even changed the dining table for a larger one. Not only can we sit everyone down, but we can also leave a seat or two and set out a few more empty dishes so that the old ancestors can sit down and have a couple of bites as well.
The family was reunited and lively, Cheng Ming had a warm and happy feeling that his whole body and mind were full of joy.
This was a feeling that Cheng Ming had not felt for a long time.
In his previous life, after his parents divorced, when Aunt Lian and Xu Juan were around, it was still a bit of a New Year’s Eve dinner.
After they left, Zhao Lei accident, Cheng Ming almost every year only with Xiaoren together, the first few years of life is difficult, even more casual, cooking a packet of frozen dumplings is more or less the same, and only later slowly have a sense of ceremony.
Dad said he didn’t drink, but he couldn’t help himself once he saw the home-brewed rice wine that Auntie Ren brought over.
It was still up to Cheng Ming to send Jing Jing and Auntie Ren back.
Lin Jingyi waved her hand and politely refused, “Uncle Cheng has already given me a red envelope.”
“He’s him and I’m me, can it be the same?”
Cheng Ming doesn’t have that many relatives in contact, and receives less red envelopes each year, most of which are given by his own parents.
So there’s no harrowing experience of taking away a parent’s club red envelope and rewrapping it for another child.
“Xiao Ming, Xu Juan, you guys are staying here to sleep tonight, you can’t separate on New Year’s Eve, it’s still okay to squeeze in.” Mom said.
“So where do I sleep? I don’t want to sleep with my dad, still smelling of alcohol.” Cheng Ming said with disgust.
“You sleep in Leigh’s room and Leigh sleeps with me.”
“No, no, no, I’m not a good sleeper, I’m afraid I’ll crush my brother in Mommy’s tummy.”
“It’s not even born yet, it’s a younger brother.” Lai Ying helplessly held his forehead and sighed, “Alas, then you two siblings squeeze in.”
“Yeah, I can sleep with my brother again.” Cheng Li jumped up in place and laughed.
Said yesterday did not sleep together as if, but in front of mom and dad can not be a little restraint ah, it is very easy to get into trouble.
Although you’re not supposed to hit your kids during New Year’s Eve.
