    Chapter Index

New Year’s Day falls on a day like Tuesday, which is not before or after, Saturday makes up for Monday, and Sunday starts three days in a row.

The Arts and Crafts Show is on Friday night, with a final dress rehearsal on Thursday afternoon, where each class takes its place on stage in order of appearance and walks through the show.

Early on, we started setting up the stage with the steel-framed chorus stand for the big chorus.

Above the stage, colorful flags were pulled up, lanterns and balloons were hung up, and a big red background cloth was hung up, on which was written “The XXth New Year’s Day Literary and Artistic Performance of Nanming No.2 Middle School” and the school motto of “Mingde, Mingli, Mingzhi”.

You can see the stage change every day when you pass the playground after school.

The assembly announcements rang out right after school on Friday.

Each student has to carry their own bench down to sit.

Those who have a table will divide up the work, with one carrying it down and the other carrying it back into the classroom.

Usually the day students move down and the boarders move back.

After all, after the party, the walk-ins wanted to go straight home.

Cheng Ming hurriedly rushed to the school after sending his sister and Ren to school.

The headlights on the school building turned on, illuminating the entire playground, where row after row of students sat.

Cheng Ming found his class’s square, but he didn’t see Xu Juan and Chen Zi Yi, they couldn’t still be in the classroom, could they?

Cheng Ming looked up at the school building, the lights in most of the classes were turned off and the lights in their class were still on.

Chen Ziyi and Xu Juan were the only two people in the classroom, still playing Flip Flop Rope.

“Aren’t you guys going to meet in the playground yet? The party is about to start.” Cheng Ming asked in a good-natured manner.

“What’s the hurry, you’re in a hurry to go to the playground in the cold only if you’ve got a pit in your head, aren’t you? It’s not too late to go down there when we’re about to go on.”

Chen Ziyi sat steadily, not panicking at all.

“It’s too obvious with the lights on in the classroom, and the teacher will be making the rounds upstairs later to catch people.”

“Why don’t you just turn off the lights? It’s similar to hide-and-seek, it feels quite fun, want to try?” Chen Ziyi asked stupidly.

“The homeroom teacher will call the roll.”

“Just tell her we’re all there.”

“All classes, please turn off the lights in your classrooms and gather in the playground immediately, and again, repeat, for the senior class of eleven ……”

The head instructor picked up the microphone and shouted, and began to call the roll straight away.

Cheng Ming urged, “Get going, getting caught is no joke.”

They could all be ex-convicts, and even if they had their academic achievements and family history under their belts, they would not be spared a reprimand.

A more important point is that Cheng Ming just wants to lay low and then lay low again ah.

Cheng Ming and Xu Juan picked up their own benches, Chen Ziyi snatched the bench from Xu Juan’s hand and put it back, clapping her hands and said:

“Xu Juan, we don’t need to carry the chairs down, we’ll have to carry them back later, it’s a pain in the ass, we’ll just take Cheng Ming’s chair.”

“Then where do I sit?” Cheng Ming asked, he couldn’t stand all night, could he?

“Begrudgingly squeezing in with us is a bargain.”

“Is this really okay?” Cheng Ming said worriedly.

The three of them turned off the lights and locked the classroom door and went downstairs.

Rightfully at the end of the class line, behind the sophomore team.

Cheng Ming went to do a head count before reporting back to the homeroom teacher.

There were two other boys in the class who sat alone at a table like Cheng Ming.

However, the two of them shared a stool, otherwise Cheng Ming would really have to go and make do with them.

The homeroom teacher walked to the end of the line, saw Cheng Ming’s trio, and asked in surprise, “Why are the three of you sitting on one stool?”

Cheng Ming sat on the far right side, with half of his ass sitting on the air, and Chen ZiYi sat in the middle, holding Xu Juan’s arm, close to her body, separated from Cheng Ming’s body by a fist’s distance, and would not dare to stick together in public.

“Xu Juan and I borrowed Cheng Ming’s chair when it broke. He sits alone anyway, Xu Juan is his cousin and I’m his what’s-her-name, so we don’t mind.”

Chen Ziyi didn’t finish her sentence, meaning know it all.

The question is do you mind?

Cheng Ming doubted the class teacher’s heart to beat someone, spreading such a living treasure.

But the high school Chen Ziyi is vastly different from the middle school Chen Ziyi.

Cheng Ming originally thought that Chen Ziyi, the iceberg goddess, cold schoolgirl, and unattainable rich white beauty, and himself were two worlds apart.

After removing the disguise and mixing it up.

The actual Chen Ziyi, sand sculpture, rebellious, love to play games, ghostly and afraid of loneliness, and the same age of the little girl did not differ so much, but unfortunately open mouth.

Cheng Ming desperately wanted to draw a line with Chen Ziyi at first, but he was also afraid of unnecessary trouble coming his way, her suitors looking at him in a bad light or something.

It’s been circumvented by pretending to be boyfriend and girlfriend for the time being.

The headlights on the school building were turned off, leaving only the stage lights.

The surrounding area was plunged into darkness, not to the point of double vision, but the visibility became low enough to do a little work.

Cheng Ming’s butt moved inward, pressing against Chen Ziyi’s body.

Chen Ziyi’s arm entwined with Cheng Ming’s, her small hand reaching into his jacket pocket, leaning her head on Cheng Ming’s shoulder and saying, “The body is warming up.”

Four hosts, two men and two women, with line books and microphones in hand, called the evening to order.

First, the judges were introduced, then the principal’s speech was delivered. Senior Class 5 went on stage as the first class to sing the chorus, while Senior Class 3 and Class 8 were prepared at the back.

“I’ll use my 5.3 eyesight to help you find where that vixen Ye Mei is?”

“Found it, second row, third from the left, she looks like she’s a little nervous, can’t take her eyes off the front.”

There were only a few male conductors for the chorus, each wearing a tuxedo or suit, a tie, and a bit of makeup, combing their hair to look like grown-ups and applying a bit of hair wax.

But immature guys really don’t suit this hairstyle, it’s a bit unorthodox.

On the conductor’s side, there are many more styles of dresses, evening gowns, dresses, maxi dresses, knee-length dresses, and strapless ones.

The hairstyles were also varied, and some were specially wavy and dyed a very light color.

It’s only on days like this that the school relaxes its rules a little, I guess.

“Isn’t this woman cold? I really don’t know how many warm babies are attached to her body.” Chen Ziyi spat out.

It was only five or six minutes for one class, and soon it was Cheng Ming’s class’ turn to make preparations to go on stage.

At night, the cold wind whistled, Chen Ziyi shivered and complained, “Can’t the school have a big auditorium for the party? What if the students get sick and catch a cold here?”

“Where’s the money coming from, you think the school doesn’t want it?”

“Or you could pick another day, spring, summer or fall, why does it have to be in the middle of winter?”

“How am I supposed to know if you ask me? Tradition and custom, I guess.”

Making small talk and walking onto the stage, Cheng Ming stood on the somewhat unsteady and rickety steel frame.

Under the spotlight, only the conductor’s face could be seen; the audience on stage was pitch black.

Cheng Ming stood on the far right side of the third row, and Chen Ziyi stood on the far right side of the second row.

The accompaniment plays, and the music member, who is the conductor, waves his baton and opens the song.

Chen Ziyi extended his right hand towards the back, Cheng Ming ghosted out his right hand and hooked it tightly.

Secretly holding hands while the whole school watched.
